Corbyn isn’t going to stand down for some time because he
‘Needs to reflect’. !

MP’s want him to leave now .

Who for the new leader ?

Thanks Meryl I just wondered if she was ok as I’ve not seen her name since the election. I know she wouldn’t have liked the results but just wondered why she suddenly stopped posting.

My ideal combination would be Yvette Cooper and Jess Phillips, as for Rebecca Long Bailey she'd be Corbyn in a skirt (or dress;) we should have learnt our lesson, but I suspect 400,000 members will not have.

It is time for the LP to remember revolutions only produce blood, evolution produces progress ........................... not only that but the British public has made it clear once again, they will not accept what they see as overly radical programs or harder left candidates for prime minister. Thanks to the Corbyn's and Rebecca Long Bailey's of the party, we have finished up with a Tory clown as prime minister, thanks Corbyn, I have the tools to make a box any offers to join me.

I have been wondering the same thing Doodle

The poster I am sure you are referring to seemed to start about half a dozen threads every single day, all of them, incredibly extolling the ‘virtues ‘ of the Labour Party.

She never convinced me, and of course as we now thankfully know, not many others either.

I too have noticed her absence which coincided with the election result.

Thought it strange but perhaps she’s on holiday.

Seems Corbyn will stay in untill June. !

Rebecca Long Bailey has the support of the far left , Unite Union and probably Momentum .

From my own previous knowledge, small though it is, about the start of the Labour, and through listening to what people like Grandad can tell us I do not believe you can not have a party working for those who benefit from or could benefit from unions. This is how it started and that need and will still exists. Even at its birth there were arguments about whether the Unions should be the Labour party or back "professional" politicians. Perhaps it is the time to try the other solution and for Labour to become totally union based with union MPs.

As this argument has ranged since the inception of Labour it may be time for those who do not want ties with the Unions to leave and form a party backing the views most obviously seen when they took the party over in the Blair years. They could form their own strand of socialism, social democracy or however they would define themselves. They do not want the Unions, although they like their money so they should go and let the strand that follows the original reason for forming the LP continue. They have always been uneasy bedfellows; perhaps now is the time to try something else?

I'm writing as someone who decried the cult of personality around Johnson.

But not that that surrounding Corbyn? Remember his appearence at Glastonbury and the singing of hymns in his praise as if he was a religious leader or God (Oh Jeremy Corbyn)

Never heard anyone singing 'Oh, Boris Johnson'

What I remember is you calling people his "disciples" Monica. Your extremes are unforgivable as is your hubris in deciding what others think. You are well above your own capacity to argue the points you appear to want to make and so just turn to insults. Learning a little modesty regarding your own knowledge would mean we would all benefit. However, I do believe being open-minded is beyond you.

Chewbacca Tue 17-Dec-19 07:58:44

Oh the irony.

Nico97 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:04:01

You are well above your own capacity to argue the points you appear to want to make and so just turn to insults.

That did make me smile hmm
Well said Chew

Listen to what the Labour voters who voted Conservative said and learn from it. Not listening to people and respecting them, loses votes.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:08:15

Well said Chew

"you are well above your own capacity to argue the points you appear to want to make and so just turn to insults"

Yes - well said Chewbacca.
Transference anyone?

LullyDully Tue 17-Dec-19 08:12:27

I think the person you are referring jenniferwas endlessly shouting about the wonders of Labour and how it was a moral necessity to vote for them. When I said I would make my own mind up she was very rude to me. Not necessary I felt.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:13:24

Listen to what the Labour voters who voted Conservative said and learn from it. Not listening to people and respecting them, loses votes.

If the voters - who are no longer Labour voters - do not want what Labour offers what use is it in Labour changing to ape the party whose stance and reason for being is not what they actual members believe in. That really doesn't make sense, not unless you believe all parties should have no morals or ethics. But then they would be another Tory party.

Nico97 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:13:54

“The fools among us are presented to be wise and the wise among us are presented to be fools.”

There you go again - you just can't help yourself can you ?

GracesGranMK3 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:14:34

How cowardly not to name the person you are happy to insult.

Nico97 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:20:34

Not cowardly at all GGMK3 wink I haven't been the one insulting anyone, I'll leave that to you wink

GracesGranMK3 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:25:37

You are just as much a coward if you agree with cowardly remarks Nico, perhaps even more so as you do not come out from behind the big kid.

Why is it that those who have got what the wanted are still setting up attack threads and trying to tell others how to think about their (no my) party? How insecure you must all be feeling to even bother to do that.

Iam64 I appreciate that disappointment in other people is not their fault; it is our own for assuming they are something they are not but it is still very sad.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 17-Dec-19 08:26:16

no my not my

GagaJo Tue 17-Dec-19 08:30:43

A political party can take one of two stances.

They can hold true to their ethics and values. The public know what they stand for and make a choice about supporting them.

OR

The party can CHANGE to be what they think the public want.

The Tories are the Tories. They represent business and the wealthy. They don't switch and change, according to the wind.

I'll remain a Labour member if they stay true to the values they have always espoused, to support the working class and the vulnerable in society. IF they are so desperate to get elected that they abandon those principals, I will leave Labour and find another party that supports those principals. My principals are more important to me than any particular political party.

Anybody who is truly interested in the future for the Labour Party and genuinely wants a force on the left, might be interested in reading this:

www.paulmason.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/After-Corbynism-v1.2.pdf

Warning: It's a long read, so not for the faint hearted.

lemongrove Tue 17-Dec-19 08:34:50

Monica’s posts on here are spot on, and GGM’s posts, by contrast are........not! wink

growstuff Tue 17-Dec-19 08:37:46

GagaJo Who do you think the "working class" are? The traditional working class has just turned against Labour. Why was that?

How do you expect any political party to put any principles into practice, if it doesn't get elected?

lemongrove Tue 17-Dec-19 08:38:30

I have no doubt that a few left wing posters who are usually very active on the political pages are too stunned to quickly return to the fray.....understandable after what happened.
