To add some perspective, all Brexiter accusations against moderate MPs resisting a disorderly exit, only hold true if one assumes those MPs are acting in bad faith. If one accepts they honestly believe the consequences of no deal to be catastrophic, they are absolute heroes. ~

This, I think, is a point not made nearly often or strongly enough. These MPs are refusing to acquiesce to something that they believe will hurt a lot of people. Their position is supported by every piece of analysis. They are not "rebels". They are the adults in the room.

Hammond, who was yesterday readopted as the Conservative candidate by his constituency association, spoke with increasing anger about Boris Johnson, and in particular his advisor Dominic Cummings, describing him as an "entryist"and also poopooed any claim that negotiations are even going on with the EU.

There is also a piece in today's Telegraph, where Cummings was overheard admitting that the negotiations were "a sham".

Sorry not very clear on my above post...... I despair the “entrenched” opposing positions.

I sincerely hope that GN is not a mirror of the “real world” because if so I despair.

I cannot see a solution acceptable to either side.

Perhaps the main parties should cancel their conferences (I assume they would have taken out “cancellation insurance”) be put in “lockdown” inside the H of P until they have sorted out this flipping mess.

It would be interesting to see a list of rebels who will be de-selected, if Johnson carries out his threat.

Not one of those busily criticising my comment on Cummings has also said the same when posts have suggested that Trump may be suffering from some sort of dementia.

gg13 the comment was made in light of Cummings blog and his speeches etc. I did not make the comment from ignorance. My first career was in special education.

I’m not at all surprised GG13 by it, these casual assumptions that somebody is ‘on the spectrum’ ( usually somebody they don’t like!) are all too often bandied about.?

Cummings sees it as exactly that. He is totally a-moral and cares nothing for either the Tory party and especially for our country.

The end game is all he cares about. I suspect he is on the spectrum.
