I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

Definition of "hero"-^a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities^
Does ANYONE really think Boris is any of those? Even if you ignore the fact tht he secured a worse deal that any of TMs. That he repeatedly promised there would be no border between N Ireland and England and there will be. That he has yet to win a vote in Parliament . And that he left behind a trail of incompetence and possible illegality as Mayor of London you still can't name a single heroic action, because there aren't any.

No more to say really. (Hope link works)

Lemongrove did you mention sparkling chilling in the fridge and who mentioned fireworks? It sounds to me like we have the start of a party, count me in. Maybe BJ will join us. Do you think JRM might join in too? I wonder if he possesses casual clothes for a knees up.

I am trying to lighten up the atmosphere as what started as a lighthearted thread for fellow Leavers has broken down into a slanging match.

And yes that chap who shouts down the evening news presenters needs an apple stuck in his mouth to shut him up. I bet he has a sore throat. ?

suziewoozie Sun 20-Oct-19 22:21:23

Why on earth would this be deleted?

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:21:00

Keep going Boris the silent majority are with you

Not if all the recent opinions polls are anything to go by

BlueSapphire Sun 20-Oct-19 22:13:08

Well, outing myself aprilrose, but I'm with you.. Always have been anti, voted against it in the 70s, and my views have not changed.

sf101 Sun 20-Oct-19 22:11:55

I'm with you aprilrose 100%. They say we should be in it to make changes from the inside but didn't Cameron try that and totally failed hence the referendum in the first place.
I can remember when we joined the common market - a very good idea for trading - what we have now is a bureaucratic nightmare and a fat gravy train for far too many people.
Keep going Boris the silent majority are with you.

Appear to have

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:10:27

It’s identity politics Maw and unfortunately it’s becoming the norm in a world where facts and opinions have appear to equal status.

MawB Sun 20-Oct-19 22:07:01

Well I hated the thought of formalised “cliques” on GN anyway and am thoroughly sick of the increasingly binary atmosphere on GN.
Cavaliers and Roundheads, cowboys and Indians, mods and rockers, Liverpool and Everton - I have never liked this obsession some people have with aligning themselves and applying it to everything.
Like Groucho Marx I do not want to belong to any club whose standards are low enough to have me as a member.

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 22:05:23

Can you repost or link to the facts I’ve requested Urm or not?

Or was it perhaps simply your opinion that amongst the minority Leavers in Scotland and N Ireland there may be some who think Boris is a hero, but of course that doesn’t mean he’s actually being hailed as a hero right across Britain (or the UK if you’re factoring in NI)?

Just so I’m clear on whether we’re talking facts or opinions here smile

Gonegirl Sun 20-Oct-19 22:02:15

MawB It aint on the other thread. Other thread's not there anymore. grin

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 22:01:35

I think you are purposely having a dig. I do post facts. The experts you quote may disagree with the ones I read. But there you go. There are two sides to this Brexit coin. This thread has Boris’ face on it (and it’s not 2-faced before you jump in!)

MaizieD Sun 20-Oct-19 21:58:39

Ug says I do post facts

With the greatest respect, you don't. You posted a whole load of untrue stuff about the EU on another thread.

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 21:50:43

Oh really Urm? I must have missed the facts which show Boris is being hailed as a British hero in Scotland and N Ireland - can you repost it or point me to it please?

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 21:48:01

Sjc I do post facts. They are just from different experts than you. Doesn’t make them less valid.
?
Yours,
Pollyanna

Lyndylou Sun 20-Oct-19 21:43:35

I have managed over the last 3 years to have reasonable discussions about the EU with leavers and remainers with family, friends and work colleagues without it generating into any name calling. I usually bore people with my viewpoint that I have lived and worked on the continent before and after our entry into the EU and I have seen the greed of the EU Commission myself. I am more than happy for the UK to be a member of a European Union, just not this one. People like Junker, Tusk, the Kinnocks are motivated by greed and an over inflated view of self importance.

I believe the euro is heading for trouble and, even though we are not in the euro, we would still be expected to pick up a large part of the bill.

I voted, reluctantly, to remain out of fear of Russia and China but it is obvious now the EU will just roll over to both. Given the chance now to vote again I would vote leave.

Thank you aprilrose for providing me with a safe space to say this.

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 21:42:26

As I said Urm you’re way off the mark and are desperately trying to see the positives. I am fascinated by your blind optimism in the face of absolutely no facts to back up your claims ??????????????

Opal Sun 20-Oct-19 21:42:08

Well, I went offline for a few hours, and came back to six pages of remainer rhetoric - told you they would soon appear aprilrose. To all the leavers out there, I think we should have a "virtual" party when we leave the EU - any takers? [grin}

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 21:38:58

Well thank you Grandad1943 your comment was most gallant and I’m honoured you think that way about my tenacity!
?

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 21:35:51

Maybe not you Scj (well, obviously not) but I still think Leavers in Scotland & NI will be glad of Boris. Why not? They weren’t in the majority there, fair enough, but as quite a few voted Leave they’ll be glad of the progress Boris is making. Very few want No Deal. And Theresa May was useless. She treated the whole thing as an exercise in damage limitation whereas Boris is upbeat and energising!

Grandad1943 Sun 20-Oct-19 21:33:32

Well, I am off this thread and the forum now Urmstongran as i am off to our offices in Belgium early in the morning.

However, i know we are on opposite sides of the fence on Brexit UG but I do really respect your views, and that you are prepared to stick to them through "thick and thin" while other brexitiers head for the nearest bolt hole when their argument is not going so well.

Keep it up Urmstongran, and I really mean that.

MawB Sun 20-Oct-19 21:32:32

Might be on the “other” thread.

Urmstongran Sun 20-Oct-19 21:30:41

Sorry I’m being dim here Maw but I don’t see what you mean. I can’t find what lemongrove has said??

SirChenjin Sun 20-Oct-19 21:27:08

Given that NI didn’t vote to leave then it’s safe to assume they don’t see him as a British hero - and we certainly don’t here in Scotland.

Unless you can point me to something which says otherwise I’ll assume you actually meant England and Wales but typed British in error.
