True Day6 that there is nothing far right about wanting to leave the EU. What is equally true, however, is that the whole of the far right and the extreme left want to leave the EU.

In such circumstances it puts you in association with bedfellows that you quite rightly would prefer not to know.

Corbyn wouldnt know marxism if he fell over it,he's hardly a socialist compared to the ones I grew up with ,thats why it always shocks me when those who say they're socialists on here think he's far eft ..its laughable .
I'm a socialist ,I live in a country with socialist leanings...hence the no tuition fees ,the baby box,the extra payments for struggling families ,the rise in carers allowance ,the huge new home building programme etc etc etc .

I dont think ANY of those are marxist or over the top ..its humanitarian and dare I say it CHRISTIAN to look after the elderly ,the poor .the sick and the vulnerable .

Why wouldn't Leavers go for a party promising that? There is no other agenda. And why on earth shouldn't the Conservative Party form an alliance to seek that result?

not at all- and totally different. Labour and Social Democrats have very similar aims, of social fairness and equality. Farage and co have shown to be racist with tendencies very close to fascism - and therfore not fit to be allied to. I'd thought that was simple and clear.

I think that the way parliament has savagely stitched up Brexit, is leading people who considered themselves to be moderate, becoming more far right in their views.

My hope is that it would be the last straw for the 10s of 1000s of fair, decent, broad church Conservatives and will backfire big time.

It makes sense for the Conservatives to do some sort of a pact with the Brexit Party regarding not contesting seats in a GE

It appears everyone, who thinks their country should be able to act independently in its own interests just as the majority of the others in the world do, are hard right. No, they are just right.

Are Japan, New Zealand, Canada examples of the hard right because they are independent? Should they join up and be controlled by China or the USA? Of course not, they are just normal countries who haven't been brainwashed into thinking they need controlling by someone else.

Not so sure, GagaJo. I live in a true blue Conservative constituency, but five times as many people voted for the BP in the Euro elections as for the Conservatives. I still think the Conservatives would win a GE here, but I was quite shocked that so many people could bring themselves to put a cross next to the BP. Looking at the overall figures, most of those were traditional Conservative voters.

Fingers crossed, the right wing vote will be split, which is presumably why Johnson is seeking some kind of electoral pact. Cummings loathes Farage, but I don't think Cummings is going to be around for much longer.

The tragedy is that it is the moderates and those that made the Tory party what it was who are being purged to make room for the hard right candidates.

Rory Stewart is right. It wouldn't just be a disaster for the Conservatives, but for the country as a whole.

In my ideal scenario, Brexit would be cancelled and then whichever party won the GE would put its head into gear and think seriously about regenerating the midlands and the north. Then go back to the country in ten (?) years and ask in an advisory referendum whether people think we should still be in the EU. If not, we should know very clearly what we're voting for and any leaving should be properly managed.
