Brexit isn't about leaving the EU any more (if it ever was). It's a culture war. Johnson will be lucky to last three months as PM. If he really were a man contending for a Churchillian reputation, he'd do the right thing for his country, which would be to forget about his immediate future and call for a second referendum or, better still, revoke Article 50. His choice. Either he will be remembered as an selfish, lying idiot who sold his country down the drain or somebody who made the right decision, despite opposition and being unpopular in some quarters.

It does if you're planning to do really important things on the world stage like presenting a speech in french on foreign policy issues to the people you called turds. Today, I was talking to a group of people from India, America, Northern Ireland, Spain and Germany when Boris's election result came out. Everyone went deathly quiet and they all looked at me for reaction. I genuinely wanted to cry.

When I got home, I saw the speech and was struck by how amused and mocking Boris seemed to be by it all. Great for a Mayor or a motivational after-dinner speaker, but for a man taking over at a time of mounting international crises in Iran, off Japan and here with Brexit? Truly scary.

If you believe in a God, I'd start praying.

You are making the point again about who had the right to vote for the Prime Minister after Theresa May resigned..

When a General Election takes place it is a Political Party that wins, not an individual.

When a Leader of a Political Party resigns it is for their party to replace him/her.

This principle cannot be accepted if and when it suits us as individuals and not accepted if it does not, that is hypocrisy.

She is a British citizen Urm and before you continue with your increasingly nationalist comments which are verging on xenophobic and which are not painting you in a very good light, you might want to remember that we are all entitled to comment on other countries elections and referendums - even if we have absolutely no connection to them, unlike jura.

Using the f word or calling someone a Remoaner isn't the only definition of rude, and your opinions directed at a particular poster on the grounds of where she now lives is very rude.

As far as I know Jura is a UK citizen who has lived here for most of her life, bringing up her family and working as a teacher while her husband spent most of his working life as GP in the NHS, and so she is perfectly entitled to ezpress her view on British politics.

I cited Grieve as someone who is fluent, who can speak the language as opposed to Boris, who isn't. Having a French mother and property in France doesn't make for linguistic fluency. I presume he must have worked at it.

Just as sputtering a few words of Italian or cobbling together a bit of French and school Latin doesn't make for fluency.

Urmstongran - you are right, I didn't vote for Boris Johnson, and neither did the vast majority of UK citizens. Could you remind us of the proportion of those who voted, and thos who were allowed to vote, please?

I voted to Remain too- as a British Citizen, I am allowed to vote, and will be for another 5 years.
