It's Bristol. The current Mayor is Marvin Rees - I thought he would make a refreshing change from his predecessor but he has proved to be a huge disappointment. He said he would have a "rainbow" cabinet, with people from all parties to represent the views of everyone - he has gradually changed that so only members of his own party are in positions of influence.

Which council is it sunseeker? Our mayor is Andy Burnam. Here in Manchester we had a referendum asking if we wanted a mayor or not. The result was over 60 percent saying no, we did not want a mayor.
The result of our referendum was ignored and a Tory mayor was imposed on our city.
After an election, Andy Burnam became our mayor.
I don't see him as a moses in the trough sort of chap though because he donates a percentage of his income to help our homeless.

Which council is this?
Some of your accusations app;y locally, but we don't have an elected mayor.

Whether national or local government and regardless of the parties in power, we seem to be living through a culture of noses in the trough ?

It has been announced on local radio that the local council are to consider an increase of 20% in the elected Mayor's "allowance" (salary).

Bearing in mind under his "leadership", all public toilets have been closed, some libraries closed with others under threat, money earmarked for the education of children with special needs had to be returned to the government as it wasn't spent, election promises to build 2,000 homes not honoured, money wasted on paid "consultants" who deliver a report with a result everyone already knew, I could go on!
