ladymuck I don't understand how the "lefties" have had their way. The UK has had a Conservative government for ten years and many people would claim that the previous Labour government wasn't really "leftie".
Would you be so kind as to explain what you mean by "leftie" and what you're against?

Damage done to the UK ALREADY following the elction
(318 Posts)Borrowed from a Friend on FB. Just to make people clear of what, as a nation, we have voted for:
In his first four days as Prime Monster of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has:
Cut the disability benefits of 650,000 vulnerable humans.
Rolled back on plans to address the climate change emergency.
Banned any boycott of Israel and supported their renewed offensive against the unarmed civilians of Gaza.
Removed child refugee legal protections.
Rolled back his pledge to increase nurses for the NHS.
Told us that the NHS is no longer protected from a trade deal with the US.
Told us that future deals will be conducted in secret.
Blocked anyone without photo ID from voting in future elections.
Drafted new constituency boundaries to keep the Tories in power indefinitely.
Dismissed renewed calls for a second Scottish independence referendum causing further disharmony.
Stated that workers rights and Trade Unions are under threat.
Rolled back pledge to increase the national living wage.
Announced an increase in MP’s wages to £82k a year
Scrapped EU directives on holiday pay, sick leave and working hours.
Stated that Brexit is happening by the the 31st of January with the worst no-deal scenario yet.

I agree with your points Grany.
I also thank Jeremy Corbyn. So refreshing finding an honest, moral politician. I'd given up on politics and he gave me faith it WAS possible for a poltician to care about others and have integrity
Sad he didn't become PM but being realistic, it was never going to happen. The establishment couldn't allow the complete overhaul of our social system.
But I'm glad we we had him for a while. Inspirational man.
I think we will soon start to reap what we have sown. For decades now this country has been on a decline, with standards dropping all across society.
The lefties have had their way for too long and we are now seeing the results.
Time to call a halt and get some common sense back into politics. Trouble is, the decadent seem to be in the majority, so us sensible, rational ones have a battle on our hands.
Grany Do you get all your opinions from Twitter - or do you sometimes actually think for yourself?
Wasn't she wonderful
@GretaThunberg
What a year... I won’t even try to summarise it - but nothing would have been possible without your support. So thank you!
This coming decade humanity will decide it’s future. Let’s make it the best one we can.
We have to do the impossible.
So let’s get started.
Happy new year!

why do you keep posting the same post???
So us lefties are NOT sore losers or conspiracy theorists. There was some strange amount of fiddling going on. Big time.

A town with less than 7,000 voters; but 41,000 VOTES were counted in a local election, returning a TORY.
And it had to be fought to the HIGH COURT to get it overturned! twitter.com/sulaalice/status/1211757838852337668…
So why was the postal vote so high in the GE much more than in other years?
Instead of addressing why they had such a major, unprecedented defeat, that tiny loyal Corbyn band, keep making excuses for him and them. Get a grip, try to make a good opposition you will have plenty of time to get it right.

@Traylos
Thank you #jeremyCorbyn for bringing hope when politics felt and was soulless after Blair, you've never stopped fighting for a equal society for the many, fighting for peace and reaching out to those who'd given up. We/I'm ready to fight for my children'. Socialism has woken
#londonfireworks
Oh #JeremyCorbyn tune followed by Pavarotti' s singing "at dawn I'll win"
Is it me or Red London is making a clear statement tonight?
I totally agree London.

EU citizens who have lived in this country for years, paid taxes and contributed to our communities in many ways are being treated shamefully. Please sign this petition

None of the links are working, what changes to the disability benefits are there.can't find anything about this?
Oh, sorry, wrong person. It wass Oopsminty. Apologies, Ug
The EU adopting austerity post 2008 has nothing to do with the UK government adopting it. That's a real non sequitor, Ug.
Didn't most of the EU adopt austerity?
Post 2008?
Don't think that neither the Conservatives nor Boris can be held responsible for that
A fine example of fake news Urmstongran.
According to Johnson's voting record on "They Work For You", Johnson:
a) Has never voted on reducing housing benefit for social tenants deemed to have excess bedrooms (which Labour describe as the "bedroom tax")
b) Almost always voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability (the only reason it's almost always is because he was absent).
c) Almost always voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits (he was absent for four votes, but voted for a reduction 19 times).
How does that make him only right of centre? He has always supported austerity.
nonsense boogeyman
Boris did vote for austerity measures
Sure thing. He's a big middle of the road, kinda guy.
Boris is mildly right of centre, wanting more money for the NHS and police.
But having had such a crushing defeat for hard left policies, I suppose there is a need to have some nonsense boogeyman to virtuously rail against. Something the comrades can pointlessly group around.
JenniferE, Boris did vote for austerity measures, except certain ones that would have affected London, (This at the time he was hoping to be Mayor).
The quote below gives one example, more detail from the article in ‘The Guardian’, link below quote.
‘He consistently voted for reducing central government funding for local authorities, including most recently to vote to set the main central government grant for 2018-19 at a level 56% lower than it was set for 2017-18.’

Think about who is least likely to have photo ID Keeper1.
May I ask why would it be a bad thing to have to produce photo ID at polling stations? I am genuinely puzzled by this
I seem to remember reading that Boris wasn’t in favour of Theresa May’s austerity programme but of course he wasn’t PM then.
He was still a Conservative. I'm afraid you cannot rewrite history. The Conservatives continued with the so-called "austerity" programme lot after it could be shown to be necessary and in a way that has almost shattered many of our services. It was purely political and if you are a Conservative/voted conservative it's down to you and as a Conservative MP, member and voter it's down to him too. We haven't suddenly flown into a new world leaving the past behind.
According to Liverpool Echo over fifty seven Merseyside council workers earn over £100,00 a year. Together with nice expense accounts.
Do you find that strange? What do you think people at the top of large organisations earn. What would be acceptable to you? They will either be well paid there or well paid elsewhere if they are good at their job at that level.
We told you so!
Theresa May didn't have an austerity programme. She inherited it from the previous tory regime (Cameron/Osborne) and made noises about bringing it to an end. Not much sign of that happening.
Perhaps you could remember where you read that, JE and share a link?
