I am still undecided about who to vote for. I am fearful for our wonderful country and concerned that the 'right' party is put in power to govern us. There is so much derogatory information about the two main parties that i am finding it so difficult to make this important decision. I wonder how many people may feel the same and will just end up not voting at all!!!

billya1003 Thu 12-Dec-19 12:51:00

I think if you are undecided you should vote for the candiate that will stop the Conservatives under Boris Johnson getting a majority. We should be voting for hope not hate and I am afraid to say it our current PM will stop at nothing to remain in power regardless of any consequences, he is a blatant liar that was to afraid to have interviews with Andrew Neil or GMTV as he knew we would crack under pressure.
So I hope he never has to deal with any high stakes deals where there might be pressure oh wait we still have to work out trade deals

Jura2 and there was me thinking all you were bothered about was the exchange rate and your pension when we leave the EU. ?

Touch of virtue signalling in your post as well I think. Holier than thou lol.

Firecracker123 Thu 12-Dec-19 12:54:48

I've just voted for Esther McVey Conservative no Brexit Party candidate here unfortunately otherwise I would have voted for them.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 12-Dec-19 12:55:42

If you're really undecided but don't wish to write something rude on your voting slip you could make protest by voting for one of the dafter parties.
We've got a 'militant Elvis' (Lord knows what his policies are!) but I decided to be sensible.

cupaffull Thu 12-Dec-19 12:59:40

Its just that I recall how we suffered under the last Labour government and the legacy thereafter, having to pick up the piece of their profligacy. So perhaps I'm still stinging!
Have you even seen Diane Abbott during this contest... she whose son had a private education but now wants rid of the public schools! They're all hypocrites when it suits them.
I'm voting for those that I perceive will do the least damage to our economy, so we can hope to make life better for all of us.

The 2008 crash was entirely predictable Northern Rock were giving 125% mortgages and Independent Financial Advisors were certifying mortgages for those that couldn’t afford them, just to get the commission. RBS were taking shares in developments without collateral.
The FSA were there to ensure stability but they sat on their fat backsides enjoying expense account lunches and watched it happen, the BoE were not blameless either.
The US was even worse but we did not have to follow suit, most other nations did not.

Sparklefizz Thu 12-Dec-19 13:08:44

Worryingly, Diane Abbott went out to vote this morning wearing 2 odd mis-matched shoes, and both for the left foot, without seeming to notice!!!! confused Photos online and in various newspapers.

Davidhs Thu 12-Dec-19 13:09:34

It doesn’t matter how I vote it’s a very safe Tory seat, however I would be very surprised and pleased if it’s a hung parliament

Firecracker123 Thu 12-Dec-19 13:14:05

Diane Abbott who would be in charge of our security, you couldn't make it up could you she can't even pick out a pair of shoes that match. God help us if Labour get in.

MiniMoon Thu 12-Dec-19 13:14:37

I went out to vote at 11am. There was a long queue. I've never known such a thing here! The lady sitting taking the numbers said they'd been extremely busy.
I wonder what the outcome will be.

lemongrove Thu 12-Dec-19 13:20:39

Eloethan.....I’m biased too, not many people aren’t!
However some of us are trying to answer the OP without instructing them to vote for the Party we choose, but giving them a reason to go and vote.

ayse Thu 12-Dec-19 13:24:17

Who cares what shoes people are wearing? Just good that people vote

Curlywhirly Thu 12-Dec-19 13:24:34

Jura2 and GagaJo, financially I am in a similar situation as you, and I fully agree with your sentiments. If I am taxed more, I can afford it, and am happy that some will fund the welfare state, however, from a selfish point of view, that extra tax will also help to fund the NHS, eduction, police, fire service etc - all of which will benefit me. Not all the extra tax will be spent on the welfare state! Also, the percentage of tax spent on benefit scroungers will be a drop in the ocean, compared to the billions in tax not paid by companies who use a loophole to avoid paying it.

ayse Thu 12-Dec-19 13:25:25

I’m so glad that someone has seen a long queue, at least it’s not fake news

ayse Thu 12-Dec-19 13:26:14

Just so Curlywhirly

jura2 Thu 12-Dec-19 13:28:29

Exactly, indeed.

Curlywhirly- may I share your post about procedure re postal votes, please, saying 'a friend from another site' or similar (or your choice of words) re postal votes procedure. Will not of course, if you'd rather not. Thanks.

Curlywhirly Thu 12-Dec-19 13:52:13

Jura2 that's fine, if you check the flow-chart supplied by the Electoral Commission, the procedure is there for all to see. As I said in a later post, the procdure for voting by post has slightly changed since I did it (I have been retired now a few years) but the flow-chart is uptodate.

jura2 Thu 12-Dec-19 13:59:24

Thanks.

kircubbin2000 Thu 12-Dec-19 14:01:31

I have voted for a candidate I dont like as the alternative was DUP!

varian Thu 12-Dec-19 14:04:50

We done, kircubbin The DUP do not and never have represented the majority of NI voters, who want to Remain in the EU.

Thanks to the DUP propping up the Tories, we are now threatened with a hard brexit and a border in the Irish Sea. So much for Unionism!

Greeneyedgirl Thu 12-Dec-19 16:24:55

I am not virtual signalling but I think it is a normal human trait to be altruistic towards those less fortunate than ourselves. I try to consider how policies may affect the less fortunate in society when I vote. We could not have survived as a species by being completely self serving.

I know that if we end up with an ultra right wing government poorer people will not be enabled to live better lives.

varian Thu 12-Dec-19 17:19:46

That is the danger we are in right now Green

Whitewavemark2 Thu 12-Dec-19 17:22:40

The young are the future

jura2 Thu 12-Dec-19 17:30:07

Love that- and I did exactly as I was asked- for once smile

Whitewavemark2 Thu 12-Dec-19 17:34:14

Johnson hasn’t voted in Uxbridge??

Even he doesn’t want himself to get in

How utterly bizarre
