Everywhere you look and everything you read.

Health service imploding
Poverty levels retreating to Dickensian levels
Mortality rates increasing
Life expectancy decreasing
Food banks
Social care crises
Public services like libraries, grass cutting, weeds on verges, potholes.
Housing crises
Cuts in education, schools struggling
Academies failing
Students with huge debt
Corruption in our political class
Public broadcaster under severe criticism for bias
Media concentration threatens the public interest and our democracy
Police struggling because of cuts. Leave cancelled and overtime compelled to fill gaps.
Military funding at an all time low.
Prison service under severe pressure because of cuts
Welfare cut to the bone squeezing the poor to 1930’s style welfare support.
Transport almost at developing country levels
Hate crimes at a record high
Racism increasing

We are one of the richest countries in the world.

Did you see the dispatches programme the othernight? We are heading towards Victorian levels of poverty. Just because we aren't there (quite) yet, doesn't mean the levels we have are ok! That we shoudl be complacent about it.. I am ashamed when world charities are having to help people in this, a supposedly wealthy county. Deeply ashamed!

I am not disputing we are a rich country. However, if we are rich why do we need to keep borrowing? To me that says we are living above our means. Spending more than what we have.

Firecracker123 Wed 04-Dec-19 17:12:02

Anyone can make a biased programme to suit any agenda.

knickas63 Wed 04-Dec-19 17:13:28

Started to read all of the posts on here - but have had to dip out. Beyone angry and horrified and the sheer amount of self satisfied, ignorant vitriol spouted by people on here.
While I'm on the subject:
We are voting for policies and manifestos - not leaders. Leaders fereqeusntly change
Please God do not rely on the media to get your information - it have been proved to be twisted and unrealiable with relentless unfounded smear campaigns. Research, look further then the end of your own nose.
What is important to you? The NHS, Education, Homelessness/Poverty/Crime/immigration. Or do you just want to stay in your little bubbles and not change anything because it is too scary.
I despair!

It's only really if it gets cut and dried and mixed up with hay that it's a problem for horses and cattle.

As someone who makes hay from my field for my horses, the people who own the adjoining fields and don't control their prolific ragwort, which has wind dispersed seeds, are something of a problem for me. It kills horses if eaten.

We are a rich first world country but heading towards third world disparity between rich and poor.

Unless we can stop brexit, the rich, especially the billionaire tax exiles who support the Tory Party, will get richer and everyone else will get poorer.

The middle classes who voted Tory may not notice it immediately, but the poor, including those who were fooled into voting leave in 2016, will notice it pretty quickly.

I just wonder how long it might take for them to finally realise they were fooled?

It’s looking like Brexit’s gonna happen. Time to get used to it people.

There is a real danger, made clear today by Trump's rushed departure from Nato summit - that we will end up alienating and breaking from all our closest allies and partners - and at the same time - being in a very very weak position with the USA - with a begging bowl. Does not look good - at all. Alarm bells ringing very loudly- louder than ever.

To Dinahmo, Not sure what you are even complaining about in regard of your "Chelsea Tractors" Maybe I do not speak the lingo of Brixton where apparently you used to live. I went to a super open day on an invite from The Prison Reform Trust which I donate to it was held when Juliet Lyon was in charge of that charity what an amazing woman, the open day was held in Brixton Prison.
I for one did not complain about immigrants in U.K. quite the reverse my point was the country is overcrowded and if you can not see that then get back to a N.H.S. doctor and get yourself looked over.
As for the U.K being a mongrel nation the only term for mongrel is for the pets we owned back in the sixties which were our dogs or have you changed the thread of the conversations to animal breeds? I was brought up in a working class family my late father worked from the time he was 15 years old they do not make them like that anymore.
We could not afford pedigree dogs so my father always brought us "mongrels" so I do not consider myself a mongrel but as you made the remark are you a bit of a mongrel?

"It’s looking like Brexit’s gonna happen. Time to get used to it people."

This comes from a poster who told us brexit would happen in March. and in April and in October.

She was wrong three times so lets all hope she is wrong again.

Wherever you vote on 12th December, please, please vote to STOP BREXIT.

Chestnut Wed 04-Dec-19 18:36:11

For the believers......

Chestnut Wed 04-Dec-19 18:40:43

Unfortunately someone pressed Varian's Brexit button. Now let's get back to the discussion.

Chewbacca Wed 04-Dec-19 18:44:49

Chestnut grin

Labaik Wed 04-Dec-19 18:52:07

It really annoys me using the Union Jack to propagate such b**ls**t.....nothing patriotic about Brexit....

varian Wed 04-Dec-19 19:17:17

The union jack stands for the Union of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We are the British people.

We are also proud to be members of the European Union.

Those promoting brexit are unpatriotic , even if they are doing the will of the right-wing tabloids.

Labaik Wed 04-Dec-19 19:18:33

..and Brexit will probably break up the union...sad...

varian Wed 04-Dec-19 19:21:32

Unless we can stop it.

Firecracker123 Wed 04-Dec-19 19:29:34

To coin a Lib Dem slogan I say

Bollocks to the EU

Keeleklogger Wed 04-Dec-19 19:38:13

It’s strange that Scotland wants to leave the UK but doesn’t want to leave the European Union irrespective of Brexit

varian Wed 04-Dec-19 19:40:14

Boris Johnson says we are better together I NATO, so why not in the EU?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/election-2019-50653296

Chestnut Wed 04-Dec-19 19:41:42

That was such a dreadful thing to do, the Lib Dems wearing those disrespectful t-shirts in the European Parliament. Such infantile behaviour, I was ashamed that they were British.

Labaik Wed 04-Dec-19 19:43:23

Scotland voted to remain in the UK because it didn't want to leave the EU. They then voted to remain in the EU [along with Gibraltar and Ireland but their vote was ignored. So, the only way to remain in the EU is to leave the Union. Seems pretty straight forward to me...

Labaik Wed 04-Dec-19 19:44:19

Not as disrespectful as the Brexit MEP's behaviour...[imo]..

SalsaQueen Wed 04-Dec-19 21:05:20

Opal I couldn't agree more, and your description of your life so far is the same as mine - working-class, work at 16, never received any benefits, etc.

Whitewavemark2 What a miserable, depressing, bitter person you sound. Give it a rest.

Dinahmo Wed 04-Dec-19 21:21:44

What's wrong with Chelsea Tractors and the like? They are too large for the roads and aren't necessary in cities.

I am sure I am a mixture but I'm too mean to pay to find out. My OH did however and found out that he was 32% Anglos Saxon, 36% Scandinavian and the remainder Celt, southern European and a tiny percentage of middle Eastern.

I regret to say that I find the rest of your post rather muddled.
