Can you think of a Prime Minister worse than Johnson?

I don’t mean whether you agree with certain political policies, I am talking about competence, knowledge and integrity.

I truthfully can’t think of a single one.

All PMs have a weakness, no doubt but this goes beyond anything I’ve every seen or read.

Surely even a Prime Minister as lazy as this one could have done a little bit of preparatory work with his advisers to try to anticipate what questions would be asked.

Anniebach Thu 28-May-20 15:00:23

Gordon and Sarah Brown are working for charities, they don’t
go on tv and crow about it.

Callistemon Thu 28-May-20 14:41:18

quit!

Callistemon Thu 28-May-20 14:41:01

I think Gordon Brown was a hopeless Prime Minister.

That's not because I dislike him, btw. I don't and have been impressed by what I have seen of him, although that is little, since he quite.
He just wasn't cut out for the job.

Every other Prime Minister has prepared, what on earth makes Johnson the exception?

MissAdventure Thu 28-May-20 14:26:21

I'm sure common sense would have told Johnson what the the questions were likely to be.

Elliegran Thu 28-May-20 14:23:17

I agree with you Jabberwok Blair was by far the worst pm. Destabilised the middle east and the world is still dealing with the consequences.

Anniebach Thu 28-May-20 14:19:29

How could Johnson have prepared for questions without notice of the questions ?

Donatia Thu 28-May-20 14:13:57

Well said

@paddy Anne Boris Johnson also showed his ignorance when Stephen Timms asked him about a family who cannot get any benefits because they have ‘leave to remain’ and a condition of that is that they have no recourse to public funds. They’ve lived and worked in UK for years and their children were born here. Boris had absolutely no idea about it. He didn’t bother to do any preparation.

"can I think of..."?
One word "NO"

Curlywhirly Thu 28-May-20 14:04:38

Lucca thanks for the link, certainly sums it up perfectly.

Jabberwok Thu 28-May-20 13:44:59

Theresa May honest?!! No deal is better than a bad deal, an obvious lie! Brexit means brexit?!! Not for her it didn't! Out by March 2018 errr No!! Oh lets try another two dates? Oh no, they're no good either!! Not sure she was totally honest! Certainly people on here at that time didn't think so either!

Jabberwok Thu 28-May-20 13:39:18

I think that is common knowledge?!!! As a direct result of our interference and without a functioning government courtesy of Bush and Blair, all the furies in pandoras box broke loose and took many years to subdue, costing many many lives both American British but mostly Iraqi!
All this admiration for Mrs T gets more bizarre by the hour!!

MaizieD Thu 28-May-20 13:03:54

Tony Blair was actually responsible for several million deaths both in the Iraq war, and the subsequent chaos

Evidence for that statement, Jabberwok?

Or are you like your pinup boy pulling figures out of the air?

trisher Thu 28-May-20 12:48:16

I didn't like Blair (self interested war monger) I didn't like Thatcher [old style Tory, determined to destroy public services. But Johnson is definitely the worst. The others at least had ideas and principles. He's a lying unprincipled vacuum.

MayBee70 Thu 28-May-20 12:39:26

At least Theresa didn’t lie about customs checks with Ireland etc. Or suggested a bridge across the Irish Sea. I’m no fan of Theresa May but she was, at least, honest.

quizqueen Thu 28-May-20 12:34:01

All Labour PMs were worse than Boris, also Theresa May, whom people entrusted to get Brexit done but all she did was waste 4 years letting Barnier tell her what to do.

Galaxy Thu 28-May-20 12:33:23

Yes the New Zealand PM is cheerful because she has done a good job.

Brilliant piece of writing.

Lucca Thu 28-May-20 12:30:46

Anniebach. If they are in charge of the country yes of course

Jabberwok Thu 28-May-20 12:28:56

vehicles not fit etc.

Jabberwok Thu 28-May-20 12:27:42

Tony Blair was actually responsible for several million deaths both in the Iraq war, and the subsequent chaos not to mention the suspicious death of Dr Kelly,(remember him?!!) forces personal kitted out with totally inadequate kit, vehicles 8 fit for desert use, the list is .endless. European countries haven't fared that well, deaths certainly in the thousands, but somehow that is OK!

Anniebach Thu 28-May-20 12:08:57

Whitewave he should resign if he is ill ? Should everyone who had Coronavirus and been in intensive care resign from
their jobs because they haven’t made a rapid recovery?

He deserves a medal!. My god. The delusion! Heading for 60,000 EXCESS deaths on this time last year and you want to give the PM who missed FIVE cobra meetings and went on holiday at the beginning of the crisis.

Of course J.A doesn't have our left wing press and politicians to cope with so is able to take a more balanced attitude, no wonder she always looks so cheerful!
She has reason to be cheerful. She very successfully negotiated her country through the C19 crisis, being DETERMINED to avoid mass deaths, resulting in only 22 fatalities.

Lets look at those numbers. 22 opposed to 37,400 (official figure, not considering the current excess death figure which is nearer 60,000).

OK. NZ is a LOT smaller than the UK. Approx 14 times smaller. So if BJ had done what JA did, we'd be looking at between 300 & 400 deaths. Instead we have 37,400.

She achieved this by locking down the country VERY early. Closing all ports. Test and trace. All things BJ was too busy holidaying and avoiding meetings to even think about.

And you want to give him a medal? Maybe you should just call him Teflon man, because clearly even mass murder is fine and acceptable.
