Boris getting tough with EU

Even his own Conservatives MPs are against his No Deal plan - could you do the maths please. 21 + 50 = what kind of majority in HoC?

Latest polls show Boris has most of the country behind him. People are sick to death of the uncertainty and want it over with by 31st October so we can move on. However, he is stuck between a rock and a hard place with remoaners snapping at his heels on one side (to extend or cancel Brexit) and the Brexit Party on the other side (no deal is better than a bad deal). If we don't leave on 31st October the Brexit Party will step up and who knows what will happen then.

Brexit = buying a new car. From the car showroom you walk into (aka the EU). You want a deal.

The salesman wants to give you a deal. Then someone locks the door! You CANNOT leave without ‘a deal’ (say the Remainer MP’s).

You can’t just go ‘to another car showroom’.

So you’re stuck. You try getting a good deal under these circumstances - it’s crazy!

I agree, Varian. Or you go to the showroom just down the road instead, as there are plenty of them to choose from.

Seems like a crazy analogy to me!

Imagine going into a car showroom for example and the car salesman knows you will HAVE to leave with a deal on a new car. He’s not going to come up with his best offer is he as he doesn’t have to - you WILL be leaving with a car

Or more realistically, the reality of Brexit which is - you are persuaded that your existing car is costing you too much money and the sales rep can give you a much better car - but you don't know what make or model it is, you don't know if the boot is big enough, or if it's manual or automatic, or how much it's going to cost you each month, or if you like the colour, or if your family will fit in it and so on and on. No-one in their right mind would sign on the dotted line without knowing what they were signing up to.

If you drive to a car showroom, park outside, go in and discuss buying a new one, then if you don't get a good deal, you walk away and drive home in your old car. You have not lost anything. If we leave the EU we will lose big time. That is the true analogy.
