Do they care about anyone other than their rich friends?
Let's hear it in their own words:

I can absolutely understand her delight but I think she could have been slightly more gracious about it, yes.

NS certainly let herself down by the way she celebrated Jo Swinson's defeat. Many who saw that were quite disgusted.

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 18:20:42

Nope jura we didn’t get the result we want. It’s brilliant here at the moment - we (as in the majority of Scots) didn’t vote for the SNP or the Tories but we got both, and we didn’t vote for Brexit but we got it.

Now Nicola is ragin’ as per, and the starting gun for another push for Indy2 has been fired. Hurrah! sad

jura2 Sat 21-Dec-19 17:52:29

Sometimes it is better not to reply to truly daft comments- so I won't.

Vote for it - own it. As for Scotland, did you get your way in this election?

Jane10 Sat 21-Dec-19 17:48:35

Obviously, as stated, and to the enormous satisfaction of those who didn't get their own way in the election, we're all doomed.
Happy now everyone? Or just continue to snipe away and make yourselves feel better!

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 17:12:02

I’m afraid I’ve rather lost the thread of your posts M0nica smile

M0nica Sat 21-Dec-19 17:08:50

Looking back. I actually wrote I note that you only refer to 'the more right wing Tories'.

Very short memory.

M0nica Sat 21-Dec-19 17:07:27

*SirChenjin. I was quoting your words. Had you forgotten so soon?

jura2 Sat 21-Dec-19 16:53:43

'' It's just business and that goes on 365 days a year.''

some businesses are not 'just businesses' and if you want independence and to 'take back control' you don't seel them to those who could be friend or foe. Like all those sold to so many EU countries, and US and other countries - who can then hold us to ransom if we don't toe the line.

Like our major essential utilities, be they water, gas, electrictiy including nuclear (FFS ... sad ), airports and MWays, etc, etc.

How can this amount to 'taking back control' - essential defence companies at the top of the list.

Time will tell ...... indeed. Not taken long for true colours to come through and promises to turn out into the big fat nasty lies they always were.

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 16:37:29

You know that there are other parties out there? I don’t know where you voted but I certainly had more than 2 options on my ballot paper.

HurdyGurdy Sat 21-Dec-19 16:35:01

I blame the arrogance of the Labour Party for inflicting five years of Boris Johnson on the country. I fear it is in fact Labour who care little for the sick, the poor and the needy. Why else would they insist on keeping Jeremy Corbyn as leader - or indeed why did he not put the Party ahead of his own ego and step down - when, as has been pointed out above, those out canvassing for the Party were consistently told the voters couldn't vote for Labour when it would result in Corbyn as Prime Minister, thereby pushing votes to the Conservatives

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 15:52:08

I note that you only refer to 'the more right wing Tories'.

I thought we were talking about posters on Gransnet as opposed to the wider population?

And can I just correct the claim that the majority voted for the Tories? Overall, they didn’t.

LadyGracie Sat 21-Dec-19 15:48:01

Blah Di blah Di blah. It's happening the majority voted for it.

Johnson is a liar.
May was a liar.
Corbyn is a liar
Blair was the biggest liar.

They're all liars!

Globalisation makes unfettered capitalism dangerous.

Opal Sat 21-Dec-19 15:41:25

I know I'm gonna get shot down in flames for this, but I'm so tired of those on the politics threads who constantly knock capitalism, but enjoy its protections and benefits. Newsflash : the whole of the Western world is built on capitalism! It's how the wealth of the Western hemisphere was generated, and on which our society is built. It's how we all live our lives in the way we do. That's not to say we can't have a caring society, but to scoff at capitalism when it's the cornerstone of our Western wealth and society is, quite frankly, just hypocritical. Please provide me with details of a more wealthy, productive society which enjoys the security and freedoms that we do, but that is based on far left / communist policies. Sure, in a capitalist society, some are wealthier than others, and not everything in life is fair, but the opportunities are there for the vast majority of people to improve their lot in life, if they choose to do so. Idealistic left wing policies are great in theory, but never deliver in real life, simply because the world, and the human race in particular, isn't like that. And the British people know it, and that's why they voted the way they did last week.

Jane10 Sat 21-Dec-19 15:39:46

Doomed we're all doomed then!

But we're not. Things might change though and could actually be for the better. Time will tell.

M0nica Sat 21-Dec-19 15:39:11

I note that you only refer to 'the more right wing Tories'. I am referring to most of the Labour party, although there are some good losers there.

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 15:30:09

Snide superiority grin I don’t know where you’ve been recently M0nica but there hasn’t exactly been much in the way of graciousness in victory coming from the more right wing Tories on here.

There’s no point in complaining about Cobham, it’s just what happens in a capitalist society, and now that workers rights are not going to be protected as per the earlier promises by the Tories the markets will open up and these kind of takeovers by foreign investors will become more and more prevalent with the resulting fallout for British jobs. The writing is on the wall in great big capital letters.

M0nica Sat 21-Dec-19 15:22:49

I believe it is in the hands of the Dept of Trade to disallow it. The takeover needed government approval and there are clauses in the takeover put there by the government to protect British jobs, but once a company is taken over, these aren't worth the paper they are written on.

I am not Conservative and have never voted for them, but the way Labour supporters go on and on with their snide superiority you would think that you had the people and policies to govern and you haven't.

The fact is very few people, especially your core supporters believed your costings, or trusted your leader. As I said, you had your chance and you blew it.

nightswimmer Sat 21-Dec-19 15:11:17

Most of them in it to board the gravy train and with a safe seat a nice little earner!???

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 15:06:24

Exactly yggdrasil What happened with Cobham was simply capitalism - one of the core Tory values - in action. If that core value isn’t to your liking then you shouldn’t have voted for the Tories - and you should expect to see made more of the same as we move forward.

yggdrasil Sat 21-Dec-19 15:02:14

Monica: I am very concerned about the decision to sell Cobham to the Americans. It should not have been allowed.

But that is what Tory capitalism means, selling anything the shareholders will get more money for. It doesn't matter who owns it, as long as the moolah rolls in.
Who do you suggest should not have allowed it?

yggdrasil Sat 21-Dec-19 14:58:54

Chestnut: Grany - young people are not as stupid as you think they know Johnson is a liar not one to trust.
But they fall for Corbyn's fairy stories? How he can save the NHS and help all the needy in society? An admirable policy but he has no way of funding it.

The Labour party manifesto was fully costed. (Except for the WASPI women). It could all be found on line. Young people would look there first for info, not take the word of MSM and the BBC

M0nica Sat 21-Dec-19 14:52:40

I am very concerned about the decision to sell Cobham to the Americans. It should not have been allowed.

I am fed up with Labour supporters sanctemonious superiority. If you were that bothered abut being elected, why didn't you talk to the electorate and present them with a manifesto and leader they felt they could vote for. Many core Labour voters turned from you with deep regret. It was the election was yours to take. You chose to throw it away.
