I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

Exactly Clarke is so red Labour voters vote for him. Conservative in name only.

Labaik Tue 29-Oct-19 23:27:58

Clark? You mean one of the most respected Conservative MP's of all time; one that even Labour supporters vote for in his constituency? No loss to the Conservative Party?? Oh well, they've got the charismatic Mark Francois now, I suppose confused….

Eloethan Tue 29-Oct-19 23:20:24

"Drain the swamp" - Trump's election slogan I believe.

newnanny Tue 29-Oct-19 23:04:15

Yay at last a GE. Time to drain the swamp. grin The ones who are going are no loss onservatives at all Grieve, Hammond, Letwin, Gauke, Stewart and Clark. I am hoping I will get Brexit for Xmas. What better day to come out than New Years Eve! Go Boris.

Chestnut Tue 29-Oct-19 22:59:46

That GE may not solve anything.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 29-Oct-19 22:29:25

I'm beginning to think you would cheer if a Tory dog was sick Lemongrove. They lost 11 Tories in the process.

Alexa Tue 29-Oct-19 22:20:24

The Guardian tends to leftish views because unlike the Daily Mail, it's not populist.

A populist is someone who influences others by means of slogans and simplistic views which lack substance. And that is what the owner of the Daily Mail does.

If you read the Guardian you will find deep analyses of news and current affairs.

lemongrove Tue 29-Oct-19 21:37:01

GE on for Dec 12th ?
Ten Conservative rebels back in the fold again.

varian Tue 29-Oct-19 20:21:30

Wait and see

The leavers certainly look worried about being thwarted
Only in your dreams.

The leavers certainly look worried about being thwarted.

Chestnut Tue 29-Oct-19 16:38:05

Well said Lemongrove especially the last sentence.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 29-Oct-19 16:34:53

lemongrove I totally agree with your post 16.29

lemongrove Tue 29-Oct-19 16:29:27

We don’t criticise GN members for the way they vote in a GE do we, so why do Remainers ( should I say ultra Remainers)
Criticise the way posters voted three years ago?
At least....we never did, but am thinking that if the Johnson government is returned with a healthy majority ( quite possible) then certain posters would be criticising other posters quite loudly on the politics pages ( instead of having a go at politicians.)I think it shows how GN and probably most social media sites have changed over the years, and not for the better.
We didn’t do this in the past did we? We went out and voted, and sometimes Labour won and other times the Conservatives and we all accepted it, democracy in action.
Nowadays some people accept nothing, if it doesn’t mirror their exact thinking and they feel thwarted, then they howl about it.

Opal Tue 29-Oct-19 15:22:51

Dinahmo - my request for justification was purely mimicking what remainers have been doing to leavers for the last three years. The fact that some remainers are up in arms about it speaks volumes. The phrase "Do as say, not as I do" springs to mind.

Dinahmo Tue 29-Oct-19 14:48:42

Joelsnan I haven't said that it's unpleasant. In fact I think it's all part of the game.

Dinahmo Tue 29-Oct-19 14:47:33

The Guardian regularly has opinion columns by people who support Brexit and who disagree with the leadership of the Labour Party which would suggest that it is impartial. Unlike the Express, the Torygraph and the Times, all of whom have right wing tax avoiders as their owners.

maddyone Tue 29-Oct-19 13:12:49

The Guardian is a well known left supporting paper. I’m surprised anyone could seriously think it’s impartial. Oh dear.

Alexa Tue 29-Oct-19 13:03:51

The Guardian newspaper is impartial because unlike the Daily Mail it's not owned by somebody whose interested is vested in a political party.

Joelsnan Tue 29-Oct-19 12:12:26

Dinahmo
The request for justification is just what leavers have had to contend with for 3+ years...not very pleasant is it?

maddyone Tue 29-Oct-19 12:04:52

Anyone who’s got time to read the numerous links, not to mention find them, can’t have much else to do, so I wouldn’t worry Dinah.
And many of them come from The Guardian or Twitter, neither of which could be shown to be impartial.

Dinahmo Tue 29-Oct-19 11:58:15

Urmstongram Two Leavers criticised me because my list of reasons didn't supply links and evidence in support. Had I supplied that info my post would have been several pages long.

Urmstongran Tue 29-Oct-19 10:52:24

I’m happy to ‘bite’ (or engage) on any other Brexit thread MaizieD as I have and do - just ask Grandad1943! He recently thanked me for being one of the Leavers who are prepared to stay and debate. -

There are actually a few of us Leavers who do but as it’s mostly Remainers (always banging on like Nonnie ‘please would someone give me 3 reasons why they voted Leave and I might change my mind’ or GGmk2 and Whitewavemk3 with their requests for links and evidence) on the Brexit threads, it can be daunting so no wonder a lot of Leavers back off. They probably don’t have the time or the inclination 3+
years on, to be still doing so, ad nauseum!

I enjoy this simpler, chatty thread. It makes a refreshing change.

That comment was harsh and uncalled for crystaltipps I expected better from you!

maddyone Tue 29-Oct-19 09:52:30

Well said GrannyGravy.

maddyone Tue 29-Oct-19 09:51:28

But Maizie, actually I think you ‘don’t give a toss’ to use your own expression, how any leavers feel. They have been subjected to a lot of verbal abuse on Gransnet over the last couple of years.
I don’t want to make anyone feel like dirt under my shoe, including crystal. Do you care how I feel?
