Not how or why. I was just wondering what sort of percentage have sent in their now unchangeable votes. It's not mandatory to answer, I was just curious.

I have.

Yes already voted. We were on holiday one time so applied for a postal vote. We haven't changed it back. Last time we took our vote to the voting place ourselves. This Thursday we will not be here so hence postal vote again. A bit sad really as I would have liked the satisfaction of putting it in the box myself! ha ha.

Yes same here Calendargirl my husband didn't receive his papers though.

grannyactivist Sun 08-Dec-19 01:05:58

We always have a postal vote just in case I'm ill at the time of an election and my husband is working away.

We have an Independent candidate standing who is completely trustworthy and as a local councillor has worked in the constituency tirelessly for many years. She's passionate about all the issues I care about and will be an excellent constituency MP, unlike her predecessor who has always been conspicuous by his absence. If she wins the seat, and I can't tell you how much I hope she does, then she will be making history. TV crews and the national newspapers are interviewing her and reporting on her progress - and interestingly not one of them has anything negative to report. I am hopeful that my vote will be meaningful for the first time in 20 years.

Yes - posted back immediately after receipt.

Grannybags Sat 07-Dec-19 23:25:25

Yes. Posted a couple of days ago.

M0nica Sat 07-Dec-19 21:35:48

I'm like you Witzend. This time is my first postal vote and it is for one election only.

Unfortunately Boris did not consult me before calling the election. If he had I would have told him that the week 8-15 December was a completely no-no as it clashed with arrangements we had made more than three months ago to go with friends a Christmas Market in Germany Tickets and hotel are booked.

Witzend Sat 07-Dec-19 20:55:42

No, the polling station is a ten minute walk away and I like doing it in person.

Violettham Sat 07-Dec-19 20:55:18

Yes posted back shortly after receiving the postal vote

ayse Sat 07-Dec-19 20:53:45

I voted by post at least a week ago and feel certain that I have voted with my conscience. No desire to change and I just want all this rubbish to be over, at least until after Christmas

Calendargirl Sat 07-Dec-19 20:47:50

Yes, by post about a week ago.

FlyingSolo Sat 07-Dec-19 20:11:47

I posted mine yesterday.

QuaintIrene Sat 07-Dec-19 19:24:21

Yes I have. Voted independent, after checking that said candidate wasn’t BNP in a former life.
Labour will get in here, though as always.

Cherrytree59 Sat 07-Dec-19 19:17:14

Postal votes all xed and posted the same day we had received them via Royal Mail.

No tactical voting required.

cornergran Sat 07-Dec-19 19:14:25

Yes. Last week.

jura2 Sat 07-Dec-19 19:06:11

yes, by post 2 weeks ago. Tactically.

varian Sat 07-Dec-19 18:34:55

Apparently he was not, janeainsworth.

Although this is a constituency which was fortunate enough to have a LibDem MP from 1997-2015, and the LibDem candidate is the only serious challenger to the Tory, it seems that most of the hecklers were from the Labour Party and the Green Party and the Labour candidate, sitting on the platform joined in. Our local council is LibDem controlled with no Green or Labour councillors so I think they are feeling marginalised.

I was not there, but I gather from the LibDems who were that our candidate tried to calm things but the chairman was not effective in running the meeting and it got out of control.

The Tory candidate is therefore taking his lead from the practically invisible Jacob Rees Mogg and the (scared to face Andrew Neil) Boris Johnson and keeping his head down.

As you may have already guessed, my postal vote was for the Liberal Democrat candidate.

janeainsworth Sat 07-Dec-19 18:18:35

That’s disgraceful Varian, that the hustings were cancelled I mean.
Surely a chairman should be capable of dealing with hecklers!

varian Sat 07-Dec-19 18:01:53

I have voted by post. This time I did not attend a local hustings. After the first one at the other end of our constituency the Tory candidate (a useless ERG member who never did or said anything when he was our MP) then refused to attend subsequent hustings because hecklers had given him a hard time and so the hustings were cancelled.

Newquay Sat 07-Dec-19 17:17:13

Yes we’ve voted already too. Churches Together in the town held a Hustings with 4candidates. One was clearly head and shoulders above the others so we’ve voted for her as we need a new good constituency MP despite the party she belongs to. Can never not vote-it cost a lot to get us the vote didn’t it?

dragonfly46 Sat 07-Dec-19 17:08:47

Yes we have voted

Pantglas2 Sat 07-Dec-19 17:08:25

Me too Ilovecheese! My problem is I don’t have a Green Party candidate!

Ilovecheese Sat 07-Dec-19 17:05:25

No, because we live closer to the polling station than the postbox

GracesGranMK3 Sat 07-Dec-19 17:03:26

Who is reporting that Urmstongran? Just out of interest.

Back to the thread. I wonder what percentage of us have already voted?

Urmstongran Sat 07-Dec-19 16:52:33

Not yet.
We fly home from Spain on 12th in the afternoon ... how fortuitous is that? When we booked the flights a GE wasn’t on the cards!

Westminster voting intention shows the Tories up to 43%, with Labour holding steady on 34%

The Lib Dems stay on 13%, the Brexit Party slump to 3% and the Greens trailing on 2%

I shan’t need to give this much thought !

Charleygirl5 Sat 07-Dec-19 16:33:25

I have, I only have to post it and that will be tomorrow.
