Unless he is shamed into visiting it appears he plans to spend Christmas at No. 10 with girlfriend while victims are spending Christmas in temporary accommodation.

Are we surprised?

trisher Tue 24-Dec-19 13:19:57

Knowing how he operates- pass the buck (sometimes called delegation) I can't think he will be missed at all. Of course he could have stayed here and spent Christmas doing something good and useful but I suppose at least he's started the way he means to go on.

? ? ? ??

JenniferEccles Tue 24-Dec-19 12:16:04

It’s nice to see that the majority on here has no objection to Boris taking a break.

Sanity prevails - if only temporarily!

Calendargirl Tue 24-Dec-19 12:09:43

Oh, give over griping! It’s not the same as the Australian PM flying off in the middle of a crisis. I for one hope Boris enjoys a good holiday- he’s jolly well earned it!!!!

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 12:03:48

'create'??!! wretched keyboard!!

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 12:02:45

Sadly that does seem to be the case SueDomin!
I think Boris would be much missed, after all he saved the country from the appalling Corbyn and his cohorts , and create that alone he deserves a knighthood.??

SueDonim Tue 24-Dec-19 11:52:06

A friend who lives in the area in Yorkshire that was flooded a couple of weeks ago was complaining that Prince Charles had paid them a visit yesterday. She said it was a waste of time and pointless. I guess sometimes they can’t do right for doing wrong.

trisher Tue 24-Dec-19 11:37:55

Of course Boris needs a break after all he's been doing the job for such a long time and he's managed to do so much. What good would he do visiting the flood people? Come to think of it what good is he doing any of us? Could we possibly arrange for him to be stranded permanantly on that island? No one would miss him.

Summerlove Tue 24-Dec-19 11:28:48

Jane10 but surely trips and holidays should be put on hold when terrible things are happening in ones own country if you are PM?

Floods in UK? Off to the Carribean.

Devastating fires in Australia? Off to Hawaii.

Floods and Fires DONT stop, and those men and their families should be ashamed of themselves

quizqueen Tue 24-Dec-19 11:11:48

To all those criticizing Boris.......and how many flood victims have you taken into your homes this Christmas?

Sussexborn Tue 24-Dec-19 11:00:09

Very sensible. Why tie up the emergency services and potentially hold up the essential work they are doing?

Yehbutnobut Tue 24-Dec-19 10:52:01

Perhaps we should ask the pope to give him a saint hood....but first the Blessèd Boris.

Looks like he can do no wrong as far as his fan club goes.

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 10:45:01

Boris visited flood stricken areas recently, he also spent time in Estonia visiting the troops helping with Xmas dinner. Imo he certainly both deserves and needs a complete break before returning to a heavy work load in order to deal with complexities of brexit. As has been said, to some he can't do right for doing wrong, so there's no point discussing it!!

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 10:17:47

There was no criticism of Corbyn who went on holiday during
the referendum campaign

ladymuck Tue 24-Dec-19 10:13:26

If he did go and visit the flood victims, he would surely be accused of it being 'just a publicity stunt'. The truth is, he can do nothing right in the eyes of those who dislike him (just as with Trump).
His holiday was probably booked months ago, why shouldn't he enjoy himself ?

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 10:06:55

Perhaps he should ‘do a Corbyn’ give a hug, say loudly ,cameras around him’. I feel your pain ‘

Oldwoman70 Tue 24-Dec-19 10:03:22

I wonder what those caught up in the floods and those helping them would prefer:

A visit from the PM with lots of journalists and photographers in tow or

To be able to get on with the job and get people back into their homes as quickly as possible

I have always been suspicious of those dignitaries using disasters for a photo opportunity.

GagaJo Tue 24-Dec-19 09:45:47

Some of you will be singing his praises while he's taking your pension from your hands and closing your GP practise.

eazybee Tue 24-Dec-19 09:40:32

Nice to see that Goodwill to All Men is being practised here.

JenniferEccles Tue 24-Dec-19 09:40:27

Yes Jane10 is right.
It’s in all our interests to have a well rested PM ready to tackle the demands of the job in the new year.

He had an incredibly hectic run up to the election, crisscrossing the country which thankfully paid off.

Of course as we have seen here, that fact won’t stop the sneering comments of those who begrudge him a much needed break. The Caribbean is a great choice for a Christmas holiday,

Anyway he did visit the flooded areas a few weeks ago.

Riverwalk Tue 24-Dec-19 09:33:20

I'm grudgingly impressed that Bozo is being honest - not just the Caribbean but a private island at that!

I was never taken in by Cameron's slumming-it in Cornwall and Easy Jet to Ibiza.

Jane10 Tue 24-Dec-19 09:25:42

I suspect that everyone in Westminster could do with a holiday after the stress of the election. It's to all our benefit if MPs including, or especially, the PM return refreshed and ready to get on with the new year's workload.

Yehbutnobut Tue 24-Dec-19 09:06:51

In a sign that his promise to end austerity extends to the prime ministerial holiday, Mr Johnson will fly to the island with his girlfriend Carrie Symonds for a post-election celebratory getaway after their first Christmas together in Downing Street.

Times this morning,

Grammaretto Tue 24-Dec-19 09:05:25

He's off to Mustique. True to form.

Yehbutnobut Tue 24-Dec-19 09:04:38

That’s for New Year. Perhaps he’s meeting up with Aussie PM there.
