What would you do? (Trust dilemma)

I’m sorry, but I’m not sure which forum to post my dilemma on, so I hope it’s ok here.

The thing is, I have got someone lined up to do a job for me in the house, well actually it’s to install a new central heating system and boiler.

He seems like a really nice guy, ever-so posh and a really good laugh. He has promised me that he will get the job done quickly and has given me a really good quote for the job.

The thing is, I’ve asked around and found that he has never actually completed any job to anyone’s satisfaction, has told one lie after another and is a bit of a ladies’ man (although this last doesn’t bother me). He is apparently being investigated for fraud in one job he did. I even asked his sister what she thought and she said she wouldn’t trust him.

He has promised me that he will get the job done by 31st October or he'll die trying, but to be honest some of the things he is planning to do to cut corners seem a little bit left of the law to me. I am also a bit concerned that he has not actually signed the quote he has given me.

I would really value everyone’s opinion – do you think I should trust him and let him into my house?

As posted on another thread, with speculation as to reason, Laura Kuenssberg is apparently in No 10 conducting a hastily arranged interview with someone about a CH contract.....

flowers Gonegirl. No meanness intended, as I said in my Tues post (Not OP).

Drum1234 Thu 24-Oct-19 16:16:57

Love this thread! Very clever, and very witty. Made me laugh out loud. Keep it up, ignore the negativity.

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 16:11:16

You don’t have to like everything on Gransnet GG <shrug>

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 15:54:38

It was funny and witty - not silly at all.

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 15:47:54

Oh, and silly it maybe, Gonegirl, that is a matter of personal opinion. But going round the internet: no it is not, not at my hands anyway.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 15:47:32

Yes, I read it.

I've already explained.

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 15:45:38

Gonegirl, did you actually read my post of Tues 22nd Oct. 23:58:19? If you didn't, it is unfair to pass judgment.
No one has complained on or off the thread, so I repeat, who are the victims of this alleged meanness?

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 15:44:28

The only mean person on this thread is GG she also called me effing <sob>

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 15:34:50

But you did trick well-meaning Gransnetters into giving you advice.

I just don't like it.

And it sounds like one of those silly things that go round on the internet.

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 15:34:27

You weren’t being mean and no-one apart from GG has complained (which is hardly unusual). It was a very funny thread which provided a much needed break from the many more serious Brexit threads. Always better to laugh - otherwise you’d cry smile

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 15:27:09

Gonegirl Please see my post of Tues 22nd Oct. 23:58:19. Who do you believe I have been mean to? If any Gnetter believes I have been mean to them on this thread, I will apologise.

I did not intend this thread to be mean to anyone, certainly not Gnetters.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 14:25:21

GG so charming.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 14:08:56

You on the other hand, sound a right bundle of laughs. Not.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 14:08:19

OK Effing sooziewoozie!

I have got a sense of humour. Just not on this level.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 13:39:55

It’s like commenting on a smell when you have lost your sense of smell

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 13:39:25

GG if you haven’t got a sense humour then you can’t really comment on whether something is funny or not can you?

grapefruitpip Thu 24-Oct-19 13:35:24

You bloody need one to survive on GN , that and rhino hide.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 13:12:54

No. I have no sense of humour whatsoever.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 12:18:00

It was very amusing not mean at all - some people have no sense of humour at all. Honestly ?

Nonnie Thu 24-Oct-19 12:13:15

Sorry folks, another one. You will be glad I'm going out shortly! The Clangers: twitter.com/i/status/1187299128121933827

Nothing original I'm afraid but apparently this is the party going on in EU right now.

To warn others of the dangers of falling for lies peddled by posho boiler salesmen of course.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 11:41:19

I think this thread's a bit mean. Clever, but mean.

Why do it?
