Indeed, Boris has won against all the odds! The media did their best to break him. My old school motto 'Truth Shall Prevail'.

Urmstongran Fri 13-Dec-19 07:43:32

Boris had a terrible start to his Premiership from the Remainers, especially the rebels from his own party.

He showed leadership when he fired them all. He stood firm, faced down the Remainers and the people of this country came through for him. The likes of Gauke & Grieve are no more.

Why vote for more austerity The sell off of our NHS
@tothe_sea_
I do not believe the results for a second. People being asked for ID at the polling station? Students being turned away from the ‘wrong’ polling station? Students being told they hadn’t registered properly? Something’s going on here and it ain’t democracy.

Sara65 I don't know.
Shocked at the results of this election. It was so important.

To hell in a handcart is the phrase that comes to mind.

QuaintIrene Fri 13-Dec-19 07:33:35

Dennis Skinner losing his seat was a shock.
He is ill and couldn’t attend the Results.
His heart must be broken, an old school Labour man.

Just listened to Boris Johnson's speech ' Absolutely brilliant'!!

Will now have my breakfast, ha ha ha

Grandma70s Fri 13-Dec-19 07:30:05

I am shocked and horrified. It’s far worse than I expected. Who are these people who vote in droves for a lying, cheating philanderer? What is their excuse? I honestly thought people had more decency and better morals.

Urmstongran Fri 13-Dec-19 07:27:45

WOOHOO‼️

Bye bye Anna Soubry
Chukka Ummuna
Dominic Grieve
Jo Swinson
David Gauke

I feel joyous! My goodness all those MP’s gone from the HoC next week. What a shake up!

Oldwoman70 Fri 13-Dec-19 07:27:17

I spoke to a lot of people last night, many of them were saying they voted the way they did because so many former MPs had won their seats with a promise to honour the referendum and then failed to do so. This was even being said by those who voted to remain. They felt those MPs had lied to them and held the UK back for the last 3 years.

What's your feeling about the Scottish will for independence F50. We're getting different reports down here, but on balance it seems that there is a small majority that don't want it.

Fiachna50 Fri 13-Dec-19 07:15:46

Im sorry Mr Corbyn cost Labour so much. Unfortunately, we now have more SNP MP s and can look forward to another five years of bleating about Indyref2 while Scotland goes down the toilet. I don't understand what the h**l is going on up here. My MP is utterly useless but got voted back in. I know a few other MPs that got voted back in and was genuinely shocked as all folk seemed to do was complain about them online. However, I did not vote SNP and Im saddened that so many voted them in again. I will probably stay away from politics for a wee while, as I can't stand all the gloating from the SNP. Their glee over Miss Swinson losing her seat was pretty sickening. I hasten to add I am not affiliated to ANY political party and never will be.

Just been looking at some of our local areas, Rees Mogg returned with an increased majority, how can that happen?

Shelmiss Fri 13-Dec-19 07:07:45

I’m so relieved, and I’m actually surprised at just how relieved I am. In my area the Conservatives won by only 700 seats approximately, and took a seat which Labour had held for over 20 years.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 13-Dec-19 07:06:59

I think it just goes to show that the British public have not got the appetite for what they perceive as a far left Corbyn/McDonnell/Momentum led Labour Party.

Maggiemaybe Fri 13-Dec-19 07:06:46

No, but I’m disappointed and deeply worried about what lies ahead for the poor and vulnerable in our country.

NannyJan53 Fri 13-Dec-19 07:06:33

Absolutely gutted! Cannot believe that people would vote for this terrible party.

Sara65 Fri 13-Dec-19 07:00:25

I listened to the exit polls, another time I’d have been ecstatic, but I find the idea of Johnson in charge very worrying. I’m glad this will be the end of Corbyn, but I think Johnson is merely the lesser of two evils.

MawB Fri 13-Dec-19 06:56:51

Disappointed at the poor turnout in many places- I thought we would have realised the importance of this election, but seemingly not.

What the next few months will bring? Who knows!

ladymuck Fri 13-Dec-19 06:54:58

Not really surprised as Boris Johnson was the best of a bad lot. I'm personally very pleased.

annep1 Fri 13-Dec-19 06:53:55

Yes. And very sad and angry.
But good results here in NI where voters seem to have thought more. Alliance have a seat again and Nigel Dodds is gone!

Opal Fri 13-Dec-19 06:53:01

No, the British public have spoken, as they did in 2016. Great day for democracy, common sense has prevailed.

Tooting29 Fri 13-Dec-19 06:48:43

All the hyperbole, the grandstanding the rhetoric all over. We have a result and the British public have spoken. We have a conservative government.
Are we surprised?
