I can imagine we will be horror struck as next week plays out. The cabinet will be a sight to behold.

Since the British Oil Tanker was "taken" last night, not one word from our so-called "EU partners" offering solidarity.

I'm afraid I spluttered when I read that. What on earth do you expect? It is in the USA's interest to support us as they see us supporting Trump's machinations. You don't want to be a part of the EU - or have I misunderstood you GrannyGravy13. They, like us, and like the USA, will put themselves first.

We have threatened them; why would they rush to our aid. We have stopped negotiating in favour of threats.

Seems like any old mysogonistic, racist, thatch-topped wanker gets to lead a major Western nation these days without repercussion. Doesn't say much for civilisation

Wonderful quote just lifted from Mumsnet, sums it up perfectly I think. Thank you Mumsnet.

I will expect the UK to be ignored by the EU out of spite once we have left,

Such a childish way of looking at International Relationships, GG13. Not 'spite'; just the we (well, some of us) have chosen that the UK leaves the club and becomes a third country. A trading rival etc. Vociferously asserting that we don't want any part in EU defence co-operation..

What on earth did you expect? That everything would stay the same?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 20-Jul-19 11:29:49

MaizieD I will expect the UK to be ignored by the EU out of spite once we have left, and they will make it difficult so as to deter any other Country from leaving.

We haven’t left yet though!

GillT57 Sat 20-Jul-19 10:52:26

As this disaster unfolds and gets closer, all I read is about the adverse effects on the markets, jobs, industry, exports and nothing that will be to our benefit, absolutely nothing. If there is one thing worse than Britain leaving the EU it is leaving the EU with Johnson in charge.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 20-Jul-19 09:47:13

After watching Panorama on catch up, I have consoled myself that if Johnson puts Davis and Raab into cabinet, it will be the shortest lived government ever, as none of them seem to have done a useful or constructive days work in their lives.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 20-Jul-19 09:41:48

I think that what leavers fail to grasp, is that if we brexit and in particular Brexit with a no deal our whole way of life will change, and change to perhaps a disastrous worse.

If we remain, the leave voter will not notice a single difference to their lives apart from not obtaining this wonderful world which they are sure exists somewhere, but which not a single one of them can give any detail or assurance.

It is a pretend world which this cult of delirium is driving them ever onwards with stars in their eyes.

not one word from our so called "EU partners" offering solidarity.

Better get used to it, GG13. This is the future you voted for..

Lessismore Sat 20-Jul-19 09:31:40

While the government is focussed on this nonsense, what is happening to all the everyday issues and the big worry.....security?
Yes, it's going really well.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 20-Jul-19 09:31:19

Unfortunately when/if Boris Johnson takes over on the 24th July, he will immediately be embroiled in an extremely dangerous diplomatic situation with Iran.

Since the British Oil Tanker was "taken" last night, not one word from our so called "EU partners" offering solidarity.

President Trump spoke up and offered help immediately.

MaizieD Sat 20-Jul-19 09:29:50

Oops, lost a 'was' there, after Annie blush

Greta8 Sat 20-Jul-19 09:27:45

Well said varian. As you say a growing number of people have seen through the leave propaganda. Time for the Brexiteers to get on with it - that should be interesting!!! Following the business pages it's easy to see the direction of travel, huge increase in public borrowing this month, the £ tanking, slowing in the property market (not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it shows lack of confidence). I'm not sure what Utopia the leavers were hoping for, but it isn't going to happen. I voted Remain, mainly because I wasn't prepared to gamble my children and grandchildren's future.

MaizieD Sat 20-Jul-19 09:27:42

Perhaps Annie referring to Fascist Farage's single member 'party', rather than any progress towards leaving the EU?

Elegran Sat 20-Jul-19 09:24:32

Have you any ideas on what the remainers are so cross about, Urmstongran? Could it be that they believe not only that Brexit will be one of the worst things that have happened to the country, but also that the liars and cheats who instigated it for a laugh seem to be succeeding in achieving it and also gaining the highest position in the land and acclaim from across the pond?

varian Sat 20-Jul-19 09:19:45

Brexit is not doing well.

It has dominated everything in this country for the last three years, ignoring the growing number of people who could see through the leave liars propaganda.

The country has never been so divided. Billions of taxpayers money have been spent on this brexit nonsense rather than for the public good.

After three years the leavers have totally failed to come up with a version of brexit which they can agree on, let alone convince the rest of us.

Brexit is a disaster and should be stopped before any more damage is done.

GillT57 Sat 20-Jul-19 09:19:44

Going well? In what way?

Lessismore Sat 20-Jul-19 09:03:48

how can something which at the moment is an idea " do well"

Labaik Sat 20-Jul-19 08:48:49

In what way is it doing well?

crystaltipps Sat 20-Jul-19 08:48:19

Brexit is doing so well???

Urmstongran Sat 20-Jul-19 08:42:03

I just think the Remainers are so very cross Annie and they are making the most noise! Us Leavers know it is going to happen so finally, we are pretty sanguine about it.

Anniebach Sat 20-Jul-19 08:34:53

If there are now so many against leaving, why is Brexit doing so well

Urmstongran Fri 19-Jul-19 22:50:52

Protesters will take to London’s streets tomorrow morning for a “No to Boris. Yes to Europe” march days ahead of Boris Johnson’s widely anticipated move into No 10.

In a message aimed at the new prime minister, the March for Change will demand an end to Brexit.

A Boris blimp, inspired by the Trump baby blimp, will be launched in Parliament Square.

lemongrove Fri 19-Jul-19 13:31:10

No, it wouldn’t.

Davidhs Fri 19-Jul-19 13:01:39

I’m afraid the concerns about support for Boris are well founded and a GE could be very close. The Tories will loose many seats, but what happens if the Brexit party campaign the GE, all bets are off for the result.

A hung parliament with JC as leader of the largest party might be the best result
- will that solve Brexit?.

Ilovecheese Fri 19-Jul-19 12:55:31

Mrs May also told lies about the Human Rights Act when she said that someone could not be deported because he had a cat, due to Human Rights. That was entirely false.
