I loved the message it sent to the country. We may not have the government we wanted but all those who had a re-energized belief in British politics are still there. Solidarity!

I'm aware the usual naysayers will be on here, hurling abuse. But they don't cancel out that lovely message. If anything, they make it even more important.

Could it be those who chanted were chanting ‘poor Jeremy
Corbyn’.

This hero worship chanting might sit well with giggly 14 year olds at a concert, but supposedly mature, thinking adults doing it is decidedly off putting. It's too much like the Trump fans who go in for chants at his rallies.

You'd better get singing then Annie. Make sure of it!

Anniebach Fri 03-Jan-20 15:05:25

Yes, next time too.

Barmeyoldbat Fri 03-Jan-20 14:47:05

Not next time Annie.

GagaJo Fri 03-Jan-20 14:25:54

Change the record cynics, you're boring.

NOT to mention, you should encourage it, if it keeps Labour out, surely? That's what you WANT!

Oh, Jeremy Corbyn!

Anniebach Fri 03-Jan-20 13:33:26

Stops the Labour Party winning an election

Grany Fri 03-Jan-20 13:19:03

Doesent stop the Labour Left movement from growing that's what matters now

Anniebach Fri 03-Jan-20 13:17:14

I think it’s rather sad

Chewbacca Fri 03-Jan-20 13:13:51

I think that chanting "Oh Jeremy Corbyn" at this juncture could be likened to whistling in the wind. Too late and no one that matters can hear you.

Yennifer Fri 03-Jan-20 13:11:51

Oh Jeremy Corbyn!

Grany Fri 03-Jan-20 13:10:19

Yes us lefties are a happy bunch and I will just sit and wait for the s...t to hit the fan in the next 5 years. When we can all tell you I told you so.

GagaJo Fri 03-Jan-20 12:15:27

Whatever. Your negativity is fortunately not infectious.

POGS and we all know there's lots of them. They swallowed the MSM message so easily and look where that's got us!

POGS Fri 03-Jan-20 11:18:15

Gagajo

I wouldn't be at all surprised if a pro Corbyn site somewhere states the Euro 2008 crowd were chanting ' Oh Jeremy Corbyn'.

The fact it was 8 years before Corbyn even became Leader will not stop them after all it is everybody else who tells conspiracy theories never those sites. Some will take it on board and be happy clappy.

I am not saying there would not be a few in the crowd who would have heard the White Stripes and chanted ' Oh Jeremy Corbyn' but others seem to appear to think the entire crowd were were doing likewise, as one poster stated :-

'London the NYE fireworks were drowned out by chants of "O Jeremy Corbyn'

They were not so it is just making the facts known to those who will swallow misinformation/spin if and when it suits them.

Callistemon Fri 03-Jan-20 10:45:56

We're a happy ? bunch, we socialists. We have our self belief to keep us warm.
Well done, keep your glass half full!

Yes, POGS

I did some googling and was amazed to hear the same 'chanting' at a Euro 2016 match

Chewbacca Thu 02-Jan-20 23:49:11

That's fortunate in the circumstances GagaJo.

GagaJo Thu 02-Jan-20 23:39:58

Not for a second. We're a happy ? bunch, we socialists. We have our self belief to keep us warm. ? ? ?

Callistemon Thu 02-Jan-20 23:35:42

Oh Jeremy Corbyn!

sunshine sunshine sunshine sunshine

POGS Thu 02-Jan-20 20:05:50

Meant to say.

As for singing ' Oh Jeremy Corbyn' I only hear the crowd chanting '' oh, oh, oh, oh, oh ' which is widely chanted at sports events based on the White Stripes song ' Seven Nation Army '. The chant ' Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh ' is used at sporting events in various countries. It has been chanted for years, way before Corbyn became Leader in 2015.

At one stage in the firework display on New Year's Eve the fireworks were coordinated with popular sporting songs of which the White Stripes was one of the songs being played. Because it is a well known chant in many countries it therefore follows it be would be widely known by the crowd of various nationalities no doubt attending the London New Year celebration.

It is true to say the ' Oh Jeremy Corbyn' chant was lifted from the White Stripes, Seven Nation Army song.
