Can anyone tell me what exactly is the point of the World Health Organisation?
From what I've seen over the last few weeks they don't seem to serve any purpose other than to spout incorrect advice or make statements of the obvious!
Like their latest offering "Wearing facemasks in public may become the new norm".

So how many 'experts' are getting paid big fat salaries to come up with that earth shattering snippet!

They're a waste of time and money. Taiwan is not a member of the W.H.O because of their mistrust of China and also the lack of transparency in related figures which W.H.O are always misquoting. Not fit for purpose.

Taiwan was ignored by the W.H.O when it was first known that there was a pandemic and as a consequence deprived Taiwan of any information regarding the virus.

It took China until January 20th to report/admit that the virus was transmitted from human to human.
Taiwan had been rehearsing for an outbreak for 17 years and to date the country has only 385 cases of coronavirus.

As soon as Taiwan heard of a pneumonia-type illness sweeping China they began aggressive testing, contact tracing and isolation of the sick before banning all flights from China.

The WHO chief has repeatedly praised China’s handling of the outbreak. But there’s been emerging anecdotal reports of authorities’ slow response to the outbreak in its early days.

The mayor of Wuhan, the outbreak’s epicenter, said in an interview with China’s Central Television Network last month that he couldn’t make an announcement early on as he was awaiting clearance from the central government.

A local doctor in Wuhan who tried to sound the alarm on the mysterious disease producing pneumonia-like symptoms in December revealed how his actions were met with warnings by local police not to spread rumors.

The WHO aid chief’s positive remarks over China’s response has received some criticisms on social media, but some experts have expressed how WHO is likely in a delicate political position.

“Tedros understandably has his main aim to foster a cooperative relationship with China. This might best be achieved by not publicly criticizing the government,” said Lawrence Gostin, professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Also, Trump has been scathing of the WHO. China & the WHO are too much glove in hand many think.

This article was in ‘The Hill’ a USA publication a few days ago:

“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo joined a growing number of politicians on both sides of the aisle in criticizing the World Health Organization's (WHO) response to the coronavirus crisis.

“Where were the warning signs? Who should have blown the whistle?" Cuomo asked at a daily briefing. “The president has asked this question, and I think he’s right. The president’s answer is the World Health Organization should’ve been blowing the whistle.”

Cuomo said that as a governor he doesn’t deal with much foreign policy, so he “doesn’t know if that’s right or wrong, but I know the question is right and sometimes the question is more important than the answer.”

Neither the W.H.O nor China are to be trusted. I'll stick with the Democratic country of Taiwan and health minister Chen Shih-Chung.

Look at the countries who voted in Yedros Ghebreyesus and then look at these countries 'involvement' with China.
There was a lot of bad feeling when he was elected.
