In his statement Johnson underlined his pledge to ditch the Irish backstop, and ramp up preparations for no deal, and to leave on 31st October regardless of what happens.

Mays withdrawal agreement has been binned, however in a phone call Juncker signalled the EU27s intention of sticking with the deal already negotiated by the British Government. This includes the backstop.

Juncker told Johnson that the EU would be prepared to alter the political declaration.
Ireland has declared itself as “alarmed”
Barnier signalled that Johnson’s rhetoric almost certainly meant that the U.K. was going into a GE.

Expect a huge public information campaign and a large level of spending in preparation for no deal.

Boris Johnson is threatening to sack rebel Tory MPs who vote to block a no-deal Brexit, it has been claimed. The prime minister aims to ban Remain MPs within his party from standing at the next general election if they make moves to prevent Britain leaving the EU without a deal. According to The Sun, a vote in the House of Commons next week will be seen as a no-confidence vote by the PM, with rebel Tories disqualified from contesting their seats if they take part. Ministers supporting the PM have called a cross-party alliance of MPs seeking to prevent a no-deal Brexit as ‘deceitful and underhand’. Tory heavyweight Philip Hammond said barring MPs from standing in a snap general election would be ‘staggeringly hypocritical’.

"Dictatorship by referendum"
---

Remain Parties /politicians want a Second Referendum.

Why would a Second Referendum be democratic if the Lib Dems and Greens say they would only accept the result if the return vote is to Remain!?

growstuff Sun 01-Sep-19 17:45:19

What about people who live in flats? Has the supply chain for hospitals and schools been worked out?

While you're at it, do you have any solutions to the slight problem of November weather? wink

SirChenjin Sun 01-Sep-19 17:41:54

Where’s your Blitz spirit everyone? Our parents and grandparents simply turned their gardens over to allotments and grew their own fruit and veg. If that’s what it takes to get over the ‘bumps in the road’ then we should all stop whinging and get ourselves to the local garden centre

GracesGranMK3 Sun 01-Sep-19 17:39:08

I can't believe those who have fallen for the idea that all these things are all "project fear" do not understand they have been lied to by the Conservatives. This will apply to us all however we voted.

growstuff Sun 01-Sep-19 17:35:23

We can all eat (omitted *eat) Ooops!

growstuff Sun 01-Sep-19 17:34:48

Don't worry GracesGran. We can all vacuum packed kippers (without ice) and Melton Mowbray pork pies. We'll be fine! hmm

I'm so shocked that Gove has been telling lies, I think I'd better go and find some smelling salts.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 01-Sep-19 17:32:17

Gove has been completely exposed for his lying comments this morning saying their will be no shortages of fresh food. The British Retail Consortium says in a statement that this is "categorically untrue". They rejected his claims saying that "the government's own assessment show that the flow of goods would be reduced by 40 to 60% on Day 1 after a no deal Brexit"

growstuff Sun 01-Sep-19 17:31:03

If they do hate the establishment, they're in good(?) company. This is what Dominic Cummings had to say about the Conservative Party when he was Gove's SPAD:

Cummings followed up his initial attack on Downing Street by describing the Conservative approach to the EU as "whining, rude, dishonest, unpleasant, childishly belligerent in public while pathetically craven in private, and overall hollow".

Looking losing

GracesGranMK3 Sun 01-Sep-19 17:09:31

You do seem to be looking any level of control Day 6.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 01-Sep-19 17:07:47

Caring Tories? I've heard it all now. The Conservatives were never known for being kind and cuddly, the always saw the odd death or destroyed life as collateral damage but they somehow (mainly because they kept telling us loudly and often) acquired a reputation for being "good with the economy" that they have certainly now trashed in an attempt to control their own party for the sake of power.

SirChenjin Sun 01-Sep-19 16:53:37

They are selfish bigots full of hatred for the establishment

A sentence which perfectly sums up Prime Minister Cummings cabinet

Day6 Quote [I'd say Boris's pledge of funding in millions for our police force, schools and NHS shows he has his finger on the pulse and knows these institutions are important to the people of the UK.]End Quote.

Day6, Boris Johnson has been part of a Party/Government that since 2010 has run a policy of severe austerity that has dramatically reduced public services throughout this nation.

