Surely, if his child is autistic, the family should have planned in advance for any eventuality. Especially as he, unlike the rest of us, knew when lockdown would happen and what rules would be in place. If this man is effectively running the country, it has to be worrying that his own personal life was so shambolic. What do they do with the child when they're both working? Is his wife a freelance journalist or is she employed by The Spectator? It must be embarrassing for them to have printed an article full of lies.

MaizieD...it makes me so mad that people do not get all the facts before posting. He and his wife did not go and stay with the elderly parents....they stayed at a house nearby where his sister brought essentials and left them on the doorstep for him and his wife. The couple needed the help for their child and that is why they made the journey probably to their nearest relatives.But they did not stay with the elderly parents as you state. Please read the whole facts.

I don’t think cummings’ parents and sister were in need of help or in distress. So why go when they have family and the means to get help and food delivered etc.in London. I think there was a birthday bash, maybe that’s the reason.

gardenofengland the reaction to Cummings behaviour is nothing to do with politics just plain reaction to the unfairness.

None of it makes sense.

For a start, which one was ill? In some accounts, it's Cummings, in others it's his wife, or both of them. Who was ill when they made the journey? Mrs Cummings wrote about caring for their boy while Dominic was ill. So, was she okay? Did they stay in Durham long enough for both of them to have the virus and recover?

We are told, in sanctimonious tones, that Cummings just wanted childcare for a 4 year old. Leaving aside the question of getting childcare from London-based friends and relatives, or paying a nanny, at first they were supposed to be going to his parents. Then, when people started talking about the risk of killing his mum and dad, the story changed. They were in a separate house. They were looking after the child themselves. So why couldn't they do that in London?

No, they had to go to Durham because his sister had to bring them food. Do her London relatives hate them so much that they would let them starve?

Seriously, I think of those photos of doctors and nurses holding up signs, begging people to stay at home, and I feel so angry.

I was so, so angry tonight watching our PM comment on the fiasco of Dominic Cummings!! Boris Johnson dismissed the altercation quite casually!
! Up until now I have supported him totally in this awful Coronavirus situation , as its totally unprecedented . OK, there are times when I’ve thought, ‘Hmm, could do better!’ But after today I have totally lost faith with BoJo !!

There are thousands of families who have concerns about their own health,poorly children , many of whom are one parent families , and they have to make a call, ‘Do I go to work, ask family members for childcare support, or just ‘wing it’ !

paddyann Nicola Sturgeon most definitely did cover up or try to cover up the large outbreak of Covid 19. She's come out with all sorts of excuses but they gave all been disproved. They've even admitted, eventually, that they might have done things differently.
My son who works in hospitality caught coronavirus shortly afterwards. He'd served delegates at that conference.
