Not about your decision to cut and run from your country and family.
Not about bleating that you feel guilty about isolating in a multi-million pound mansion in LA during Lockdown.
Not about suggesting to frazzled parents that they should celebrate the moment, rolling around the floor in hysterics. confused

But....When you made that call asking for money generated by your wedding to be used for feeding children during the pandemic, are you really sure it was the Archbishop of Canterbury who picked up the phone?? grin

Yes I agree Chestnut, Charlotte does look like the Queen, and young Archie looks like grandad, Thomas Markle imo.

Chestnut Thu 23-Apr-20 09:46:23

Whereas Charlotte looks just like the Queen!

Calendargirl Thu 23-Apr-20 09:44:08

Yes Terribull

Have always thought Louis takes after Catherine’s father in looks, more so than the other two.

Anniebach Thu 23-Apr-20 09:43:56

They are lovely photographs, sweet little chap , happy birthday

lynn56 Thu 23-Apr-20 09:42:59

Surely it’s very simple whatever we do or don’t think about Harry — hasn’t he given up the right to make comment about what is going on in the UK by leaving ? He can’t have it both ways!

TerriBull Thu 23-Apr-20 09:30:44

Not about Harry, just to say there are some lovely pictures of Prince Louis today, a welcome break from all the doom and gloom. I'll probably get shot down in flames by the republicans for such a comment. About to turn 2 anytime, a real little boy now takes after his mother looks wise.

No , Annie, you do hate, It's deperately sad but there we have it.

I wonder how much self awareness Charles had? Marrying when he had another one on the go?

Did any of you have self awareness at 19?

Anniebach Wed 22-Apr-20 21:03:17

Well said GrannyLaine the usual ‘hatred accusations ‘ are rubbish.

GrannyLaine Wed 22-Apr-20 20:45:40

If the "History lesson" comment is aimed at me coggie I was merely answering your question. I felt very sorry for Diana, but she was indeed a loose cannon within the Royal family. I can acknowledge that with absolutely no vile hatred for her (or anyone for that matter) 'Loose cannon' isn't really about being out of control, its more about not having the self awareness to see the consequence of your actions. And Harry does seem to have that trait .
I'm not sure your reference to male members of the Royal Family has any relevance in the context of this thread

coggie Wed 22-Apr-20 20:01:31

Thanks for the History lesson, in common parlance I believe it means a person who is out of control.

I can give you plenty of example of male members of the RF who couldn't and can't keep it in their pants ie out of control.

As for the vile hatred of a dead woman and her son and by default his choice of partner well, nothing to say really.

Jabberwok Wed 22-Apr-20 19:22:56

I think it's usually intentional damage! Certainly was in the case of Diana!!!

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Apr-20 19:22:00

They are beneath contempt.

I hope in the future they do want to come back and they're left in no doubt whatsoever, that they are *not wanted.

Jabberwok Wed 22-Apr-20 19:21:05

Only explaining what the expression loose cannon means!! No not just thevRF, it can be applied both to men and woman in any institution the person has a grudge against and means that the particular person cannot be trusted to behave in an appropriate way, actively seeking to embarrass or literally pull down the object of their displeasure, usually family, but other institutions as well. Hope this clarifies this expression!

GrannyLaine Wed 22-Apr-20 19:17:04

@coggie
"A loose cannon is an unpredictable or uncontrolled person who is liable to cause unintentional damage"

What's the origin of the phrase 'Loose cannon'? From the 17th century to the 19th century, wooden warships carried cannon as their primary offensive weapons. In order to avoid damage from their enormous recoil when fired they were mounted on rollers and secured with rope.

Sparklefizz Wed 22-Apr-20 19:13:23

Diana has been dead 23 years. Can we not let her rest in peace instead of slagging her off?

Anniebach Wed 22-Apr-20 18:56:55

She wasn’t speaking to her Mother, brother, sister, brother in
law, had sacked toad Burrell’s wife because the woman wanted
to spend more time with her children and not be on call any time day or night.

coggie Wed 22-Apr-20 18:50:17

Sorry but what is a loose cannon? Does it apply exclusively to female members of the RF?

Jabberwok Wed 22-Apr-20 18:45:49

'do or say next'

Jabberwok Wed 22-Apr-20 18:44:43

It's the truth, the later Princess was a loose cannon! You could never be sure what she's do next to embarrass the RF or indeed her own family!

coggie Wed 22-Apr-20 18:31:36

What exactly do you mean? A mentally unstable person?

How dare you.

Anniebach Wed 22-Apr-20 13:56:10

He like his mother is a loose cannon

maddyone Wed 22-Apr-20 13:11:39

Sussexborn
The story in America about Meghan wearing a pregnancy bump to fool Harry and the public is ridiculous, surely people in America don’t believe that! Like you Sussex I think Harry might have noticed grin

Sussexborn Wed 22-Apr-20 13:02:07

I know it won’t happen but I wish the newspapers and other media would just stop reporting anything about them at all. Cut off their oxygen supply!

I was idly clicking from one thing to another and came across a US thread that was far more inventive than anything the U.K. has ever come up with. Apparently Archie doesn’t exist and was an actor’s pregnancy bump she used to fool Harry and the rest of the world and, clearly, this was why she wouldn’t allow any photos when he was newborn.

I appreciate that Harry isn’t the sharpest tool in the box but even he might have noticed? There were all kinds of wild accusations and name calling mainly aimed at MM. Perhaps they should start issuing writs in the US as well.

Their press office is now being run by a US celebrity promotions company and it clearly shows.

What a sad end to the tail end of HM and PP’s long and dedicated reign.

The only positive side is seeing how an ardent republican ties herself up in knots defending the indefensible!

maddyone Wed 22-Apr-20 12:21:12

I think you’re right Annie, they seem to have been much more visible/ heard about in the very short time they’ve been in LA, it was relatively quiet whilst they were in Vancouver, apart from the twice that Megan clearly summoned was seen by the press on her walk and visiting the women’s refuge. Interestingly Harry was in Britain when both our those incidents occurred.
Since they’ve arrived in LA only a few short weeks ago we’ve been treated to one story after another about them. Their need for attention appears to be insatiable. Yes Annie, you’re most likely correct, it’s all about name dropping. So sad.

Anniebach Wed 22-Apr-20 12:07:42

They want America to think they are still royals , it was really
name dropping ‘ I was saying to the Queen ‘ sounds so in the
loop