The above very much included the Police, the NHS, the Education services, in fact, all you Quote above and much more Day6. Do you expect that all the electorate to now bow down to the "great giver" Johnson and not recognise that these handouts (if they ever happen) Make a complete travesty for all that have suffered under those nine Tory years of misgovernment.

I find the rest of your post-@16:21 today Day6 nothing but a compleat unsubstantiated rant, as usual these days.

mostlyharmless Sun 01-Sep-19 16:48:52

day6 can you enlighten us about what Marxist policies were in Labour’s last manifesto?

SirChenjin Sun 01-Sep-19 16:34:00

Oh and they are all devolved issues, he’s not ‘giving’ to the UK

SirChenjin Sun 01-Sep-19 16:33:02

That’s funding that was already agreed or which was originally taken away by the Tories and he’s not replacing the full amount that was lost.

Day6 Sun 01-Sep-19 16:21:41

And the irony escapes you crystaltipps

I'd say Boris's pledge of funding in millions for our police force, schools and NHS shows he has his finger on the pulse and knows these institutions are important to the people of the UK.

The left on the other hand look to destabilise the UK. They care more about personal power to inflict Marxist policy on the UK rather than the fortunes of its people. They positively seek to drive out the wealthy and investment.

Power-hungry hard left wingers are not caring. They are selfish bigots full of hatred for the establishment.

Labaik Sun 01-Sep-19 16:21:25

'And Remainers want the Marxist Corbyn clown to lead the country?????'...the person organising our coach for the London march in October happens to be a Conservative councillor. Brexit is now apolitical [always has been really]. The people opposing it are the ones who fear for what Brexit is doing to this country and it's people. I campaign alongside people from every party [except UKIP] and have been doing so for several years.

crystaltipps Sun 01-Sep-19 16:16:05

“Caring tories” that’s another new one.

crystaltipps Sun 01-Sep-19 16:14:27

So only leavers have “fulfilling lives to live” that’s a new one.

Joelsnan Sun 01-Sep-19 16:13:15

varian
The Leavers have had it all there own way since the fraudulent referendum in 2016 and it is time for them to admit they made a mistake

I'm not sure that I've noticed a drop in the number of Leavers posting, but if it is true, could that be because they've changed their minds?

Haha. Quite the contrary.
Don’t worry there are very many leave voters on this site who do not post because they cannot be bothered to engage and be dragged into the mire of pessimism that pervade all the Brexit threads. They likely have fulfilling lives to live rather than having to view all of the self congratulatory posts of those who specifically look for gloom and doom predictions to suit their own agendas. This whilst directing personal jibes at those who do not concur with their apocalyptic views.

Day6 Sun 01-Sep-19 16:12:31

Johnson's back of a fag packet ideas is, that, had they been proposed by Labour everyone would be screaming with horror and forecasting the downfall of the nation

What, you mean the Tory government giving funding to our hospitals, police force and schools, you mean like caring for our NHS, our security and the education of children?

Who knew those ideas were the preserve of a Labour government?

You hate the caring Tories, don't you? It doesn't sit easily with you. You want all Conservatives to be wealthy and uncaring, don't you - to fit your stereotype.

Surprise. The working classes and poor have little faith in your Marxist, hypocritical, anarchic Labour party either.

All they promise is to run the country into deeper debt, to tax entrepreneurs and business out of existence - (they'll take their money and companies abroad) and leave every working person less well off as they open our borders and watch the chaos and despair as Britain's infrastructure cracks and falls. Job done in Momentum's book. hmm

And Remainers want the Marxist Corbyn clown to lead the country?????

Labaik Sun 01-Sep-19 16:04:19

Since when has unearthing the truth been 'digging up every scrap of biased remain support'?

Day6 Sun 01-Sep-19 16:01:15

Remain voters have always outnumbered GN Leave voters on GN political threads. Always. That's pretty obvious.

If I drop out it's because it's a compete and utter waste of time arguing with people who cannot accept they LOST and since then have not only sneered at and demeaned Leave voters, but have dug up ever scrap of biased remain support on the internet (and known to man) to try and justify their anger and whinging.

They are still at it, and now Remainers are being whipped up into a frenzy by Britain's best known living Eurosceptic, Marxist Jeremy Corbyn. What a hypocrite. You couldn't make it up. grin
