No Deal Brexit Leaflet...

The country is divided 50/50 over Brexit, so of course half will complain if there is a leaflet and the other half if there isn't. Please can someone explain the justification for it, since we are constantly being told by Leavers on these threads that they understood perfectly what the risks were when they voted Leave in the first place? So who needs a leaflet? And wouldn't the sides of a few buses cost far less and be much more effective?

Quizqueen The EU DIDN,T RULE US ,never have,EVERY decision made by them was agreed to by BRITISH MEP'S well apart from farage who abstained on everything except taking his wage and massive expenses.When will yo and so many other leavers understand that one simple fact ? The EU is resonsible for under 15 % of UK legislation and that was all ratified by the UK .As for foreigns coming in.....well lets see how well we'd do without them especially in the NHS! When they go the government will flood the country with cheap labour from Asia and eastern europe ...I dont know how you'll cope !

Hm999 Empty shop shelves? My Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Co-op shelves are full, except on Fridays when the tourists descend on Cornwall and need to stock up for their hols. However, even then the shelves are replenished for the next morning.

To go back upthread a bit. 'Coming out on WTO terms is just the start'. I absolutely agree that it's likely to be the start of a long hard road, taking many years to achieve a situation that's nowhere near as good as the one we have now!

Reminds me of the pointless twerpery of the first leaflet Cameron sent telling us to vote Remain or lose four grand a year. Most people clearly thought that was a small price to pay to cut loose from the EU or they wouldn't have voted for it.

British people don't like being told what to think or do. The Remainers won't be convinced and the Brexiters don't need it. Some people would do the opposite of what the government said whatever it was!

Just wish we could split the country down the middle and let the Brexiters have their half with blue passports and Boris, and the rest of us stay as British Europeans.

Any shortage of supplies is not connected to Brexit, we are still in the EU ( in case somebody hadn’t noticed.
High St shops have been closing down for some time ( also not connected to Brexit.) It’s a combination of high rates and Internet buying, and it will continue, because that’s how people like to shop.The High St has to change, unusual goods, good quality items and yet more coffee shops are the only ones likely to survive, along with shoe shops and a few clothes shops.
The High St had already changed quite a few years ago, as supermarkets took over the market for many day to day goods.

It's really strange that Cameron's claim that leaving the EU would mean leaving the Single Market and the Customs Union was vigorously denied by Leave campaigners at the time as part of Project Fear. I even posted a video still on another thread of Daniel Hannah saying that of course it didn't mean leaving the Single Market.
But now Leavers are claiming, with a weirdly dishonest and perverted twisting of DC's words, that that is what he was promising us. Well, Remainders are well able to spot the disgusting continuation of Leave lying. So don't try that one again,please, Leavers.

Last week my huge Tesco was clearly short of assorted goods. Yesterday my local Co-op also had empty shelves. Haven't seen this for years and years.
Hopefully our new PM will be able tell us what we're likely to be missing next in the shops.

I voted leave because I was sick of the open door policy where we were being flooded with foreigns coming in without checks as to weather they were terrorist bank robbers or what. Now I am so sick of the Conservative’s for dragging the UK down and the mindless idiots like Cameron / May and others. I would now vote remain just to get my own back on the useless politicians who have caused so much stress and loss of money to the UK taxpayers.

He's posturing - reminding them that he's really, really, really serious about leaving without a deal. It's the political equivalent of manspreading or the Tory equivalent of the Trump handshake.

I don't remember a May leaflet either, maybe it was only sent to Leavers? Don't remember Cameron telling us about the possibility of a No Deal Brexit either, but maybe I was too busy being calmed by the assurances that everything was going to be wonderful, lots of trade deals.......Quizqueen you have a very optimistic view of the future, not one I can share. I will remind you of your Pollyanna economics as I sit and watch High Street shops close one after the other wait for the glut of EUimported goods to be sold cheaply

The B word is banned in house, from everyone that crosses the threshold. The leaflet will be another waste of valuable money. I would it sooner go to schools, police or hospitals as someone else has said.

I didn't get the May leaflet either - or the one from Cameron which stated that crashing out without a deal would be the default position.

That was the danger of voting to Leave - you didn't actually know what you were voting for beyond <vague wave of hand> leaving the EU.

I don't know whether it could apply to pensions, but Lloyds of London (yes, you did read this correctly) opened an office in Antwerp last year, and are now insuring all European shipping (commercial and private) from there and not from their head office in London.

So there may be a way round the pensions thing. I would look into having the pension paid into a British bank account then transferred to a European bank if it had been applicable for me.

People will moan if there's a leaflet and they will moan if there is isn't. Cameron's pre-Referendum one stated quite clearly that leaving the EU would mean leaving the Single Market and the Custom's Union, yet Remainers still insult Leavers because they say they didn't know what they were voting for when every household was told this fact by the PM.

May's Deal was actually leaving on No Deal terms too; it just gave an extra 2 years of continuity in order to negotiate one, BUT only after we had given the EU £39 billion and let them continue to rule over us during that process so you can surely guess how good a deal would have been offered. Didn't they want over £70 billion in the first place?

Trading on WTO terms is just a starting point if we leave with No Deal. Liam Fox had indeed already negotiated Free Trade agreements to continue with several countries which had similar terms with the EU, like Switzerland, Mexico, Israel and S Korea ( yes, the EU is willing to give those countries a Free Trade Deal but not us, apparently!).

The EU has never been our friend or ally; they just want our money and to flood our country with their subsidised goods, at our expense too! If the price of some foreign imported goods go up in the shops for a while after Brexit- guess what- you don't have to buy them- then sit back and watch the prices fall if there's a glut. If we lose a bit of export trade, initially, for our own home produced goods then step in and buy more of those British goods instead to keep our own companies afloat until trade deals with those countries are finalised. That is the patriotic thing to do, and not to keep on singing the praises of some power crazy foreign enterprise we unwilling joined in 1973 thinking it was just a trading agreement.
