Brexit list - this one is different, really!

Thinking about the 50p coins which have been minted and are not now being used, what else can you list that was 'definite' and how long did it last before being pulled?

I'll start with an easy one: SJ said there would definitely be a budget in November and then, less than 24 hours later, said there wouldn't.

Watch Boris Johnson tell the DUP in 2018 he would never put border in the Irish Sea

Guess what's in his "great" WA? - a border in the Irish Sea.

Hope this isn't a duplication, the UK will explode if we don't leave on 31st. Mark Francoise.

SirChenjin Mon 28-Oct-19 16:56:38

LOL - I do the same with other names and I google them (being the good search engine that I am) to see what their names mean. A lot of lightbulb moments here, I can tell you! smile

Nonnie Mon 28-Oct-19 16:52:53

SirC while we hare enjoying this and laughing let me put myself up for ridicule. You had been on GN for quite some time before I 'got' your name! Haven't admitted it before but now I find myself trying to interpret everyone's!

SirChenjin Mon 28-Oct-19 16:35:58

Love it Nonnie grin

Has Boris chosen his ditch yet? He’s gone very quiet on that one.

Nonnie Mon 28-Oct-19 16:34:10

Not really for this thread but, as many of you seem to have a sense of humour I will put this in. I heard on the radio today that we have a 'nextension' !

Nonnie Mon 28-Oct-19 16:26:16

Katie Hopkins said: "We are out on 31st October. If I am proved wrong I will drink a pot of tea naked in the Apprentice losers cafe with Farages face on each nipple." sic. OK, I'm getting ahead of myself but I do hope she doesn't!

Not boring Greta that is what this thread is about. Personally I am delighted that my friends saw what was happening, one has dual nationality in another EU country, some EU friends have become British Citizens as has a non-EU friend. Let's not forget the 3 who have simply left the UK and taken their high qualifications and experience with them

Greta Mon 28-Oct-19 15:43:59

I know I will bore some of you with this but there was the solemn promise to all EU nationals that they would automatically be granted leave to stay. A bit later the settled status scheme was put in place. For some EU nationals it has worked, for others it is proving to be a nightmare.

lemongrove Mon 28-Oct-19 12:25:21 must you always?

SirChenjin Mon 28-Oct-19 14:50:20

Or it may just lose its fizz as it becomes old and tired - much like BJ and his cronies Brexit claims.

lemongrove Mon 28-Oct-19 14:09:31

Ah, dust can be brushed off ??? and the champagne may improve a bit with age.

mcem Mon 28-Oct-19 14:02:39

Oh dear, that champagne must be gathering dust!

lemongrove Mon 28-Oct-19 13:58:47

Well, who am I to stop any enjoyment that is out there??
It did start out well but then.......

Whitewavemark2 Mon 28-Oct-19 12:40:20

Maybe to you lemons but the rest of us are enjoying it.

lemongrove Mon 28-Oct-19 12:25:21

‘Brexit list-this one is different, really!’
Errrr, don’t think so Nonnie, looks much the same as all the others.hmm

Margs Mon 28-Oct-19 11:22:18

I shall keep my eyes open when walking the doggie and carefully inspect any ditches along the way in case I come across a spare Boris Johnson......but then, he's not very good at marriage vows so why would he keep any other promises?

varian Mon 28-Oct-19 10:31:47

The ability to cut red tape was a key Brexit prize—but the brexit supporters are in for a nasty shock.

The great Brexit irony is that leaving will mean more bureaucracy, not less.

The government has already had to employ 12,000 more civil servants to work on brexit, but that cost would pale into insignificance beside the enormous burden of form filling required by businesses both here and abroad to comply with the removal of frictionless trade.

Callistemon Mon 28-Oct-19 10:30:23

I'm not paying more than £1 for one
Although I could be persuaded to part with a fiver for the one that you've pictured, Urmstongran!

Nonnie Mon 28-Oct-19 09:40:28

Pantglas2 Sun 27-Oct-19 21:05:54 I think that is what will happen, I doubt they will ever get into circulation to become collectors items but I would love one and have started thinking about what to say inside the frame!

I read that each one minted has so far cost over £1, yet more money down the drain which could have been better used.

Amagran Mon 28-Oct-19 07:10:37

Maybe they'll be known as the Hubris Commemorative Coin.

Ginny42 Mon 28-Oct-19 01:22:23

Collectors would buy them and the Royal Mint could recoup some of their losses. In fact they may make more than the cost of manufacture as collectors' items.

AllotmentLil Sun 27-Oct-19 21:58:38

Agree SirChenjin and putting a smiley emoji after doesn’t make it one!

Pantglas2 Sun 27-Oct-19 21:05:54

Can’t they be melted and recast?

SirChenjin Sun 27-Oct-19 21:03:10

There’s nothing remotely funny about the Govt lying to HM (or Parliament or the public).
