Corbyn isn’t going to stand down for some time because he
‘Needs to reflect’. !

MP’s want him to leave now .

Who for the new leader ?

But there is a link with unemployment and army recruitment.

This is what an army recruitment officer in "Army Times" said:

“It’s a difficult market because it’s a very healthy job market,” said Acting Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy during a roundtable with reporters Tuesday. “This environment is as challenging as we’ve faced — 3.6 percent unemployment. We have no benchmark historically for the all-volunteer force.”
...

A booming job market and historically low unemployment remain key issues for recruiting efforts."

Corbyn didn't actually say that all army personnel sent to the Falklands had been unemployed.

However, a high percentage of soldiers do come from areas such as Yorkshire, the North East and parts of Scotland, where unemployment is high.

I've been reading arguments that Corbyn's perceived anti-patriotism was a contributory factor to former Labour voters voting Conservative in areas with high numbers of former service personnel.

In any case, why is anyone dragging up smears about somebody who's about to resign?

M0nica I'm sure you must realise that these days many people get their news from the online versions of the tabloids and broadsheets. Hence the "old fashioned obsession" with media barons

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 21:31:10

Not before Christmas then.

trisher Tue 17-Dec-19 21:29:22

It's not pleasant reading Callistemon and the double standards of some countries is awful. Best kept for when you are feeling strong.

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 21:21:47

OK, might be something to follow up post-Christmas.

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-19 21:20:02

trisher. Corbyn didn’t say some were too young to go to war,
He called all those who went to the Falklands - the unemployed, this was a lie. You can as usual find excuses for him, but he did lie, fact.

trisher Tue 17-Dec-19 21:15:47

Callistemon There's lots of academic research on this if you are interested. It is now being considered as well that children from very violent homes display the same characteristics and damage as child soldiers.

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 21:01:36

I agree it is too young to be sent to fight whatever the cause.

Urmstongran Tue 17-Dec-19 21:00:34

John McDonnell, in his apology for Labour’s performance, said that he was sorry for “not being able to articulate the party’s campaign message ahead of the poll”.

On the contrary, I think that he and Jeremy Corbyn articulated the message extremely well.

That was the problem!

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 21:00:06

It is documented trisher.

Fake news?

trisher Tue 17-Dec-19 20:58:36

Callistemon the section of Hamas which Corbyn had contact with was the political arm. If you fail to understand that Hamas is a political organisation which represents thousands of people then you have little hope of understanding the problem.
There is a difference between allowing 16 year olds to vote- intellectually they have well functioning brains and good abilities and exposing them to the training which teaches them to kill and injure others. It's to do withthe area of the brain which only develops fully as an adult. There is a lot of information on line about this. We are the only European country to still recruit under 18s.

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 20:58:17

No I would never use that term to describe someone who didn't understand the meaning of a word.

Or anyone for any reason, in fact.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 17-Dec-19 20:48:55

I certainly don't want sympathy. Would you rather I called her an ignorant bitch? Dyslexia does not stop me or anyone else understanding the meaning of the word.

inkcog Tue 17-Dec-19 20:48:25

trust me, only Annie in the playground is allowed to feel upset. The rest of us mere mortals must abide by the rules.

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 20:46:28

Crikey GG Even when someone supports you, you attack!!

It is something you have posted on threads asking for some sympathy about this!

Bridgeit Tue 17-Dec-19 20:46:06

Annibach , I cannot remember a time when there were such dire choices. No one seems to stand out as a potential leader.?

Callistemon Tue 17-Dec-19 20:43:47

stood up for young men who had little choice of career and were recruited as children

Have you missed the irony there trisher?
Corbyn supported Hamas which recruited young children as suicide bombers.

And did you not support 16 years olds having the vote? Are they children or not?

Bridgeit Tue 17-Dec-19 20:41:28

I am not under any illusion that I or anyone else is important to you.
So maybe the clue is to perhaps lighten up a bit, everything doesn’t need to be a battle, best wishes

Anniebach Tue 17-Dec-19 20:41:16

Yes dire Bridgeit , and there are back benchers who would be excellent leaders

What rubbish Bridgeit. Why would you have touched a nerve? You think you are somebody who matters to me? I don't think so. If Annie hadn't told someone not to do what she had just done nothing would have been said.

Why not have a go at Annie. She might be impressed by your pathetic attack.

Bridgeit Tue 17-Dec-19 20:36:54

Sad to say Anniebach, the potential candidates for Leader of the LP are quite dire.
Interesting times ahead methinks .

Well Corbyn knows the country didn’t want him as PM .

He will still be in the shadows plotting to have his dream of 50 years
