This thread could be subtitled “ Cummings and Goingsgrin

Well the ‘Vote Leave’ takeover of the government appears to be complete.

Some three-and-a-half years since the Brexit referendum, and within a year of Boris succeeding Theresa May as PM all four of the 'great offices of state' are now held by MPs who campaigned to leave the EU.

The changeover is hugely symbolic. Philip Hammond was described by senior pro-Leave MPs as "the beating heart of Remain", with the then Chancellor repeatedly accused of holding up no-deal preparations and revelling in downbeat economic forecasts of life outside the EU.

Time now to surge forward!

isn't it good to seeBoris is including "ordinary " folk in his cabinet ? OOPs ...not so ordinary ,the son in law of an Indian billionaire.I guess he's likely to know all the problems the working family face ...NOT!

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 19:20:59

Yep

varian Thu 13-Feb-20 19:14:05

It seems that the role of Chancellor has also been redefined in the same terms suziewoozie

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 19:11:12

Oh varian varian you missed the bit where the role of AG was redefined into that of giving the Government the legal advice that DC has written out for her ?

Surely the job of Attorney General is to uphold the law and defend the courts, not to be a PM's poodle who will do as she is told even if it means weakening the law of the land.

If political vetting of our Supreme Court judges is allowed we will be no better than the USA and it is a tragedy that the European Court of Justice will no longer be able to defend us.

Nandalot Thu 13-Feb-20 18:46:23

The new Attorney General wants to take power away from the courts!

This is chilling.

Oopsminty Thu 13-Feb-20 18:12:46

There is no irony

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 18:03:39

I think they mean Dom Cummings POGS. Although I could be wrong.

I have been told so on occasion.....

The Twittersphere is highly amusing on the Shuffle. The new Attorney General, Suella Braverman, is described as making RLB look like an intellectual.

Remember this lot moaning about the EU being run by “unelected bureaucrats”. Ironic.

My first thoughts exactly!

I usually understand posts but I don't get your point. Where is the irony. Who are the ' Unelected bureaucrats' you are thinking of presumably running the government.?

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 17:28:33

I know growstuff but it scanned better my way.
?

Thanks Fennel I try my best ha!

Fennel Thu 13-Feb-20 16:58:05

Urmston - I admire your persistence, Even though I'm at the other side of the fence politically.
To get to the truth we need to have opposing views, as many as possible.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 16:57:02

BJ politically correct?? ?

growstuff Thu 13-Feb-20 16:50:25

Rishi replaced Sajid.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-20 16:40:49

Thanks suziewoozie all I could think of was an insurance company!

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 16:39:50

True sw but a boost for any holidaymakers in the short term - for half term anyway!

As for the reshuffle - even Stormzy would acknowledge this effort. Suella, Alok and Rishi replace Andrea, Esther and Geoffrey....To be more politically correct would be hard.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Feb-20 16:26:16

The £ is like a fiddler’s elbow ( my gran would have said something much more crude?)

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 16:13:52

Well the pound against the euro has shot up!

Urmstongran Thu 13-Feb-20 16:08:51

Apologies sw I’ve been in and out the last 3 days so I’ve obviously missed that of which you reference on a different thread. Sorry.

But now you’ve brought your annoyance over onto this thread. Shame that.
