Was taken from Sandringham to Edward 7th hospital ,London for observation in relation to a pre existing condition.

But Goldenage wasn't being nasty TO other GNers, she was being nasty ABOUT public figures not on here. There is a significant difference IMHO.

Anniebach Mon 23-Dec-19 10:25:27

Being nasty about a man coming to the end of his life and using tabloid smears to do so is acceptable?

MerylStreep Mon 23-Dec-19 10:29:23

Inkcog
i quit Again?

Callistemon Mon 23-Dec-19 10:34:41

sodapop I don't understand people who complain about threads becoming unpleasant and then continue to post on them. If a thread is not to your liking just leave it and move on to another one.

I might be inclined to agree with you; however, I think stating a view about a thread being unpleasant and then finding that it becomes even worse or that someone has deliberately misinterpreted your post could warrant a further post to clarify.

annep1 Mon 23-Dec-19 11:07:29

Yes MawB that is nasty. And totally irrelevant.

But why are monarchists so determined not to see the others viewpoint. Anniebach you didnt answer my question a few pages back. Just saying....
And now I am off until at least the new year.

I hope you all have a good Christmas and that includes Prince Philip!

ReadyMeals Mon 23-Dec-19 11:26:23

Anniebach, yes I am afraid that it probably is acceptable within the scope of a News and Politics section. I just so happens that this person is a member of the royal family that many of us love, which perhaps makes it more sensitive than if we were for instance talking about a foreign politician or a celebrity, or someone like Rolf Harris who I suspect may have a thread about him when the time comes to hear that he's in hospital.

Anniebach Mon 23-Dec-19 11:30:21

annepl your question - would I accept from you money you had stolen had no connection with inheritance .

Do you mean the Queen should return Balmoral and Sandringham which she inherited ? Who should she return it to ?

Perhaps the Windsors should appear on Children in Need waving cheques but they never disclose if they do or don’t give
money to those in need.

Anniebach Mon 23-Dec-19 11:35:12

ReadyMeals Rolf Harris is serving a prison sentence, fact.

The poster didn’t post facts, she/he posted gossip, with the exception of Andrew and he isn’t in hospital is he ?

inkcog Mon 23-Dec-19 11:57:41

Meryl/Peryl, I don't quit the site. I give up on this thread. It is beyond daft .

Callistemon Mon 23-Dec-19 12:17:14

And so is calling someone MerylPeryl when their username is quite obviously something different.

ReadyMeals Mon 23-Dec-19 12:40:24

I am afraid this is going to controversial Anniebach, but so might Philip have been sentenced for that car crash if he hadn't been who he was. A normal man has just received 6 months for hurting someone in his car when he should have known better than to be driving. In Philip's case I think it's been acknowledged since that his vision was no longer good enough to drive on public roads, and in the other man's case he was a bit tired when he got into the car. 6 months versus "not in the public interest". Anyway they were both accidents, not condemning either of them. Just saying that criticism of public figures and repeating things we read in the tabloids and even choosing to believe them is in the scope of this section.

Anniebach Mon 23-Dec-19 12:57:49

ReadyMeals sorry but you still don’t get my point.

Phillip was in a car accident and I believe it was in the public interest and it was fact. Claiming he had a mistress for decades
was not fact

MerylStreep Mon 23-Dec-19 13:05:30

Callistomon
Just laugh, I do ????

Inkgoc is daft the best adjective you can come up with to describe this thread?

ReadyMeals Mon 23-Dec-19 13:15:25

However, it is speculation that has been published and is in the public domain to discuss, therefore. I am sure Philip isn't reading our comments so he can't be hurt by them. And if he did read them he'd probably write us all off as a load of bleating old biddies :D

I bet the same way I allow myself to eat and cook with cheese.
I feel sorry for dairy cows but am too selfish to stop stealing cow milk products.

Anniebach Mon 23-Dec-19 14:11:34

ReadyMeals your choice to support speculation, my choice
not to.

wildswan16 Mon 23-Dec-19 14:16:18

I haven't read all this thread.

I just cannot believe that the news of a 98 year old gentleman being in hospital, a man who has served this country virtually all his life and supported a lady who most of us greatly respect, can end up as the rights and wrongs of private health care etc etc.

I just want to wish him a speedy recovery and my prayers are with him and his family.

Anniebach Mon 23-Dec-19 17:35:27

A reporter asked Charles about his father

Charles - ‘he is being well looked after, that’s all we know ‘

Good for Charles

craftyone Tue 24-Dec-19 06:48:39

He still has his forceful mind so being away from family is probably his wish. I would not be surprised if he is having hospice type care. I should think the queen needs a hug.

Alexa Tue 24-Dec-19 07:49:56

I always liked Prince Phillip. I liked his sense of humour. He was funny without being unkind. I'd have liked to talk to him about horse drawn carriages.

grabba Tue 24-Dec-19 08:51:04

I have no idea why people are interested at all in the Monarchy.
Privilege gone made, they have no power and no relevance to life now for the vast majority of people.
Wealth beyond measure while their subjects are relying on foodbanks, not that they are alone in that state

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 09:01:01

Phillip has been discharged from hospital

MawB Tue 24-Dec-19 09:23:57

And given that Grabba, why on earth they bother to post on threads such as this tchconfused

lavenderzen Tue 24-Dec-19 09:36:26

Good to hear PP has been discharged and is on his way to Sandringham.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Dec-19 09:36:31

I don’t understand your comment he was funny but not unkind alexa I think he has been extremely unkind in some of his comments in the past or ‘his gaffes’ as they used to term them unkind and quite racist in many of his terms Remember what he called the Chinese not very endearing To me he comes across as a hard cold arrogant and an insensitive sort of man never saw him cuddle his kids when they were young and wasn’t he the one who wanted to ‘toughen’ Charles up
