The family firm.

Photos of Princess Charlotte's first day at school with her brother Prince George, show us how well their mother, Catherine, has fitted into The Firm.
Delightfully normal and without any pretentious, she and her husband simply get on with life, neither courting nor studiously avoiding the publicity that goes with the job.
She looks wonderful in the pictures taken by the DM and the family is a fitting continuation of our monarchy.

You make a good point Bridgeit, but I think we’d know if father had met grandchild, we quickly enough knew that mother met him.

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 22:24:37

Maddyone we don’t actually know the truth about any of it.

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 22:22:51

No that’s not how I meant it, although that covers it, what I meant was that they may ( hopefully) get a Stern talking to from she who must be taking seriously ( as in many households) Granny, who else ?

maddyone Sat 07-Sept-19 22:21:47

For my money, I think that perhaps the thing that I find particularly horrible about Meghan is her refusal to let her father meet his grandchild. How would any of you grandparents on here feel if your adult child did that. Try reading the estrangement thread and seeing the searing pain caused by estrangement. I fully realise that the man made a terrible mistake in allowing the press to photograph him in the way he did, but exactly as I’ve said about Meghan, he doesn’t really understand the monarchy and how it works. I think maybe a person needs to be brought up in a monarchy to understand (whether they agree with it or not.) Gradually he would have come to understand, with guidance and advice. But first he was excluded from her wedding and now from his grandchild. I’m surprised Harry goes along with this. And then on top of this we see messages on bananas saying rubbish like ‘you are special’ or whatever it was. There’s an expression, ‘Charity begins at home’ and Meghan would do well to put it into practice.

Bridgeit you did say ‘perhaps they will be better advised in the future. This can only be read as they were advised .

Can we say ‘perhaps Andrew will be better advised in the future’ ?

Sorry but I disagree ‘it is rare to find anyone who practices what they preach’

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:55:17

It is rare to find anyone who practices what they preach, MM & Harry are no exception, once can be seen as rather hypocritical, twice or more could be seen as arrogance.
We will have to wait & see ( or as I am doing ) reserve judgement to see how it all pans out.
I hope that the good that they have /can/ will do in the future will lessen the effect of this particular incident.

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:47:57

Nooooo Annie, I think you know that is not what I meant.

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-19 21:46:03

So every mistake made is the fault of advisers ?

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:34:39

I don’t understand why anyone is surprised.
We all live unequal lives, on a good day I try to see the good that some try to do despite the fact that they are in a better financial position than others.
They are obviously a bit , dare I say dim, not to have anticipated or have been advised of the likely reaction from the public. Perhaps we can put it down to love goggles obliterating common sense & perhaps they will be better advised in the future.

No digging of claws, many are critical of someone making a
barefoot lecture then flying by jet.

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:14:20

It’s new blood for them, ( the press) and sadly some of us to dig our claws into

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:11:58

Well exactly.

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-19 21:11:32

The press make money out of all the Windsors and celebrities

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:06:48

Their not there, Grammatical blip!

Bridgeit Sat 07-Sept-19 21:05:09

Let’s face it MM has a dedicated band of critics, in there eyes she will never be able to do right for doing wrong.
Why torture yourselves? Just ignore the media coverage. The press are making money out of them , every cloud as they say ?

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-19 20:36:50

Really trisher you never comment on how people behave?

trisher Sat 07-Sept-19 20:33:31

So we have the usual goodies and baddies utter tripe about the RF and their family ties. They are simply rich people who live their lives the way rich people do. Why on earth anyone thinks they can somehow approve or disapprove of how they behave I don't understand. It's a bit like King Canute ordering the waves back. And it isn't criticism, it's bitching. And the fact that GN posters don't know MM's work means nothing most of us (and I include myself) aren't really in touch with the names of modern media stars.

merlotgran Sat 07-Sept-19 20:21:55

trisher Most of us were very approving of Meghan when she and Harry married. We all acknowledged her earning power and ambition and thought she would be a welcome addition to the RF. It's how she has behaved since then that is attracting criticism.

So what if she earned her own money? Most of us had never heard of her as an actress so it doesn't cut any ice. If her acting career meant that much to her she wouldn't have so readily given it up.

trisher Sat 07-Sept-19 20:07:11

Oh yes and of course the money you can earn in jobs like that funds a lifestyle like theirs. So they wouldn't need any from anyone else would they?

focused1 Sat 07-Sept-19 20:02:14

Tabloids print pictures of all Royal events . Not a normal day at a normal school but just an acknowledgement of a childs first school day . I am not bothered about her lifestyle as I just saw it as a predictable photo . One glance and go on to rerad the 'real news '.

Anniebach Sat 07-Sept-19 19:48:46

Not paid in the armed forces or Air Ambulance ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 07-Sept-19 19:09:57

trisher- well said.

trisher Sat 07-Sept-19 18:41:52

Wow can't women be bitchy! Poor old Meghan. When she married Harry she was worth approx £5 million. She was paid £37,000 for each episode of Suits. She has done other TV work and some films.
It seems to be bit much to criticise her for leaving a 4 month old and then comment that she hasn't done anything for months-apart from have a baby of course.
I can't stand any of the over privileged leeches but unlike Harry, William and Kate she actually worked for her money.

pinkquartz Sat 07-Sept-19 12:27:30

I would not have left my baby at 4 months to go abroad for any reason.........MM does seem to be in it for the fame.
I also find her refusal to let her Dad see his grandson very cruel. I don't believe he was the absent father.
It was her mother that left her and Dad took care of her. Yet now her mother is in her good books...... we don't know what is the truth here at all.
I don't really care but am curious to see how this plays out.

pinkquartz Sat 07-Sept-19 12:21:55

sarahellenwhitney

Yes I still think their lives are very easy and I bet Kate does have down days where she can switch off.

I think their time might be coming to a close...MM is definitely helping that to happen. Her behaviour doesn't fit at all.
