paddyann well, I wouldn't want to be doing all that at her age; and she does keep very informed so that she can discuss their particular charity/country's issues knowledgeably with everyone she has to meet.

The Princess Royal just seems to get on with what she obviously feels is her duty as a royal. Not worried about what people think of her, no nonsense, never trying to be anyone’s favourite royal. I’m sure many of her functions are plain boring, and certainly not headline grabbing. Her sensible outfits and hairdo, no bare legs, gloves most of the time..... yes, some of the next generation of royals should look and learn.

My DH met Prince Charles many moons ago at the Royal Welsh Show and found him easy to talk to and genuinely interested in the agricultural machinery that DH had a hand in designing and despite having a tight schedule PC spent, what seemed an eternity, chatting and asking pertinent questions. Yes, I would far rather have the RF than a republic , unfortunately at the moment the behaviour of these two rather insignificant royals is overshadowing a lot of the good other members of the family do. This is sad because Prince Harry was, or seemed, a thoughtful caring popular young man (invictus games) of whom we could all feel proud, but now seems to be totally in thrall to his attention seeking exceedingly unroyal wife! (Duke of Windsor?!!) which isn't doing the RF any favours at all!

I remember reading that Harry has proposed 2 or 3 times to his past girlfriends and was turned down each time because the perks were not tempting enough for the young women to relinquish their freedom ... and I don't blame them. I think this explains why he hung on for dear life to Meghan and wanted to marry so quickly, and has picked someone who enjoys all the attention.

I hope he is happy and I hope it works out, but I would rather never be preached at again by either of them.

There'll never ever be a cessation in travel " to save the climate ". It's what people do whoever they are and I'd imagine that the smaller private jets that people use are far less of a gas-guzzler than the giants of the sky who fly 400 at a time.

We all do what we can regarding climate change, as a family we are guilty of “frequently flying” due to jobs, family and friends scattered across the globe.

The royals exactly like other vastly wealthy people in this country and around the world appear clueless as to how ordinary folk live.

I actually don’t have an issue with this.

However I do have a huge issue with the growing disparity between the wealthy and poor as well as the democratic gap this appears to be creating. The wealthy are clearly able to “buy” democracy through political influence. This is a far more serious problem than the sort of nit picking going on in this thread, and focusing on particular individuals.

As well as the British security detail that we paid for. Did Spain give us the bill for the five close protection officers from Spanish security forces who joined the group escorting them?
