Is Priti on the way out?

She also doesn't understand that 'economically inactive' does not just mean unemployed. My severely learning disabled niece is economically inactive. What sort of work does she propose she does? Pick soft fruit? Look after under 5s? Train as a nurse?

She's probably not on her way out yet, although she cartainly should be.

She is supposed to be the Home Secretary and yet appears to be so dim that she can'rt tell the difference between terrorists and counter-terrorists.

I have never met Priti Patel and I'm not likely ever to do so. To me she comes across as haughty and dogmatic. This Australian point based immigration system that apparently is going to solve everything I firmly believe will solve nothing. I'm not sure how those Brits who have been concerned about this country being 'flooded' with foreign nationals are going to react when they realize that nothing much will change. The favourite scapegoat will no longer be there.

Yehbutnobut Mon 24-Feb-20 12:18:52

Hope so!

Granadad Or it could be that Team Patel is responsible for stirring things and accusing MI5 of withholding information because she wants to sack some staff. Who knows?

NotSpaghetti Mon 24-Feb-20 10:16:53

Maybe the conservatives you know Firecracker but the ones I've discussed her with do not. My mother-in-law thinks she is "embarrassing" for example.

Firecracker123 Mon 24-Feb-20 09:38:24

I like and admire her and in the real world most Conservative voters do as well.

EllanVannin Mon 24-Feb-20 09:30:31

Another horrible woman ! Thinks she knows everything and knows nothing.

NotSpaghetti Mon 24-Feb-20 09:10:56

I hope she does go.
She's nasty and not very bright in my opinion, but as GagaJo says, will simply be replaced with another puppet.

GagaJo Mon 24-Feb-20 08:46:48

I grappled with that idea before I posted this Davidhs. Women are held to FAR greater account than men and yes, if they are from a different ethnic group to the majority, even more so. 100% I get that.

Diane Abbott I admire hugely. She has done SO much that I stand in awe of. Frankly, I have NO idea how she has coped with the racism and bigotry she has endured over the many, many years of her career. Corbyn, I think was broken, by the attacks on him during the election. Diane has suffered that for years and stood strong.

But Priti, I feel is different. She has imposed some horrific stuff on the country. YES, under the direction of DC, but still.

Not that it makes much difference if she goes. Cummings will just put in another of his puppets.

Patel seems to me a “Pushy” woman and will never be popular, as such there are a good number of men, and some women who would rejoice at her downfall. The security services are a naturally conservative organisation of career experts who advise politicians, so to isn’t the lefties that are a threat
Politicians come and go if she doesn’t work “with” them she will go sooner.

Ginny42 Mon 24-Feb-20 07:41:05

I gather that the civil servants were trying to warn her that she was acting /proposing to act outside the law. Isn't that what they're supposed to do?

Curlywhirly Mon 24-Feb-20 07:31:51

Doesn't really matter now what MI5 think of Diane Abbott, she's standing down!

Grandad1943 Mon 24-Feb-20 07:28:05

growstuff Quote [MI5 is denying it.] End Quote.

Well, being MI5 they would deny it, would they not. Being "undercover" they deny almost all thy are engaged in. ?

Kandinsky Mon 24-Feb-20 07:02:14

Crikey, if MI5 don’t trust her god knows what they’d think of Diane Abbott. ?

vegansrock Mon 24-Feb-20 06:23:51

Senior civil servants “lefties” ??? Evidence?????

Eloethan Mon 24-Feb-20 00:36:07

If only ...

suziewoozie Sun 23-Feb-20 22:28:51

The main problem with Priti is she’s just not very bright ( and a nasty piece of work). I think DC will keep her in post until the points system collapses ( and it will) and then sack her as it will of course all be her fault.

Dinahmo Sun 23-Feb-20 22:27:48

Let's hope so.

growstuff Sun 23-Feb-20 22:24:25

Civil servants don't like her because she's not trustworthy. She's already been sacked once for having unauthorised meetings with Israeli officials.

How many senior civil servants do you know quizqueen? It's laughable to think they are "lefties".

quizqueen Sun 23-Feb-20 22:11:40

The civil servants don't like her because she's clearly not a Leftie- tough- get rid of the civil servants, who think more of criminals and the EU's rights than those of the UK.

jura2 Sun 23-Feb-20 22:07:58

oh what can but dream. PermaSmirk out.

growstuff Sun 23-Feb-20 21:42:36

MI5 is denying it.
