Not fit for public office, never mind PM. NOT the way to behave in front of international press. Of course, NOT reported in the UK.

He just lives in a different world to the people he think he represents them in some way. I suppose, to give him the benefit of the doubt he said other, better things that weren't mentioned. Perhaps he'll visit a food bank tomorrow.

Fennel Tue 10-Sept-19 16:47:20

Labaik - so inappropriate.
Perhaps he has Aspergers - apologies to other Asperger sufferers.

Pantglas1 Tue 10-Sept-19 16:45:28

When Nicholas Siamese suggested that Princess Diana was unbalanced he was made to apologise and desist by John Major as it was deemed ungentlemanly!

Labaik Tue 10-Sept-19 16:44:13

He's been talking to children at a primary school today. His advice was to not waste their university years getting drunk and to learn latin.

Grandad1943 Tue 10-Sept-19 16:28:57

Well, after six successive defeats in the House of Commons it is little wonder that Johnson is somewhat on edge.

With more time on his hands perhaps he can go online an get a widget to fix the fidget. ?

Nandalot Tue 10-Sept-19 15:48:11

Yes, I agree, Annie. Just as I disliked the Gina Miller thread title I am uncomfortable with this one too, even though I am definitely not a Boris Johnson fan.

growstuff Tue 10-Sept-19 15:36:50

That's what I saw too Riverwalk. Even the undoctored version was a bit weird.

humptydumpty Tue 10-Sept-19 14:42:21

Wadesnan can we have some debate from you then about BJ's intention to leave the EU with no deal against the wishes of parliament as enshrined in this week's new law?

Riverwalk Tue 10-Sept-19 13:47:54

Haha! That's funny Riverbank! On the RTE clip you can't see anything but a blurred hand.

You must be looking at something different Oopsy - I can see his torso, head and arms. He runs his hand through his hair then does that strange arm-flexing action, just once; the doctored clip shows him doing it multiple times.

WadesNan Tue 10-Sept-19 13:40:23

So is criticism of Tory politicians - if they are Tory they must be racist, facist, wealthy toffs. I long for sensible debate about politicians policies rather than blaming them for who their parents were, where they went to school and where they grew up.

trisher Tue 10-Sept-19 13:33:51

Oh come on WadesNan criticism (often repeated ad nauseam) of Labour is everywhere on GN. But this thread is about a politician who behaved worse than a toddler would.

WadesNan Tue 10-Sept-19 13:26:57

Anniebach Surely you know by now that you can criticise any Tory politician to your hearts content but must never never criticise a Labour politician, particular not Mr. Corbyn (he who must be obeyed)

Labaik Tue 10-Sept-19 13:25:41

Actually, I'm no great fan of Corbyn but he's acting incredibly statesmanlike at the moment, especially sitting opposite the face pulling, shouting people surrounding Johnson last night.

Lessismore Tue 10-Sept-19 13:22:32

Ah, I didn't have to wait long.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 13:20:26

Neat, tidy, almost anonymous?

Corbyn surely for the 3rd

Labaik Tue 10-Sept-19 13:20:03

Apart from writing all those silly articles Johnson has always been pro Europe. He only joined the leave campaign as part of his plan to one day be PM; he never expected leave to win. He now can't backtrack; he's in too deep. What that is doing to him, mentally I dread to think. I remember reading articles about people who live a lie and it tortures them. I don't think [unlike Farage] that he's actually a bad person, and I certainly wouldn't want to be him at this moment in time.

Labaik Tue 10-Sept-19 13:13:38

Well, he's the one that gained popularity by using bumbling clown like behaviour to get it. I did, like many others, assume that he would become statesmanlike when PM but, alas, the shambolic behaviour doesn't appear to be an act; he really is like that.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 13:02:28

2019, and ‘nutter ‘is still acceptable to some.

SirChenjin Tue 10-Sept-19 13:01:03

to Brussels

SirChenjin Tue 10-Sept-19 13:00:23

Perhaps it's a nervous tic, brought on by the realisation that he's going to have to go the Brussels and negotiate his way out of this mess with countries he's systematically insulted over the years.

It must be the Boris equivalent of waking up and find that you didn't just dream you were naked in front a bunch of strangers, you actually are. Hell mend him.

Gonegirl Tue 10-Sept-19 12:56:41

I dissed your post lessismore, not you. Think we are allowed to do that.

It is idiotic to suggest Boris is mentally unwell.

Doodledog Tue 10-Sept-19 12:54:49

Personalities are one thing, this is quite another. He wasn't flicking his hair back, he was behaving very oddly, and appearing to be paying no attention to his host's speech.

Last night, a friend of mine sent me the link from the Irish Times posted above, and I was quite shocked. The UK is fast becoming a laughing stock, and this is not going to help.

If Johnson has mental health issues, he really needs to get treatment, and lets someone else take over the role of representing us on the world stage.

Lessismore Tue 10-Sept-19 12:53:57

Gonegirl , you are very rude.

please stop writing silly, rude things.

I have not made a total rubbish remark.

I actually feel some concern and empathy for BJ. He seems way out of his depth and unwell in my opinion.

I think I am right in saying it's ok for me to have an opinion?

Gonegirl Tue 10-Sept-19 12:50:13

Does anyone remember any other PM fidgeting like that?

Churchill puffing on his cigar?

Gonegirl Tue 10-Sept-19 12:49:13

Part of the job is to look neat, tidy almost anonymous.

Oh yeah. God forbid we should have any personalities anywhere.

Total rubbish remark.
