Some expressions are stronger than prejudice, they display real hatred, and to be used in conjunction with the birth of a baby is frightening, I think.
Fortunately, only a few.

The title of this thread is about the birth of a new baby to Mr J and his girl friend Carrie. I'd be interested in talking about the nurse you mention, and the awful deaths of so many of our front line workers. I hope you won't be offended if I suggest you start a thread separately to this one.

I think baby's birth date was implied to be later than it actually was in order to keep the media at bay! Lets face it speculation would have been rife, instead of which they've stolen a march on the press and managed to conduct the whole pregnancy and birth in relative privacy! Well done them!!

They never gave an expected date, but with the stress they have been through in the past weeks, could explain why their boy made an early entry. So pleased for them, looking forward to hearing his name soon.

I don't know when this little boys due date was but here he is, described as a healthy baby whose mother is doing well. I'm delighted to hear some happy news in the middle of all the misery.
If Mr Johnson wants to take some paternity leave, why shouldn't he. I'm sure that like many father's he can work from home reasonably effectively. As for his health, I agree, he still looks tired so perhaps taking a step back for a week or two would be no bad thing.

Doesn't matter which party we vote for. I never have and can't imagine I ever will vote for Mr Js party but I can't imagine being inclined to be unpleasant about the birth of this baby.

It’s good to see that despite the raw nastiness and spite of some of the comments, it’s managing to stay a positive thread, as it jolly well should since it’s congratulating the birth of a baby!

Congratulations to them both! My OH reads the news more thoroughly than I do. He thought the baby was due in June.

My Mum died when I was expecting DD2 and she came along 6 weeks early weighing nearly 3lb less than her siblings. She is fine now after a worrying start. Perhaps all the recent stress has played its part.

No real surprise at the spiteful commentators - Hitler/Stalin come to mind with these conscienceless posters. Hate for hates sake against a newborn. Sick.

I'm a bit concerned about Boris being kept awake at night, what with the pandemic in progress and just recovering himself. Hopefully he will sleep somewhere quiet!

I know of a little boy called Phoenix. Born into a happy second marriage after a terrible first one. I assume that's why they chose that name!

Jabberwok, Just a joke idea - not a name I'd ever choose. Just thinking of new life arising from the current pandemic.

It makes perfect sense for someone to be a bit vague about when a baby is due. Had they said the baby is due at the end of April the press would have been speculating for the last month about the imminent birth. By giving a vague date ‘ in the summer’ they had a chance to spend the last few weeks of the pregnancy in relative peace. I doubt very much if the baby is premature.
I’m not a fan of Boris’ but I do wish them all well.

I'm sure baby bozzer will be a cutie with a big mop of unruly hair - he can't help who his dad is!

It might be Johnson's 6/7 child but it's Carrie's first - I'm glad she's got through it all safely considering she likely had the virus during pregnancy.

And if a bit of paternity leave overlaps into what really ought to be some more convalescence for Boris then surely that’s GREAT TIMING? He still looks a bit washed out to me and probably needs to rest up. Cue the nasties who say he’s lazy!
