Will he resign?

News breaking tonight that Dominic Cummings and his wife, when ill with Covid-19, put their child in the car and drove 260 miles from London to Durham so that they could isolate at his parent's place and his parents look after the child. This happened some time after 27th March. Remember lockdown was imposed on 23rd March.

Seen in his parent's garden with his child on 5th April.

Neil Fergusson resigned because his lover visited his house after lockdown.

Scotland's Chief Medical Officer had to resign after visiting her second home twice after lockdown.

Cummings and his wife drive 260 miles to stay with his parents (who must be in their 60s at the very least)... What will he do?

Story is in most of the MSM now.

Although knowing him, he would stand and argue the point.
Do you know him Gagajo ?

Nico97 Sun 24-May-20 16:45:19

(meanwhile, round the back of No. 10, DC is being dragged out, kicking and screaming).
And you know this how Gagajo ?

Chewbacca Sun 24-May-20 16:52:23

Something's brewing if the police have been to see him today.

Forgive me but is there photographic evidence of these latter sightings and subsequent visit(s)?! or any other concrete proof?
Good question Jabberwok. It appears not. It also seems that the LP, under Keir Starmer, are not asking for his resignation based on this raft of rumour but suggesting questions must be answered. Thank heavens our legal system is not run my the rumour mongers.

MissAdventure Sun 24-May-20 16:57:27

77 odd thousand signatures now.

Well there you go. He gets away with it, surprise surprise.

Hetty58 Sun 24-May-20 17:07:13

Crikey, I really thought he was going to say he'd sacked him - but no, just wittered on about a father caring for their child - pathetic!

Hetty58 Sun 24-May-20 17:08:15

So much for setting an example!

Grandmafrench Sun 24-May-20 17:09:37

Just watching the Boris Johnson cover up broadcast.
As predicted, he states that Cummings acted - in his quest to find the right kind of childcare when he and his Wife were about to become incapacitated - legally and with integrity.

Too disgusted to listen to anything more.

It seems that a huge number of Grans and families on here were wasting their time completely in trying to keep away from their relatives needing help. Everyone was clearly happy to settle for the "wrong kind" of childcare etc.,

Nothing will shift that scruffy, disrespectful, arrogant individual from his post. Absolutely nothing.

GGumteenth Sun 24-May-20 17:10:43

Get's away with what Lucca? Not being someone you like? Standing up to gossip about bluebell woods. I dislike all the man stands for but when it comes to those who use destructive gossip I would irradicate them from this world. They destroy lives.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 24-May-20 17:13:23

Gossip not proof of multiple visits, the eyewitness is now saying it looked like DC

I am not a fan of DC but I am totally against trial by MSM.

Hetty58 Sun 24-May-20 17:17:07

Unbelieveable really, his pathetic chat about a father caring for a child is swiftly followed by - exposing kids to risk in school!

MissAdventure Sun 24-May-20 17:17:20

Getting away with totally taking the piss. angry

VictorMthe2nd Sun 24-May-20 17:17:23

Boris - following your blather this evening to support your main man, here is ours fella: NOT ONE IOTA OF LEADERSHIP OR CONFIDENCE, one rule for you lot and the opposite for us, very weak indeed when we all expected something manly like "England expects every man to do his duty"

Jabberwok Sun 24-May-20 17:17:27

FGS, the grandparents did not and were not going to have anything to do with child care. It was his younger sister and niece who were on standby for that task! Thankfully they were not needed. The rest of this saga is just supposition,no proof offered anywhere.

nightowl Sun 24-May-20 17:18:41

Maybe I’m naive, but I’m shocked by the number of posters defending this man’s actions. It’s one thing to support the Conservatives but another thing to perform all sorts of convoluted thought processes to try to justify the unjustifiable. Are honesty, openness and integrity no longer valued in those in public service? Actually there’s no need to answer that, the posts speak for themselves.

DC’s arrogant blustering since this came to light have only confirmed what kind of man he is, and what he thinks of the rest of us. The fact that Boris Johnson has been in discussions with him all afternoon, and still cannot come up with any real justification for his behaviour speaks volumes. What on earth is this man’s hold over him?

GrannyMary1 Sun 24-May-20 17:23:01

Even Tory MPs are calling for his resignation. What hold does DC have over Boris?

Daisymae Sun 24-May-20 17:23:31

What an embarrassment of a government. Ridiculous.

GGumteenth Sun 24-May-20 17:25:57

I am not a fan of DC but I am totally against trial by MSM.

I don't know how to express it GrannyGravy13 but I am so much more than not a fan of the man but, like you, I think we are asking for trouble throughout the country if we just rely on the ramped-up press for justice. It's not going to happen.

MissAdventure Sun 24-May-20 17:26:40

Bluster, bluster..

MissAdventure Sun 24-May-20 17:29:35

More bluster..

Jishere Sun 24-May-20 17:29:39

Hear hear Night owl. I didn't watch it but what makes me really sad there is alot of families struggling who have followed the rules but they could have taken their young children to their grandparents to ease the pressure to get back to work or to help there mental health or because they felt poorly. I can only hope the petition carries on being signed. If anyone thought anything of these politicians......I doubt it would be very nice words.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 24-May-20 17:29:48

Johnson digging in.

Labour HQ must be grinning from ear to ear.

Hetty58 Sun 24-May-20 17:30:30

Jabberwok, those with symptoms are supposed to isolate at home - not drive 250 miles. How can you defend him?
