Here are what Labour plans to do to help you decide whether Labour is right for you.

I will start to list their plans as they come out and add to them as they are announced.

Once the manifesto is published I will outline it in full for your perusal.

We will start with Brexit - just to get it out if the way.

Brexit

Negotiate a new deal within 3 months. (remember Labour has been talking to Brussels for 3 years)

People’s vote by May/June.

This vote will be legally binding. No ifs or buts.

Health

The NHS will never be up for sale

Universal Free prescriptions Not so expensive as it sounds. Remember approximately 90% of prescriptions are free at the point of use.

Social Welfare
free personal care for the elderly a very popular move. Funding will be announced next week.

Education.
end of university tuition fees - another popular move, that will please my grandson. He has opted to live at home and commute in order to keep his debt to a minimum. At the moment he will leave with at least £40K debt.

Tax

super rich avoiders/evaders will be targeted to ensure that they pay their fair share just as everyone else does

Consideration is being given to a financial transaction tax

Shorting, by hedge fund managers has meant that they are betting against our country and making millions - disaster capitalism. Labour proposes that these transactions should have a tax attached to them.

Employment

zero hours contracts many employers are getting vastly wealthy at their workers expense who are being exploited and effectively being paid less than the legal minimum wage level. Labour therefore proposes-

guaranteed minimum number of hours of work a week this will allow zero hours contract workers a semblance of normality and stability, and give them the chance to plan their lives.

minimum wage £10

Environment and Global Warming

Children are now growing up in our cities with reduced lung capacity due to the pollution emanating from various sources.

green new deal Labour proposes to set a target of net zero carbon by the 2030’s

Following the earthquakes
Labour will * immediately ban fracking*

Housing

Landlords are going to be encouraged to ensure there is more affordable housing. Councils and town planners are to be given more enforceable powers.

Slum landlords will be banned.

Free personal care for the elderly ? Can a momentum/Corbyn party supporter explain this please ?

You may not be aware of this Annie - I see you seem to be losing your memory a little. The party is called the "LABOUR" party - but no party has gone into detail yet. I watch with interest to see what they all say and how truthful those in the know consider ALL of them to be.

It will be interesting to see just how each party is intending to fund such things once the figures have been published - if all parties do, of course.

Very true, grapefruitpip, if the Daily Heil says it, it MUST be true. No ulterior motive at all!

Anniebach Fri 01-Nov-19 10:19:26

I have no trust in Johnson or Corbyn

Luckygirl Fri 01-Nov-19 10:16:54

I probably will - at the moment it looks as though they have the best chance here of kicking the sitting Tory out.

All parties make promises they do not keep.

Whether Corbyn is the greatest leader or not I could not vote for anyone who propped BJ up. I was reminded last evening of BJ's being complicit in trying to get someone beaten up as a favour to a friend. Sigh.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 01-Nov-19 10:10:00

annie patience!!

This will be fleshed out in the manifesto.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 01-Nov-19 10:09:24

That should be on the other thread sorry?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 01-Nov-19 10:08:18

If you want to dance to Trumps tune then vote Tory

The clearest message from Trump's interview on LBC is that he expects Johnson to dance to his tune

The desperation for a trade deal with US will force down standards even further

This would be our future under a Tory govt #GE2019

I'll be voting Labour (as I think most know). I want to see the poorest cared for, I want education to be properly funded, I want privatisation of the NHS stopped, I want a publicly owned rail service that runs efficiently a joined up service where people don't have to stand on a station and wonder if they can get on the next train or if their ticket is for a different rail company, and where profits are ploughed back in.(can you tell I was on a train last weekend?) I want utilities to be provided on a not-for-profit basis by a publicly owned company, because no-one should make profits out of supplying clean water and energy. And I want affordable housing and an end to food banks.
I do find it unbelievable that Boris is promising to fund the NHS and schools after years of cutting funding. And if anyone believes he will do it, just consider who cut the London Fire Brigade funding when he was Mayor and the results of that. Dose it take a major disaster to make us realise some things just have to be paid for?

