John McDonnell - fee paying scholar to Marxist

What is it with Labour high command? The Sun newspaper recently outed JMcD as having gone to a fee paying public school at £38,000 p.a. Fair enough say some, you can’t blame him for the choices his parents made regarding his education.

But wait a minute! These last few years he had tried to hide it. Said (eventually) it was in preparation for the seminary (it wasn’t - the school scoffed at the idea).

Now he’s part of the cohort who wants to abolish private schools but will make do (until then) with removing their tax avoidance charity status.

In the mean time he waves his little red book about.

Seems to be “do as I say, don't do as I do” - for the few, not for the many it seems.

Another Labour hypocrite!

What do you think?

Not deflecting, just focusing on the more important issues facing the UK.

If you’re genuinely concerned about deceitful politicians being economical with the truth then I suggest you do the same.

Stop deflecting! This is about JMcD being economical with the truth. I genuinely thought he was working class and went to a state school.

It’s about the deceit, trying to create a working class image, men of the working class, to appeal to Labour voters.

SirChenjin Sat 30-Nov-19 16:52:52

And the more minor stuff - dead pig’s head, anyone?

SirChenjin Sat 30-Nov-19 16:52:01

No, they haven’t denied that particular claim, you’re right - they just deny the really major stuff.

SirChenjin Sat 30-Nov-19 16:49:21

Not really on par with Boris and his cronies lies though, is it?

I’ll save my righteous indignation for the really important things.

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 16:47:14

The Eton posh boys aren’t pretending they didn’t attend a public school though Scj

That’s the difference.

SirChenjin Sat 30-Nov-19 16:45:48

Embarrassed by

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 16:45:36

and so what if he doesn’t want his picture in the year book it’s not the crime of the century

Actions do sometimes speak louder than words though crystaltipps

He’s pretending to be a working class ‘man of the people’.

He’s been outed! Serves him right for being sneaky about it all.

SirChenjin Sat 30-Nov-19 16:43:33

Unlike these charmers who were quite happy to have their photo in the yearbook (although I believe Dave is now slightly embarrassed of his Bulli days)

crystaltipps Sat 30-Nov-19 16:37:59

Just like Johnson had never used a mop in his life and pretends to have technology lessons from a pole dancer and ReesMogg thinks he is a man of the people and knows how much shoes cost etc etc we can all throw mud at almost any of them . I don’t expect he paid for his own school fees and so what if he doesn’t want his picture in the year book it’s not the crime of the century.

SirChenjin Sat 30-Nov-19 16:35:53

According to the Daily Mail (I feel grubby after reading the ‘news’ on that nasty little site) his dad was a bus driver and:

In this particular year, the school had 418 boys, of whom 233 boarded. Most fees were paid by parents — many working for the military or in business abroad. But it adds: 'All told, there are 75 boarders and 61 day boys assisted by local education authorities.'

Of these, eight boarders were funded by the Conservative-controlled Norfolk LEA, which served Great Yarmouth.

The inspection report explained: 'Catholic boys allocated to grammar schools can take up aided places at St Joseph's.'

Former St Joseph's history teacher Michael Thuell, 77, explains further: 'If there was no Catholic grammar school in your area and … if you were Catholic and passed the 11-plus, you were sent to St Joseph's on a Local Education Authority grant.'

That last para was a quote from my sister in law BTW - she’s from Liverpool.
?

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 16:18:09

Not at all Laiback this isn’t about envy.

He should stop pretending he’s on of the proletariat and just come clean and say how grateful he was to receive a good (albeit public) education!

John McDonnell eh? scouser from Liverpool (who's never lived anywhere near Liverpool but talks like he's never left) champion of the working classes, never had to work a day in his life hahahaha don't make me laugh, the mans a Rupert who's detested on merseyside never mind Liverpool!

Buffybee Sat 30-Nov-19 16:11:20

No probs Urm
My little joke didn't translate very well. ?

Callistemon Sat 30-Nov-19 16:06:24

confused

Labaik Sat 30-Nov-19 16:05:13

So, should people be automatically be excluded from certain political parties once they earn or have saved above a certain level?

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 15:57:51

Oh Buffybee sorry! That was ‘whoosh’ moment - I didn’t compute the emojis!
?

Callistemon Sat 30-Nov-19 15:53:12

It certainly didn't give him a very loving Christian attitude to life, did it Urmstongran
Talking of lynching, killing etc.

Perhaps it was his time there that turned him to misogyny.

EllanVannin Sat 30-Nov-19 15:51:36

Tony Blair used to be a protestant then changed to catholic for some reason. Probably because his wife already was.

Anniebach Sat 30-Nov-19 15:40:01

The Blair’s were/are R.C.

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 15:26:25

Because I think I’ve touched a nerve. They both had snippy (uncalled for comments) and know I support Boris.

Buffybee Sat 30-Nov-19 15:20:33

I guess you both vote Labour. ???
What on earth made you think that Urm ?

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 15:19:18

It's his lying that is being highlighted.

Instead of acknowledging that he was given financial help to attend a good school which has probably helped him in many ways, he is pretending that that it wasn't actually a school and that he was only there for a couple of years.

It's funny how everyone on the left keeps calling Boris a liar when they are accomplished liars themselves.

Pantglas2 Sat 30-Nov-19 15:18:19

No-one likes a hypocrite do they? Preaching one thing and then doing another - I remember the Blairs using the catholic argument for choosing a better education for their own children - nothing changes!

Urmstongran Sat 30-Nov-19 15:02:30

I guess you both vote Labour.
