After the news about Bea and Edo's wedding venue this morning, I was having a quick scan to see what Harry would managed to newsbomb them with. Well it seems they scurried around a bit and finally got themselves into the evening news. Well done Harry and Meghan, don't get caught napping when you have family to compete with for publicity [roll eyes]

It is understood the Duke gave a speech at the 1 Hotel on Miami’s South Beach in support of Reform Alliance, a prison campaign charity, which wants to change the “laws, policies and practices that perpetuate the horrific injustices” it says are rife within the American criminal justice system.

This was from Friday's Telegraph.

Was he ever interested in changing the laws and policies of UK prisons?

Does he actually know anything about the American criminal justice system?

Would there have been nothing more than a tenuous link to his own mental health issues?

William has spoken of his problems and listens to others with
problems . Harry only speaks of his problems , he has become
a celebrity depression sufferer .

ReadyMeals Mon 10-Feb-20 10:45:11

The only thing that I'd take issue with in this new drive to have mental illness acceptable is that it shouldn't be forgotten that depression etc are illnesses to be hopefully cured one day, and not something to be worn like a badge of honour, or like one of those Help For Heroes wrist bands. I am sometimes concerned that Harry is blurring the distinction. I don't want to start seeing Celebrity Depression emerging as the new fashion - these things always seem to leave the ordinary suffering person still no better off or better provided for.

The only things I know a out B and E is that they take lots of holidays, wear silly hats and have a rat for a father.

ReadyMeals Mon 10-Feb-20 10:34:07

It's fairly usual for people with depression to become a bit self-centred and introverted, which is almost certainly not their fault or under their control at the time.

suziewoozie Mon 10-Feb-20 10:23:28

It’s a pity the Meghan haters can’t move on

PernillaVanilla Mon 10-Feb-20 10:22:59

I felt a bit sad about Harry's talk, it was so self centred. How long will people want to listen to him going on and on about how he has been treated? I also felt sad because he could have used this opportunity to highlight some of the causes that he is passionate about, in particular the Invictus Games, where he really has done exceptional work. I thought his new life was to enable him to really make a difference through this sort of thing.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-20 10:15:33

Some wish to discuss the decision, those who don’t can -
move on ?

jaylucy Mon 10-Feb-20 10:11:16

I'm rolling my eyes that someone has even bothered to post this spiteful post in the first place !
A decision has been made, it's happening so move on!

Callistemon Mon 10-Feb-20 10:10:26

We don't know them

Actually, as no-one really knows who anyone is on here or who knows whom, that statement may not be factual.

Callistemon Mon 10-Feb-20 10:08:42

Greymar I believe everything I read grin

Actually, they do come across as pleasant girls, charming and not a bit arrogant.
Surprisingly.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-20 09:00:59

I agree, if they take on public duties the press will start digging, it’s what they do . It has happened to them all .

Bridgeit Mon 10-Feb-20 08:53:02

Good post Nezumi65, I totally agree.

Greymar Mon 10-Feb-20 08:32:28

Of course they are nice girls. It says so on the papers. It must be true.

Nezumi65 Mon 10-Feb-20 06:35:26

You’re missing the point. I couldn’t care less how much either of them drinks, but if the tabloids decide they do then the narrative will turn nasty (it already has in some articles - they’re just few & far between because they’re not that interested). And the pitchfork brigade will oblige & suddenly they’ll be a shocker.

I have no idea whether they’re nice girls with or without a drink problem. None of us do. We don’t know them.

Callistemon Sun 09-Feb-20 23:08:50

being drunk
shock

Callistemon Sun 09-Feb-20 23:08:11

merlotgran they seem to be very nice girls despite their parents!! And I am sure they love their parents who will have a different relationship with them than they do with others.

Goodness, who hasn't had a bit of fun in their teens and twenties Nezumi!!

Oh, well perhaps some haven't.

Anniebach Sun 09-Feb-20 21:25:56

The Queen is to hold Beatrice’s wedding reception at Buck
House, the last wedding reception held there was William and
Kate’s

Nezumi65 Sun 09-Feb-20 21:25:49

The only reason you haven’t seen much about Beatrice and Eugenie is because the media hasn’t been that interested in them.

There have been small articles about Beatrice’s love of ‘partying’ (& a few about her being drunk)

If the media become interested I’m sure they can rip them to shreds as well.

ReadyMeals Sun 09-Feb-20 21:20:28

I am looking forward to welcoming Beatrice and Eugenie onto the front line. They've never done anything publicly wrong, they seem dignified.

Anniebach Sun 09-Feb-20 20:44:08

I agree merlot , those two girls have never hit the front pages with talk of affairs etc, don’t think they have given interviews of their problems, they didn’t choose their parents.

I think they both support charities now.

merlotgran Sun 09-Feb-20 18:49:05

I will be glad if Beatrice and Eugenie are asked to do some official royal duties.

They've put up with loads of criticism over their dress sense (some of it justified)
They've had to trail along in the wake of Kate and then Meghan.
They've been loyal and loving daughters to the two most embarrassing royal parents ever.
The Queen is justifiably very fond of them.
They have jobs. (I think)
Eugenie has a nice unassuming husband who earns his own dosh.
Beatrice's intended is a bit of a looker and isn't he a Count? She'll have her own title.

Hang on in there, girls. It's your time to shine!! grin

Anniebach Sun 09-Feb-20 18:00:30

Who will do the commonwealth visits ?

Callistemon Sun 09-Feb-20 17:56:43

jolbrook
DH said he heard that plans are underway for Eugenie and Beatrice to take on some of M&H's duties.

That should please Andrew.

The fact is that these visits, the official duties etc are planned months if not years in advance and Anne, Wills, Katherine, the Wessexes probably can't fit them in around their own schedules.

Anniebach Sun 09-Feb-20 17:55:21

Megan introduced Harry to the audience and spoke of her love for him !
