US troops forced to act on the ground?
In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands. ”
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “
trisher you say ‘memberS of the family who seem to be above the law, please list the names
This is not about family members , it’s about one woman ,
We can assume trisher you know everything of the behaviour of Mitterands family ?
halfpint1 there are members of the Queen's family whose behaviour is far more questionable than anything Mitterand did. The problem is that they seem to be above the law and normal conventions, and don't answer to anyone.
What to replace a monarchy with
These guys have actually done it Ireland

I suppose there are few issues here..is the Queen too old for the job, should she have pragmatically handed over some years ago?
Is the Queen chosen by God to rule and therefore must see it through?
Would anything coming from the Queen by way of a speech, reassure people in this crisis?
It is a complete and utter myth to claim that the Windsors are hard working and do a good job.
(This is what they do do)
They conduct several visits a day these visits are frequently little more than an hour, involving cutting a ribbon to open a school, or listening to the Band of the Irish Guards playing sections of music during the afternoon.
As Mark Bolland P Charles former press officer, said "the Windsors are very good at working three days a week five months of the year and make it look as though they work very hard"
Is this something somebody should be paid millions and millions of pounds for?
NB look at the in-depth detail each royal engagement is listed for each member of the Windsor family on the court circular section of the British Monarchy Website.
It is a lovely irony that the Windsors are capable of listing such propaganda in emaculate detail yet are unable to list their expenses and expenditure to such extent!
Extract from book by Liam Finn.
Some long for the Queen to make a speech so they can mock her.
So for those who would rather not have the Queen as head of the country , who are they proposing should be?
During my life in France and a few Présidents we have had
Monsieur Mitterand - well it turned out that he had a 'second secret family' so his score on loyalty took a hit then Monsieur Chirac, a really charasmatic likeable chap with a shady side in Paris property, Monsieur Sarkosy , known for his deals and had a sharp unpolite mouth , Monsieur Hollande, known as Mr Flabby and ridiculed from the start for his mistresses and now Monsieur Macron
an intelligent young man married to his teacher who qualifies well for this Forum
Further afield across the pond we have Présidents elected
after billions and billions are spent and look at the present result
So maybe having a 94 year old Lady who is outside politics and only motivated by her country and family is a far better pick
Well said Easybee
the promise, confer upon her some sort of god-given right, which is in essence the Divine Right.
No it is not. She is not an absolutist, neither does she regard herself as God's representative on earth. Power resides with parliament as she is very well aware; she is a figurehead.
That said, she took her vow to serve her country very seriously and will not break it; it is a personal commitment.
Why some people are creating such a fuss about her making a speech when they clearly despise her, and everything she stands for, is beyond me. This isn't the time to give in to mawkish sentimentality, as was demanded at the time of the death of Diana.
I seem to remember there was something similar after Diana's death. The Queen remained silent until she was more or less forced to speak. Or am I wrong?
What sort of nonsense discussion is this?
Dian's death has little to do with anything but the Queen was very involved caring for 2 utterly bereft young boys at the time
Anyone clamouring for the Queen to act in a certain way has problems
Allegedly trisher ?
trisher The only reason that she clings to the role is because she believes that the oil she was annointed with at her coronation and the promise, confer upon her some sort of god-given right, which is in essence the Divine Right.
How do you know that?
Please ..... everything is very challenging at the moment. Many of us are isolated. Why do the same old arguments have to be resurrected on here by the same old people? Can't we have some peace for once?
To address the nation the Queen would have to be in a room full of technicians, camera people and production assistants. If I were her I'd give them a wide berth!
Yes Greta allegedly it was Tony Blair who told her she had to act. No chance of Boris doing anything similar!
Greta what on earth has what, where, when the Queen spoke
Diana’s death to do with anyone.
Where you one of those who stood outside Buck House crying
‘Your country needs you’. ?
Ahh yes Jabberwok. ‘Orff with their heads’ ??
I don’t need to examine my thinking very carefully, I did so
in the 80’s when I decided the far left were a danger to this country.
I expect they'd be in line for the guillotine Bridgeit!!!
I find it extraordinary that any country can still have kings/queens. At least some monarchies, particular the Scandinavians, have slimmed down their royal families to the bare minimum. The Swedish King has spoken to the people and thanked them all for their efforts during this challenging time. The Queen or Prince Charles should obviously do the same. What are they waiting for? I seem to remember there was something similar after Diana's death. The Queen remained silent until she was more or less forced to speak. Or am I wrong?
Making a promise does not mean that your situation cannot change (no one would be divorced if it did). The only reason that she clings to the role is because she believes that the oil she was annointed with at her coronation and the promise, confer upon her some sort of god-given right, which is in essence the Divine Right. You can legislate all you want, removing the concept is much more difficult. And those who think they are not buying into that concept should examine their thinking very carefully.
We use to have a convent school here, it closed a few years ago, two Nuns stayed, both are now in their late 80’s , they continue to work in the community as they have done for many years, they made a promise when young.
I apologise Paddyann for mentioning this again , but my last statement includes you I beleive.
You're right Annie, she was 21 when she made that promise. FGS its nothing to do with the Divine Right of Kings! That idea became obsolete under the Act of Settlement circa 1688 at the start of the reign of William 111 (Dutch William) and Mary11nd!
Do those who decry the Queen, &RFnot care about the livelihoods of those who work for & earn a living due to their existence?
