Pharma companies have stockpiled plenty of medicine in uk. I know this for a fact. This is the media etc scaremongering. Yes I think most people will be worried about money.

Do we as parents/grandparents have a responsibility to vote in line with the wishes of our descendants? After all, they will inherit our decisions long after we are gone and we do seem to have made rather a mess of things lately

Paperbackwriting you are confusing my comment with someone else's. My son spoke of retirement which I frankly don't intend to do until I'm forced
I think it would probably be more to the point to have clear information about exactly what might happen, and what the implications of any vote might be. I’m sick to death of political ‘fudging’ and would like to be treated as an intelligent adult and provided with truthful information so I can make a thought through decision. I thoroughly dislike the drama and populism that seems to characterise politics now.
I wonder how many of those 'living hand to mouth', have huge tvs, drink, smoke, have umpteen chikdren they can't afford, don't manage their income effectively and have no intention of working.
Some? None? 50%? 1%?
chikdren children
Health charity spokespeople are not media. Minister officials have been asked to respond and reassure wrt medicine shortages, they aren't able to do this.

Tell us how you know for a fact what stockpiles big Pharma have.
People on national minimum wage don't earn enough in my area to even meet their basic needs.
I have shares in AstraZenica, Merck and Novartis and it's business as usual.
Absthame, totally with you and can only quote you on it and here it is:-
As a parent, grand parent and great grand parent I have always voted for what I believe is in the best interests of the generations that follow me. That's not just for my family but for all those who follow within the nation and the world.
Why else would I not follow the lead of the likes of Boris or Trump, on that path that would put self interest before everything else?
I work in pharma!
Voting up until retirement only? Why? If I’m good enough to pay taxes in my dotage I want a say in how the money is spent!
It's only a paper he wrote for his degree TATT, he isn't coming for your vote. The other options for a paper were reducing the voting age or adding employment criteria. He makes a very good case and obviously scored well.
Getting really sick of being told that I live very comfortably & am extremely well off in my old age! I really wish that those statements were true! How dare someone with ,as my Grandmother would have said, the cradle marks still on their backsides tell me at what age I can no longer vote as I will not be alive too much longer! I am as entitled to vote & to decide what to vote for after living & fighting to live all my life! I have seen the way the world has been ruined for years! I have voted for most parties over the years depending on their intentions so am not a supporter of any party! I took into account each time what my children & grandchildren may want for their future & also what I wanted for my future however limited mine may be! So no one who has only seen half of the things that I have seen should tell me what to do or assume that I am so well off! I lost my house after marriage broke up, rent a cheap place now & live alone on my state pension! Broken but not defeated!
I vote for who I want. Everyone has different view points and unless we can look into the future we don't know who was right!
We didn't discuss which way to vote in my family. My DH and I made our decisions before voting and then asked each other what we'd vote for. Both of us voted remain. We were shocked by the results! Then we asked our three AC how they voted. They had voted remain too and were just as shocked by the results. Out of ten women in one of my groups, I was the only one who'd voted remain. When I asked them what persuaded them to vote Brexit, they told me that that they felt overwhelmed by the number of foreigners and immigrants. I asked them what I had asked myself before I decided which way to vote, "What would UK economy look like"? Their answer was, "It'll be sorted and we'll manage as we've always managed". I must say that I was really alarmed by this because I thought and still think that we must have a road map for this before deciding one way or the other. I could just throw myself into an unknown territory just because I thought this is the only way to deal with foreigners or immigration. I couldn't let my emotions get in the way of what I thought was best for the whole country which would have naturally been best for my kids, grand kids, ... and myself. And the thought of this country falling in with America made me feel very insecure too. I find Europe a much more sensible bet than the USA.
I firmly believe that everyone should follow their own conscience when they vote.
My adult son and I have agreed to differ on politics. He will probably never vote for the party I vote for, nor I for his.
My husband and I are in agreement on politics, but if we were not, each of us would vote for what we believed in.
If you and your descendents are not in agreement then they may not care for your decisions or you for theirs. In that case it is probably best not to discuss who you vote for.

That's a very broad statement and means not a lot. I could say I worked in finance but that could mean as a teller in Barclays or Vice President of Citibank.
Correction: I couldn't just throw myself into an unknown territory ....
Making informed decisions....Regardless of political persuasion or country of origin, when we go to the polls, our biggest responsibility is to educate ourselves about all the issues surrounding an election.
When we are well informed we are less likely to let anybody down. That is also an important lesson to instill in our children and grandchildren.
A well informed person is better equipped to consider all possible outcomes and to choose more wisely.

???
I would vote for what I thought was best for the present and the future as I imagine people always do.
Not sure why you having shares in a few pharma companies makes you think you know what contingency plans are in place @GabriellaG54?
I have worked in pharma for many years and like any other big companies they will be looking at external challenges and making appropriate plans. It’s smaller retailers that will suffer most I would have thought. Those that can’t afford to stockpile. Give some credit to the leaders in these (Pharma) industries. They are not as disorganised at the government, they generally know what they are doing.
I am in a position to know what is happening but that’s not something I can share with you sorry.
Sb74 - so consultant neurologist who advised the government and said quite clearly 'l am sure that people will die if there is a chaotic no deal Brexit' was wrong? You should give him the benefit of your wisdom.
