really going to move in his mistress into number 10?

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 19:39:26

Paddyann, she is 31, there is not a thing her parents or anyone could do to call a halt to it.

Urmstongran Mon 29-Jul-19 19:32:19

I think it was the married Lloyd George on being asked why he wasn’t taking his wife abroad with him on some convention replied ‘why take a sandwich to a State dinner?’
??

Pogs are you saying you'd be happy for your daughter to be in arealtionship with Boris or any other serial cheat ,and move in with him while he's still married to another woman ?

I must be strange ...I would move heaven and earth to get my daughter away from someone like him .Thankfully my daughter has better morals than to live with a married man.Old fashioned I know but she didn't move in with her husband until there was a ring on her finger .I'm happy with that even in the 21st century .If he can cheat on one ..or more as in Boris' case why would you believe he wont do it to you?

What the press chose to call her is suddenly true ?
Anniebach, just which part of erroneously don't you understand?

The fact that Johnson is a serial adulterer who has let down his wives and mistresses is reprehensible. It is not the worst thing he is guilty of but is an indication of his untrustworthiness and total lack of consideration for anyone other than himself, even those closest to him.

What is much much worse is that this totally immoral serial liar cares so little for the United Kingdom that he has exploited his career as a journalist and then a politician to deliberately inflict serious harm on our country, attempting to wrench us out of the European Union and rob our children and grandchildren of the future they could have and are now entitled to if the UK remains an influential member of the world's largest and most powerful trading block.

If we are talking purely of the arrangements of the sitter in No 10 what should the public condemn more if that is their want.

1). A man / woman who has been separated for a while, divorcing and has been in a long term relationship with a new partner and is living with him / her.?

2) A man / woman who is still married, living in the marital home but having an affair behind his/her spouses back.?

I know Johnson can be accused of both but if the issue is about who Johnson is ' allowed' to have as his partner in No 10 to suit the clamour of the public surely he is not going to stop living with his partner just to please them. Why should a couple living together be separated to please the public.

Does no other Gransnetter have a son or daughter who is living with a partner waiting for divorce?

If so does he/she deserve the wrath Carrie Symonds is getting for having the cheek to live with a partner awaiting divorce?

Cherie Blair was politically active before her marriage, she continued with her career when married. What the press chose to call her is suddenly true ?

Callistemon Mon 29-Jul-19 12:24:51

They found themselves in a position they may not have wanted to occupy but still pursued their own interests and remained quietly strong-minded women.

Cherie seems to have whole-heartedly embraced the role of PM's spouse to the extent that she was erroneously referred to as First Lady (which she was not).

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 12:10:41

I am not arguing, only asked how you know those women
chose their ‘place in society’

Callistemon Mon 29-Jul-19 12:05:45

I'm not going to argue about it.

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 12:05:20

How do you know it was their own choice ? They did what was expected of PM’s wives then , turn up with husbands when required .

Cherie Blair didn’t and she is hated

Callistemon Mon 29-Jul-19 11:56:25

Really Callistemon ? I find it offensive that you decided where any womans place is
Really?

Not at all offensive (why would it be?) - these women decided their own place and that was to pursue their own interests, their own path, not just as an accessory to their husbands who happened to be Prime Minister.

You make it sound as if I think their place should be tied to the kitchen sink!
On the contrary! Both may have stayed mainly out of the limelight - their own choice - but both contributed so much in their own way.
Dame Norma Major, author and philanthropist, still does today.

My meaning is that these women are not defined by their husbands' role, they found their own place in society.

I hope you understand now.

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 11:45:02

Corbyn had an affair with Diane Abbott and he was not divorced

Pantglas1 Mon 29-Jul-19 11:43:04

It was good enough for Lloyd George, and across the pond, Kennedy and Clinton.....

Jane10 Mon 29-Jul-19 11:42:21

Good suggestion paddyann. I expect she has her own place somewhere though. No reason why he shouldn't pop round in his free time.

paddyann Mon 29-Jul-19 11:39:52

Boris is a serial cheat so there could well be a trail of women through his door ,is that what you want from your PM? Think of the decorating bills as every woman wants to put her stamp on no 11 .I think Boris should get his bidey in a nice wee place nearby for booty calls ,and IF they marry or commit to a long term relationship she can move in .
Being in a long term relationship myself I dont understand all this off with the old and on with the new stuff he does ,maybe he should grow up!

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 10:05:37

Really Callistemon ? I find it offensive that you decided where any womans place is .

Was Marcia in ‘her place ‘ ?

SueDonim Mon 29-Jul-19 09:59:00

Oh but Callistemon, do you not remember Harold & Mary and Lady Falkender?! grin

suziewoozie Mon 29-Jul-19 09:54:32

I always thought that photo of Cherie in her nightie was quite endearing- it was the morning after the election I think and she answered to door to a flower delivery. All tousled haired and not yet transitioned to her new role - having to open her own front door. Clearly had just fallen out of bed when the bell went. I remember thinking, she’ll never be doing that again.

Callistemon Mon 29-Jul-19 09:49:53

And their place was to contribute to society in a different way to their husbands!

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 08:14:34

Yes Mary and Norma knew their place didn’t they.

Pantglas1 Mon 29-Jul-19 08:08:11

And Cherie in her nightie?

Callistemon Sun 28-Jul-19 20:24:31

POGS grin

Callistemon Sun 28-Jul-19 20:23:43

Oh, for the days of Mary and her poetry and Norma and her books!

But, then again hmm

suziewoozie Sun 28-Jul-19 20:16:00

POGS a bit of non sequituring going on (as Boris Johnson would say)
