I think Archie looks very like his American grandfather.

Callistemon Thu 26-Dec-19 11:38:15

He was probably right near the camera and focussing on the lens which made him squint a little.

ReadyMeals Thu 26-Dec-19 11:33:52

I don't think it is an actual squint. He has very widely spaced eyes with a marked epicanthic fold. I think it's just that the white of his eye on the inner side is covered by that fold. As his skull grows that will appear to cover less of his eyes.

Nandalot Thu 26-Dec-19 11:17:23

Archie could well grow out of his squint. DGS was cross eyed at the age. The specialist said it was probably because of his nose and that his face would grow to fit his nose. (His nose wasn’t noticeably big!) It seems to have done and he is no longer cross eyed. smile

Anyway it doesn't matter if it was shopped or not. Photoshopping is a completely legitimate way of making a photographic composition look more attractive. It's different matter if a photograph is used to demonstrate something legally or educationally and it has been edited to imply some false facts.

GrumpyGran
Well if the Daily Mail decrees that the picture was photoshopped then of course it must be

Actually it was Twitter that decreed it and I believe the rest of the media reported it.

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 21:04:13

Yes, I was happy for him when he was discharged today.

Urmstongran Tue 24-Dec-19 20:51:40

I’m glad he’s home. That’s lovely for him and his family, a chance to all be together for a few days.

Grumpygran12 Tue 24-Dec-19 18:49:06

I know it is an officially sanctioned photo. I was interested in the way the paper ‘used’ it. ?
Christmas Greetings to all , whatever our differing loyalties and affiliations!

The photograph of George with his father, grandfather and
great grandmother was an official photograph for the British
Legion of which the queen has been patron of since she became queen.

Grumpygran12 Tue 24-Dec-19 18:14:43

Well if the Daily Mail decrees that the picture was photoshopped then of course it must be. Part of their continuing manipulative hate campaign against these 2. Their lead article( online version) shows ‘ adorable’ Prince George stirring puddings with his Grandfather, great-grandmother and father. So naturally we are invited and inclined to make comparisons. I wondered when the Mails judgement would be cited as evidence

craftyone Tue 24-Dec-19 18:02:54

me too, he certainly looks poorly. I wish M and H would spirit Archie back so that he could be there for what could well be Prince Phillips last family christmas. Even the queen must be feeling pretty lonely right now

Smileless2012 Tue 24-Dec-19 17:27:41

Just seen Prince Phillip on channel 4 news. He doesn't look at all well; I was quite shocked TBHsad.

MerylStreep Tue 24-Dec-19 15:04:04

Why was the xmas card photo shopped, and badly?

Sparklefizz Tue 24-Dec-19 14:00:17

Pax, BlueBelle ... sorry I annoyed you by just commenting on Archie's eyes.

That was all it was ... a mere comment ... not "telling them what they should do".

Peace and goodwill, etc. and have a happy Christmas.

maddyone Tue 24-Dec-19 13:04:18

BlueBelle, how can an entire family, both sides, be so unworthy that they have been cast aside. It is well documented that Meghan said, prior to her marriage, that she had a wonderful father. Of course, he was totally out of line to pose for those photographs before the wedding, but don’t you think he has paid a terrible price for that mistake? Maybe I am being judgmental, but I’m not nearly so judgmental as Meghan who has been unforgivingly judgmental of her own father.
My own mother has most certainly not been a perfect mother, but I love her dearly, I look after her, do a lot for her. She is 92 years old and she is my mother, I would never abandon her.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Dec-19 12:50:56

And is that not her business Anniebach
I don’t know anything about Philip other than what I have read or seen over the years he might be a cuddly darling for all I flipping know, but you pick up on how people react in public and what you see and hear in his one liners and you form judgements rightly or wrongly and my judgement is what I said and is as equally valid as your judgement you don’t know he’s a cuddly darling warm man and I don’t know he’s an arrogant cold fish we can only judge on the snapshots we see and hear
The comments about Archies eyes seem petty to me many babies look crosse eyed in pictures especially when they are close up as in that one and I m sure if he has any problems they will be addressed without comments on here telling them what they should do

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 12:42:28

I haven’t seen the photograph of Archie, Edward’s daughter
Loiuse had eye problems

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 12:40:39

Sorry BlueBell clicked to soon, Megan seems to have trouble
with both her parents families,

Sparklefizz Tue 24-Dec-19 12:38:20

I’m sure however, it will get sorted very quickly if that does indeed prove to be a squint.

The consensus online seems to be that he is cross-eyed. I know that Harry was slightly cross-eyed as a baby but Archie's eyes seem to be worse.

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 12:38:13

BlueBell how do you know Phillip wasn’t an affectionate father? You say he didn’t hug his children, there were only official photographs at that time, there were no paps, the press
didn’t hound them.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Dec-19 12:20:16

Yes anniebach I think it’s very fair to judge parenthood with past times my dad was in my life 60/70 years ago and was a kind and gentle man and although he didn’t change nappies, push prams or do the hands on stuff that many dads do now he used to always read me bedtime stories and was a great back rubber (haha)
maddyone having read so many stories on here about abusive families why are you so judgemental about Meghan and her relationship with her father you ve no idea why she doesn’t want to see him or that side of the family but you can bet your bottom dollar there are very good reasons

Calendargirl Tue 24-Dec-19 12:17:54

Just had a look at the Christmas card after reading the above comments. TBH, I didn’t think he had a squint, Harry used to look like that when he was small. I’m sure however, it will get sorted very quickly if that does indeed prove to be a squint.

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 11:56:47

I agree Maddy
