Borrowed from a Friend on FB. Just to make people clear of what, as a nation, we have voted for:

In his first four days as Prime Monster of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has:

Cut the disability benefits of 650,000 vulnerable humans.

Rolled back on plans to address the climate change emergency.

Banned any boycott of Israel and supported their renewed offensive against the unarmed civilians of Gaza.

Removed child refugee legal protections.

Rolled back his pledge to increase nurses for the NHS.

Told us that the NHS is no longer protected from a trade deal with the US.

Told us that future deals will be conducted in secret.

Blocked anyone without photo ID from voting in future elections.

Drafted new constituency boundaries to keep the Tories in power indefinitely.

Dismissed renewed calls for a second Scottish independence referendum causing further disharmony.

Stated that workers rights and Trade Unions are under threat.

Rolled back pledge to increase the national living wage.

Announced an increase in MP’s wages to £82k a year

Scrapped EU directives on holiday pay, sick leave and working hours.

Stated that Brexit is happening by the the 31st of January with the worst no-deal scenario yet.

For anyone looking for sources (thanks Katie Round):

Sorry Jane10 but what point are you making.

Barmeyoldbat Tue 24-Dec-19 21:36:18

Septima, I have been working in a food right up to today despite having a chest infection.

Jane10 Tue 24-Dec-19 21:36:04

I feel sorry for you as you blindly miss the points made by thinking GNers. Life is not as black and white as you persistently see it.

Septimia Tue 24-Dec-19 21:33:12

How many of the people commenting on here have actually done anything to help those worse off than themselves this Christmas, rather than just complaining?

Barmeyoldbat Tue 24-Dec-19 21:29:02

Thanks for supporting my post Gagajo.

GagaJo Tue 24-Dec-19 20:53:05

its Christmas and shame on the GN who are not thinking of them at this time of year and trying to be dismissive.

Exactly. My thoughts are with children living in B&Bs because they're otherwise homeless, with families needing to use foodbanks, with people waiting over a month for money from Universal Credit, with the disabled whose care allowance has been cancelled/cut.

Barmeyoldbat Tue 24-Dec-19 20:04:39

This is only the start, nothing will come of his promises, he is in power now and he will u turn. It is a sorry state of affairs that we will now have to wait 5 years before we can once again try to get rid of this evil, yes evil, government. One that punishes the most vulnerable in society. Yes its Christmas and shame on the GN who are not thinking of them at this time of year and trying to be dismissive.

Genuine questions that have been asked of disabled people in their assessments by people who are allegedly Health Professionals and are paid bonuses to remove the remove the benefit, so do it any way they can ....

"Why hasn't your leg grown back yet?"

"When did your Cerebral Palsy begin?"

"When did you catch Down's Syndrome?"

A claimant who was suicidal was asked: “And why didn’t you succeed? Why did you fail?”

No fairy tales here unfortunately sad

If you are able to put a pen in a top pocket, you are able to work ....

If people choose to dismiss dishonesty, it says a lot about them. Unfortunately, there's not a lot anybody else can do, apart from continuing to try and ensure facts aren't hidden and smiling sweetly grin.

growstuff Tue 24-Dec-19 19:19:21

No problem. I was bored and am always keen to present people with facts, even if they choose to ignore them.

GagaJo Tue 24-Dec-19 19:09:40

Fantastic growstuff, thank you!

Mr Johnson is poised to double down on his pledge to leave the EU “deal or no deal” at the end of next year when he tables the Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) this week.

I'm sure everybody knew exactly what they were voting for, so the above will come as no surprise.

For those who didn't know, may Santa bring you a plentiful supply of blinkers and enough sand, in which to bury your heads.

GagaJo Tue 24-Dec-19 17:05:07

Davidhs, don't they just! Links may not work because I copied and pasted from a friend.

MerylStreep, if THAT is what you take from this, I pity you. Try having some compassion and READING comments on here from people like MadeInYorkshire. These things affect real people.

OldWoman70, depends what I see online. It isn't anti Boris stuff anymore, is it? They are our government, and if we are continuing to pretend we're in a democracy, I think it's allowable to point out how the things they do affect the vulnerable in our country.

Jane10 Tue 24-Dec-19 16:34:20

I'm not a right wing poster. I voted LibDem tactically to keep SNP out in our constituency. It's too easy to just assume there's only left or right wing posters on GN as it is in the entire electorate there are many other points of view. GN represents a whole spectrum of political opinion.

Dinahmo Tue 24-Dec-19 16:15:14

MaizieD Admitting one is wrong is one of the most difficult things to do so Leavers will never do it, unless the country falls to pieces, in which case they'll blame the Remainers. They constantly accuse the Labour voters of being Momentum/Corbyn supporters who are also Marxists/Leninists/Stalinists or any other disparaging names that they can of. However, if they read lefty posts on here properly, they would see that whilst several people support many of Corbyn's policies, most lefties are critical of the LP. This of course, is in contrast to the right wing posters who can find nothing wrong with Johnson.

MaizieD Tue 24-Dec-19 16:04:18

the economy would nosedive.

It's already nosedived. Last quarter's growth figures the lowest for a decade. Economy is highly dependent on consumer spending and with personal debt at the highest levels ever it doesn't look good for the future.

If Johnson takes us out of the EU with no deal, which he's threatening again now he has complete control of Parliament it's likely to be zero growth for the next few quarters... And complete chaos over trade deals.

I don't think that people have any notion of the implications of Brexit...

Anniebach Tue 24-Dec-19 15:49:28

The Final boundary changes were announced in 2018 by the boundaries commission.

MerylStreep Tue 24-Dec-19 15:46:45

Doesn't really matter, does it. They all support the party that took a crushing defeat.

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 15:38:12

SC somehow sounds familiar , but I could be wrong!

Davidhs Tue 24-Dec-19 15:36:43

The articles are good but the links got abbreviated, can’t be bothered to correct them myself because leavers think the sun is shining where it shouldn’t.

GagaJo has in the past praised how things are run in China, a far better system, apparently, than the UK. I was just pointing out few disturbing discrepancies kept firmly under wraps of course!!!

MadeInYorkshire Tue 24-Dec-19 15:32:38

When you are someone relying on said Disability Benefits and know some of these people it is horrifying, and is definitely NOT a fairytale! They have deliberately moved the goalposts so that people like myself don't get the assistance they need - there by the Grace of God go you that voted for this terrible party - I hope one day that you or your family are not hit by a sudden change of health or circumstance and need the help of the state (that you have actually paid for by the way!) because if you do, you will realise what is happening to us "useless eaters" and it isn't pleasant!! Look what they have done to Thomas Cook employees ....
