Diane Abbott would be in charge of home security and immigration.

Suziewoozie, I missed the deleted post.

PernillaVanilla Wed 06-Nov-19 16:07:57

Diane Abbott has a normal way of speaking in the youtube clip following her first election. perhaps she needs tothink about some coaching as it seems to me she has lost her confidence in dealing with the media - not surprising given all the negative comments she gets.

suziewoozie Wed 06-Nov-19 15:46:32

WW you are being very silly - any fule nows that a Conservative is incapable of being incompetent (delete last three words)

Whitewavemark2 Wed 06-Nov-19 15:38:39

Blimey compare Abbot with Grayling and there is no contest?

Ooeyisit Wed 06-Nov-19 15:33:02

Jacob Rees mogg merely stated that it would be common sense to try to leave burning building , I would second that , However firefighters have to work to certain rules and the rules were stay put . I do hope I would have enough sense to get out ASAP . I am on no way saying those poor souls were stupid but if anyone is to blame for Grenville ,it isnt politicians ,it isnt the firefighters,It isn’t the police ,it isnt the residents .NO the people to blame are the manufacturers .Tis them who are to blame .

Good impressions of last 24 hours - JRM, JC, AC, BJ.

If Diane Abbott can stand up to the caustic (and very rude, if not abusive comments from some 'grans' on here) she is fantastic. Good luck to here.

And yes. Labour is going to win.

painting (my user name was never intentional but since listening to some of the tories on here, I would be proud to be lefter than I ever thought possible)…

after all, tories done bxxger all for me and my family.

Stop digging GG

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 15:20:42

Well, if she takes a high up job in government she will be shown to the world. We need people who will make good impressions.

suziewoozie Wed 06-Nov-19 15:18:06

The problem with DA is that some posters think ( I use the word loosely) making comments about a fling that happened 40 years ago and comments on her appearance is acceptable and is supposed to pass for ‘political comment’.

Tooting29 Wed 06-Nov-19 15:09:49

The problem with Dianne Abbot is that she doesn't come over well in interviews and under pressure of scrutiny. I am sure she is a very hardworking MP, but her performance in the media, gives an air of unpreparedness and lack of competence.

Callistemon Wed 06-Nov-19 14:39:50

I shouldn't say this - but looking at that picture what did she see in him?

Although I suppose that bearded student look was popular then.
I went out with someone who looked a bit like that for a while growstuff, frantically trying to remember his name, no, he wasn't a Jeremy. He didn't last long.

I think Diane scrubs up well.

Apologies for shallow post.

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 14:11:27

(I meant on the you tube one)

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 14:11:00

She had that vacant look even then.

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 14:09:31

No thank you.

growstuff Wed 06-Nov-19 14:09:07

Corbyn was the spitting image of somebody I loved madly (or thought I did). hmm

growstuff Wed 06-Nov-19 14:07:55

Here's Abbott in 1987 …

I'm no judge of women, but my opinion is that she was attractive, obviously bright and hard-working to have even gained a place at Cambridge (especially in those days) and made history as the first black woman MP. She would have been quite a catch to somebody with similar views.

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 14:05:24

I like strange. smile (to suziewoozie)

Oopsminty Wed 06-Nov-19 14:00:00

* he had that shaggy hairy look which we thought was really cool then. I would have*

Oh trisher!

I loved long shaggy haired blokes but I'd have run a mile from Jeremy.

suziewoozie Wed 06-Nov-19 13:57:19

Nope- I’ll stick with strange,

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 13:50:30

Not a strange mind suziewoozie. Just a bit different from yours. Thank God.

trisher Wed 06-Nov-19 13:40:36

Oh she was gorgeous and he had that shaggy hairy look which we thought was really cool then. I would have But then I made lots of bad choices in 70s, I wouldnt now (but there is the jam!!)

suziewoozie Wed 06-Nov-19 13:21:37

What a strange mind you have GG

Gonegirl Wed 06-Nov-19 13:15:53

Some people you just can't imagine being "young and attractive". Even if you wanted to. The pair of them definitely come into that category.

Nandalot Wed 06-Nov-19 13:15:50

Well, Boris Johnson’s speech is not exactly fluent with his ‘ers’ every four words or so.