Anniebach Fri 01-Nov-19 10:02:53

Free personal care for the elderly ?

Can a momentum/Corbyn party supporter explain this please ?

Does it mean all the elderly regardless of their financial situation.

All care homes for the elderly will be NHS run ?

katy1950 Fri 01-Nov-19 10:02:46

I voted Labour all my life that stopped when Tony Blair took us to war and then wrecked the economy and as for the current bunch of the Labour cabinet I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw

Whitewavemark2 Fri 01-Nov-19 10:02:10

Opinion

Ed Miliband
@Ed_Miliband
Lots of objections to class war appearing. Totally agree. Assault on welfare state, slashing top rate and corporate tax while imposing cuts on everyone else, driving people to food banks, Universal Credit, pay freezes, growth in zero hours. Where will it end? FFS.

grapefruitpip Fri 01-Nov-19 09:57:55

Johnson is on record as saying a lot of things isn't he?

Oh and Farage too....he said a few interesting things.

Luckygirl Fri 01-Nov-19 09:54:47

I will vote tactically to get the Tory out - yet to decide where my vote will go - awaiting candidate declarations.

grapefruitpip Fri 01-Nov-19 09:54:05

Why do you mock me Gaga, t'is the truth. You can read it in the papers.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 01-Nov-19 09:53:32

grapefruitpip Jeremy Corbyn is on record as saying he believes in feee movement of people and no limits on immigration.

I hope he has factored that into his housing/NHS/education budget.......?

GagaJo Fri 01-Nov-19 09:51:35

Hahaha, grapefruitpip, love it. Do people really think that way?

grapefruitpip Fri 01-Nov-19 09:47:49

Labour are baddies, they will take all your savings and let lots of naughty people into the UK.

Do try to keep up folks.

Fiachna50 Fri 01-Nov-19 09:42:46

This sounds like the Utopia the SNP keep promising us. Apart from which Labour is going to let SNP put us through the hell of another IndyRef2. No thanks. I will probably have to do a protest vote. I don't see any other way. I want to stay with my friends and in many cases my family in the UK.

Granny23 Fri 01-Nov-19 09:42:34

Quoting from the OP

Universal Free prescriptions Not so expensive as it sounds. Remember approximately 90% of prescriptions are free at the point of use.

Social Welfare
free personal care for the elderly a very popular move. Funding will be announced next week.

Education.

Just had to mention that these polices (and more) have already been enacted by the SNP led Scottish Government. If you will be voting in Scotland the choice is clear - either left of centre SNP or Ultra right TORY. The Scottish Labour Party is in total meltdown, barely reaching double digits in the polls. I should think that the LIBs will do well in their traditional seats, but a wasted vote elsewhere.

BTW if I hear the BBC once more refer to the Libs as the 3rd biggest party contesting this Westminster election, I shall explode.

GagaJo Fri 01-Nov-19 09:40:23

Do you know that tuition fees are only slightly less expensive to the UK than grants? So many get written off and the administration costs are so high. Generations of Britons are being saddled with life long debt for a minor saving.

Grany Fri 01-Nov-19 09:37:30

Ha Grannygravy13 So Johnson is out of his depth and have a 2 trillion debt so can't manage the economy haven't a clue except giving it away to their rich mates and let the poor suffer with austerity, criminal

GrannyGravy13 Fri 01-Nov-19 09:37:29

Grany There is a whole world outside Europe/EU.

These Countries welcome the super rich and their money with open arms. Singapore, Monaco, The Isle of Man to name just a few.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 01-Nov-19 09:33:38

Anniebach If the current Labour Party were to get in, I think they would not only be amazed but scared that they would now have to act on their manifesto promises.

JC and his shower of a front bench would be so far out of their depth that no amount of life jackets would save them!!!

Grany Fri 01-Nov-19 09:32:57

GrannyGravy13

The very rich won't move their money as the tax rate here will be just below what European countries tax is so where will they move to?

Anniebach Fri 01-Nov-19 09:24:21

If the last truely left wing Labour Party was 1945 then proof the country doesn’t want a left wing party surely.
