These are some of the subjects we can expect to be brought up

Wolfie.
I await Mr Neil's interview with Johnson with interest.

1. Jennifer Arcuri
2. Russian interference report suppression
3. Rampant Tory Islamaphobia
4. Johnson a serial liar
5. Johnson a homophobic
6. Tory austerity deaths
7. Tory dirty election stunts

And much, much more.

I wonder if "ignorant and illegitemate" applies to one of his children???

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Nov-19 21:07:44

Other stuff to look forward to

Boris Johnson branded children of single mothers 'ignorant&illegitimate' PM said a way needed to be found to "restore women's desire to be married" and said it was "feeble" of a man to be unable to "take control of his woman”

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Nov-19 21:04:03

This exactly what a right wing government does isn’t it? Controls information.

Something to look forward to folks

BREAKING: The Conservative Party is threatening to review Channel 4’s public service broadcasting obligations after it replaced Boris Johnson with an ice sculpture at tonight's debate

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Nov-19 20:55:44

He doesn’t have to bother because he knows that he’s got the vote regardless of what he does. You have to wonder don’t you?

varian Thu 28-Nov-19 20:46:47

If we had a well informed electorate, this "no show" should be a turning point in the election campaign, but sadly, we do not have a well informed electorate.

Don't expect to see "Boris too afraid to debate" as the front page headline in tomorrow's Daily Mail.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Nov-19 20:37:42

labaik not only did Gove turn up but so did Stanley, demanding to know where his son was.

varian Thu 28-Nov-19 20:35:53

They all did well, they answered questions, did not attack each other or try to talk over each other and I could not imagine Boris Johnson being a match for any of them.

Curlywhirly Thu 28-Nov-19 20:34:24

Just seen on BBC news Boris being interviewed - he was asked if he intends to be interviewed by Andrew Neil - he hummed an aahed, stuttered and stammered, and wouldn't give a direct answer - so looks like it won't be taking place after all!

GracesGranMK3 Thu 28-Nov-19 20:34:12

I didn't hear that Labaik, but it sound quite possible.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 28-Nov-19 20:33:03

Or empty chair him with pictures of him unable to reply. That's why he's not there.

I have to say Corbyn knows his topic well. Johnson's splattering would have been such a contrast to the knowledge of all of them.

Labaik Thu 28-Nov-19 20:22:39

Is it true that Gove turned up but was told it was for party leaders only ? grin. The fact is, Johnson wouldn't've been able to answer most of those questions, would he....

jura2 Thu 28-Nov-19 20:19:47

Andrew Neil should go ahead with the interview- empty chair Johnson with cardboard effigy...

GracesGranMK3 Thu 28-Nov-19 20:15:05

Johnson has been empty-chaired and replaced by a melting ice block, (as have his pals in the Brexit Party) on the Channel 4 Leaders Climate Debate on the climate emergency. It's very interesting.

Not surprising really, as I imagine almost all climate deniers are Leavers, far-right and brextremists. The arrogance of the man. I expect he thinks he can, in a God-like way, just command the climate to do as he chooses.

This evening on the news there was an item about government borrowing. They showed a graph with Labour the highest, then Lib Dems and at the bottom the Tories. Now Johnson and his cohorts are attacking Labour for the amount that they want to borrow.

However, the graph was then adjusted to take into account the affects of Brexit. If we leave with no deal, which seems to be likely (it's what the hard line Tories want) then the economy will collapse and the (Tory) government will have to borrow in order to fill the gap. The amount that was suggested that they would need to borrow substantially exceeded the LP projected borrowings.

Labaik, for sure ''Nicole0134; I think I'd rather depend on the EU than an America with Trump as president...''
and China, and Russia, etc...

but we never depended on the EU, we were strong partners, at the top table, with massive concessions no-one else had, large rebate, no Schengen, no Euro ... We are leaving all that behind to become vassals of tyrants and dictators. If they say jump- or give us the NHS, drop your standards re safety and workers rights, etc - we will have no choice but to do as were are told- in exchange for survival.

varian Thu 28-Nov-19 16:54:58

Nicole0134 points out-

"We are but a tiny island - if the XXXX hits the fan, we'll need them....."

Good point. That is exactly why we should Remain in the European Union, the world's biggest and most successful trading block, where we can negotiate with other countries from a position of strength, not from a position of weakness and desperation.

Sussexborn Thu 28-Nov-19 16:48:07

Totally agree with Monica. The arrogance and bullying is beyond a joke! The minute anyone tries to state a different point of view they are pounced on in a really malicious way that must feel quite threatening.

I now try to avoid all the political threads but the titles don’t always make it clear what the content is about. I was hoping things would calm down after the election but I am beginning to feel that GN will never be the same again.

All the bully boy tactics from momentum is one of the reasons people despise labour now. Momentum practices are being copied by some on GN and doing their party a great disservice with the hectoring tones and constant repetition. Perhaps they are hoping to bore people into submission but most likely to have totally the opposite effect.

Boris Johnson's Brexit deal will leave the UK £70bn worse off than if it had remained in the EU, a study by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) has found.

It concluded that GDP would be 3.5% lower in 10 years' time under the deal.

The independent forecaster's outlook is one of the first assessments of how the economy will fare under the new deal.

GrannyL grin ?

lemongrove Thu 28-Nov-19 16:10:33

Nicole0134 I agree completely!

Labaik Thu 28-Nov-19 16:09:33

Nicole0134; I think I'd rather depend on the EU than an America with Trump as president....confused….

Nonnie Thu 28-Nov-19 16:02:09

So our PM is not going to get the grilling the other leaders got. Will the voters see through that? Looking at what has been happening over the last few years it seems not.

So much easier for me than for many because I am not voting for any party. I am voting against one. I have changed from usually voting for a party to now voting against that party. I wish more were so open minded and not simply doing what they have always done.

GrannyLaine Thu 28-Nov-19 14:27:12

That should be grin not [grin} I have a cat on my wrist

GrannyLaine Thu 28-Nov-19 14:25:36

Fair point @EllaKeat. Might resort to a bit of fluffy myself [grin}
