Why not start a new thread of your own on the wonderfulness of H and M?
Television presenters you really like
Is democracy being by-passed in favour of the billionaires?
I am disgusted by the announcement that these two have sacked 15 British members of staff. What are they thinking?
I ask myself 'how would I feel if I'd upped sticks and gone to another country out of loyalty to my employer, only for them to get rid of me 3 months later.
I would be heartbroken and furious.

Oh I think it just fulfills a need to see all older women as condemnatory and judgemental. People can say the most awful things about H&M but call other posters what they actually are and you'll get deleated because it's not in the spirit of GN. Which seems to be saying as many vile things about a young woman as you can. It's not a spirit I find at all acceptable (I expect this to go!)
There has always been criticism of males and females in the
public eye.
Sorry forgot to say William was 15.
On a positive note, it was reported today that the Queen asked H+M to accompany her to church this morning, and if that is the case, I think that was a lovely thing to do. It has also often been reported that Harry is the Queen’s favourite, clearly we don’t know if it’s true, but it is possible that she has a particular empathy with both William and Harry because the boys were at Balmoral with her when their mother was killed. It would be a very hard hearted grandparent who didn’t have a particularly close relationship and sense of responsibility and care, if the child’s parent was killed, and particularly if the child was actually in the grandparent’s care at the time the parent was killed.
Given that situation, and the situation that Harry is about to leave the country, possibly for an extended amount of time, I think she was extending a peace offering to the couple. Also she probably didn’t want tomorrow’s Commonwealth Service to be the place where she came into contact with Meghan for the first time since this all began, and perhaps especially as Camilla was reported as being upset with Meghan over the domestic violence speech made by Camilla. The Queen owes her allegiance firstly to her heir, and must be seen tomorrow at the side of Charles and Camilla, so I think she wanted to make her peace with Meghan.
Before anyone jumps down my throat, my opinion only based on what I’ve seen and observed.
There has always been criticism of males and females in the public eye.
Does that make it alright?

I think it is a huge stretch to suggest I am perpetuating this thread but you will have your personal attack, won't you.
As for the "wonderfulness" [seriously?] of the two people being treated to the modern version of dragging them around the town and pelting them with rotten fruit as the peasants once did, I have no opinion about them. I know no more about them than most of you actually do. That, of course, does not stop posters conjuring specious facts from the ether and libelling them. No, I am not going to get into that game as it is just the other side of what I object to GN hosting and associating the rest of us with, as if they were the worst of the gutter press.
Well, no one could say you don't have an active imagination maddyone.
Night Night.
as the peasants once did
Tells you all you need to know about someone who thinks free speech, and community retribution for criminal acts (Stocks and rotten veg) are for the "peasant" element.

Well thank you GGMK3.

As that was obviously aimed at me personally ananimous, I wonder if you could explain what has happened to the other aspirations of British culture on this thread such as mutual respect an tolerance? I see little or none of that from those verbally stoning Meghan. They show no mercy, no thought for the law and now the couple are down they just keep kicking.
Of course there are gangs like this in our country but I never anticipated Gransnet joining them. I would not suggest the group entertaining themselves in them is way are peasants - had you asked me instead of assuming and twisting my words - but there is nothing satirical, or irreverent in the posts on here in the way that has always made us laugh, it is simple bullying.

I’ve found myself looking at this long running thread with a kind of awful fascination... thinking surely they (including some posters whose contributions on other topics have been kind )can’t still be carping(bitching?) on.
It would probably fizzle out naturally as all long threads do but for posts such as yours Lucca.... so all you are doing is making sure it goes on.
Coffee and donuts anyone?
?
Yes I’ve been reading with the same fascination. One poster, in particular, is coming across as obsessive and some of her posts make no sense whatsoever. Quite bizarre.
I’m not taking responsibility for that sorry. if that were the case the thread should include something along the lines of “please do not post if you disagree with me”
Republic
Not at all biased then

Yet again your first thought is to attack someone else. Has it occurred to you that it might have "fizzled out naturally" if the bullying Meghan posts had stopped? As they didn't it is only right that those who oppose such behaviour call it out.
I wonder about the morality of this country and how we will cope with the upcoming difficulties of the virus. Morality still exists but it only goes about as far as family and friends. We seem to have moved from the Judeo-Christian based guilt culture of forgiveness and reparation to a shame culture - exactly as most of the posters have been trying to present Meghan - because, let's face it, this isn't really about Harry is it. In a shame culture, there is no forgiveness just enemies and it is rotting our basic morality. It seems to be working from the older generations down too which is very sad to see.
and exactly the attitude and judgemental condemnation of anyone not quite fitting the Royal mould- which will cause the destruction of the Monarchy. Young people will be the ones to decide- those young people who are clearly inspired by Harry and Meghan.
What a very weird thread
The young are sure to be supportive of Megan, celebrity every time.

Yet again - making an enemy and attacking. Some will be attracted by the celebrity but many are making up their own minds. However, vast swathes of the old, apparently, can't stand those who don't agree with them. You chose to make an enemy of the young but what happens when they chose to turn the table and see you as their enemy.
I've decided some posters on GN have a very odd and weird imaginary relationship with Harry. It's the only reason I can think of for their absolute hatred of Meghan Markle.
Annie, the fact that you still refuse to spell her name properly says a lot.
