Why do we need visible leadership? Can't really think that needs an answer but: so we know that someone is steering the country, so that cohesive communication is used to ensure people are aware of the implications and reasons for decision making, etc etc. The country is being failed.

I think a lot of people would respect them more if they were honest and said yes they had made mistakes. I get so fed up in the briefings hearing the same words churned out time after time. It's as if the Ministers have been programmed with an automatic response to any question that they are asked and sidestep chanting that day's phrase .
It's not good enough. I think the people of this country deserve an honest answer and less of the lies of which there have been so many especially about the care homes.

Yes it is only advice, but on the case of a pandemic, sure!y scientists must know more than MP's? Why ask for professional advice and then ignore it because you think you know better?!! If you really do, why ask in the first place?! MP's are not scientists, so how can they go against advise from somebody who is?! Sticking your neck out comes to mind!!

Yes I see he has turned up for PMQ.
I wish he would just try to speak more responsibly, and admit they'd made mistakes. It's so blatantly obvious.
People would respect him more if he did that.

Just watched PMQs.

KS asking why the government stopped tracing on 12 March. BJ saying we've got x y and z in place and tracing is going to start by a date in June (can't remember which).

Those on the Tory back benches braying. As usual, rather than answer a question, BJ goes on the attack. No doubt many on here will support him.

This morning Theresa Coffey blaming the scientists for the govt's mistakes. The scientists are there to offer advice. Ministers should be capable of understanding that advice. But they're not. Or, they've been ignoring the advice that doesn't suit them.

The country certainly needs to know it still has a sentient PM. There was an awful lot of fuss a couple of weeks ago when it was rumoured Kim Jong-un had died.

For goodness sake, we're in the middle of a national crisis. Decisions need to be made and there needs to be planning. We're supposed to be a democracy, so at the very least we should be informed honestly about what is going on.

I remember all the criticism of Corbyn for running away from conflict. May was also criticised for her campaigning with "chosen" audiences. Johnson was elected to be a leader and he's just not leading.

We all know the Conservatives have a massive majority, but many of those MPs (especially the ones in the "red wall" areas) would be stupid if they didn't watch their backs. The 1922 Committee still exists and Johnson wouldn't be the first Conservative leader to bee ousted.

Why?!

Rosalyn69 Wed 20-May-20 12:08:40

At this awful time we do need to see the PM.

How do you know his child is in disposables lemongrove ? I think Carrie is environmentally aware. The washable ones are quite good these days. (He won’t be doing much changing I imagine.)

Purplepixie Wed 20-May-20 11:23:00

He is out beating the nappies against a rock down by the river!!!!!!smile grin.

Septimia Wed 20-May-20 11:20:08

Generally speaking, they seem to get someone to do the briefing who has a connection with that day's message. Makes sense.

lemongrove Wed 20-May-20 11:09:17

All the nappies will be disposable ones.?

Why do some posters constantly need to see the PM??

I can manage for months on end ( very well)without seeing or hearing any politician.

Jabberwok Wed 20-May-20 10:24:59

You all seem very well informed! How do you actually know what goes on in the background at Chequers or anywhere else?! As for nappies! what a stupid comment!

Daisymae Wed 20-May-20 09:49:04

Well he is making a habit of being AWOL. Not appearing at the briefings, no interviews. I look forward to PMQ today. Guess then it's off to Chequers for a jolly long weekend

Parsley3 Wed 20-May-20 09:46:22

He is pegging out the nappies. ?

Jabberwok Wed 20-May-20 09:41:25

Concentrating on Brexit?!

Pantglas2 Wed 20-May-20 08:27:33

Gone for another run this morning - don’t we all wish to be that fit and well?

Anniebach Wed 20-May-20 08:21:48

Perhaps not fully recovered ?

Daisymae Wed 20-May-20 08:03:50
