I suspect that everyone in Westminster could do with a holiday after the stress of the election. It's to all our benefit if MPs including, or especially, the PM return refreshed and ready to get on with the new year's workload.

It’s in all our interests to have a well rested PM ready to tackle the demands of the job in the new year.

He had an incredibly hectic run up to the election, crisscrossing the country which thankfully paid off.

Of course as we have seen here, that fact won’t stop the sneering comments of those who begrudge him a much needed break. The Caribbean is a great choice for a Christmas holiday,

Anyway he did visit the flooded areas a few weeks ago.

I wonder what those caught up in the floods and those helping them would prefer:

A visit from the PM with lots of journalists and photographers in tow or

To be able to get on with the job and get people back into their homes as quickly as possible

I have always been suspicious of those dignitaries using disasters for a photo opportunity.

Perhaps he should ‘do a Corbyn’ give a hug, say loudly ,cameras around him’. I feel your pain ‘

If he did go and visit the flood victims, he would surely be accused of it being 'just a publicity stunt'. The truth is, he can do nothing right in the eyes of those who dislike him (just as with Trump).
His holiday was probably booked months ago, why shouldn't he enjoy himself ?

Boris visited flood stricken areas recently, he also spent time in Estonia visiting the troops helping with Xmas dinner. Imo he certainly both deserves and needs a complete break before returning to a heavy work load in order to deal with complexities of brexit. As has been said, to some he can't do right for doing wrong, so there's no point discussing it!!

Perhaps we should ask the pope to give him a saint hood....but first the Blessèd Boris.

Jane10 but surely trips and holidays should be put on hold when terrible things are happening in ones own country if you are PM?

Of course Boris needs a break after all he's been doing the job for such a long time and he's managed to do so much. What good would he do visiting the flood people? Come to think of it what good is he doing any of us? Could we possibly arrange for him to be stranded permanantly on that island? No one would miss him.

A friend who lives in the area in Yorkshire that was flooded a couple of weeks ago was complaining that Prince Charles had paid them a visit yesterday. She said it was a waste of time and pointless. I guess sometimes they can’t do right for doing wrong.

I think Boris would be much missed, after all he saved the country from the appalling Corbyn and his cohorts , and create that alone he deserves a knighthood.??

Oh, give over griping! It’s not the same as the Australian PM flying off in the middle of a crisis. I for one hope Boris enjoys a good holiday- he’s jolly well earned it!!!!

It’s nice to see that the majority on here has no objection to Boris taking a break.
