Wow!

All the pomp and pageantry. Very impressive.

The Fixed Term Parliament Act will be axed.
Corbyn looked as though he’d sucked a lemon.

I read sometime ago it was suspected he had a genetic disorder which resulted in a high mortality rate of unborn babies usually as a result of deformity.

FarNorth Thu 19-Dec-19 19:39:56

Probably something wrong with his six wives!

Oh, very likely the women's fault. hmm
You don't think Henry maybe had a little problem?

Jabberwok Thu 19-Dec-19 19:16:44

Yes Chestnut, a Prince of Wuttemburg is in there somewhere along with George 11!!! Another look at Who do you think are would be interesting!
I think he goes to Exmoor for Xmas Annie, but maybe not this year as Carrie might be a stumbling block!!
Henry V111 only had three legitimate living children, none of whom had issue. He did have at least two illegitimate children but only acknowledged one who also died without issue , so any relationship to him could be almost impossible to trace!

Boris has a very interesting genealogy. Check it out on Wikipedia under 'ancestors and siblings'. He is related to the Queen (5th cousin twice removed) and possibly descended from George II. I would like to see that episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are?' again.

There are lots of people with blue blood in the UK. Throughout the ages the fecundity of royals has made sure of it. But I guess most offsprings were kept under wraps.

Henry VIII, of course, only produced a handful of children despite being married six times. Probably something wrong with his six wives!

Anniebach Thu 19-Dec-19 16:07:27

Doubt he will be invited to join the family at Sandringham

Jabberwok Thu 19-Dec-19 16:05:13

Apparently Boris is distantly related to the Queen through his paternal grandmother who was related to a German Prince

calendargirl ''I think WW3 posts under a new name.'' - evidence, please?

jennifereccles- some people on GN have changed names again, and again and some more btw- despite GN rules saying that it is not allowed (I was granjura in the past, and not juragran- so didn't 'fool' anyone- I do think that there is a question of trust involved.

JenniferEccles Thu 19-Dec-19 15:37:55

WHY do people change their names? I don’t understand, especially as they would come back with exactly the same views.

Grandma70s Thu 19-Dec-19 15:36:00

The only connection I can see between the Queen and Boris Johnson is that he went to Eton and do did her grandsons, William and Harry. Otherwise, miles apart.

I can’t stand either Johnson or Corbyn, so what do I do? I quite enjoy the pageantry, though. It’s good theatre.

JenniferEccles Thu 19-Dec-19 15:35:46

But graciousness and dignity are two attributes Corbyn doesn’t possess.

Calendargirl Thu 19-Dec-19 15:35:04

I think WW3 posts under a new name.

Tooting29 Thu 19-Dec-19 15:33:19

Corbyn is history and should have gone last Friday with graciousness and dignity He must be a machosist to continue. BTW there are notable absences from posting these days. Wheres WW3?

Anniebach Thu 19-Dec-19 15:21:05

Boris and The Queen mix in the same social circles ? Never , ever.

dragonfly46 Thu 19-Dec-19 14:55:17

I rather felt theQueen gave her speech through gritted teeth!

jura2 Thu 19-Dec-19 14:50:42

jolbook ''The Queen will like Boris. They are from the same class and will mix in same social circles.''

well, I think not. Same class in some ways, but he has no class and is a disgrace to his 'class' and HRH too.

Grany Thu 19-Dec-19 14:45:41

He massively increased PFIs into the NHS leading to much more privatisation after Thatcher started the privatisation NHS and Major introduced PFIs

Then he took us to war with Iraq on dodgy dossier even though there was no WMD

I've got no time for him.

And all in with Murdock.

jo1book Thu 19-Dec-19 14:34:57

I think Tony Blair is great and did wonders for the LP.

Isn't it about time this toxic saboteur was thrown out of the party he spends every waking minute trying to damage? Almost 22k people have already said so.

Tony Blair is advising the Saudi government under a £9 million deal between the country and his 'institute''

jo1book Thu 19-Dec-19 14:17:58

The Queen will like Boris. They are from the same class and will mix in same social circles.

jo1book Thu 19-Dec-19 14:14:59

I don't know how Corbyn has the gall to even be in Parliament.
At least Kinnock, Milliband had the grace to go immediately.

Anniebach Thu 19-Dec-19 14:13:04

Corbyn wants to break up the UK, he was marching for a United Ireland in the 80’s

jo1book Thu 19-Dec-19 14:11:59

Also struck by the churlishness of Corbyn. What a graceless little man.
I thought Blair's comments were spot on. I know Labourites don't like him but he won them elections!

JenniferEccles Thu 19-Dec-19 14:10:00

You can’t honestly think the Queen would have preferred the ghastly Corbyn instead? That’s impossible to believe.

Corbyn LOATHES the royals and won’t even sing the national anthem.

No I’m sure she is delighted to see Boris returned. Corbyn wouldn’t even have the good manners to be respectful.

Anniebach Thu 19-Dec-19 14:06:19

Blair is a member of the Labour Party, and was the only Labour leader to win three consecutive elections. Corbyn has managed to lose two elections in one year.
