Whilst we have all been busy with C19, Brexit has been still in the background, so I thought as a break from C19 I would start up Brexit again??

Latest gossip/leak

Liz Truss has written to Johnson warning him that his border plans “ risk smuggling, damage to the U.K. reputation and WTO wrath who may well launch a legal challenge over the plan to phase in customs and health checks Over 6 months.

Something else that’s going to run and run.

Negotiations with the EU are due to end 31 October.

If the UK was a law-abiding democracy, the fraudulent referendum would have been annulled- because it was ill-conceived, brought about by people who do not have this country's interest at heart, won by lies, cheating and foreign interference.

The fact that the Russian report did not even look into Russia's interference in the fraudulent referendum speaks volumes. The brexit project was always intended to be a wrecking ball, but no-one will ever know the truth, certainly not from reading the right wing press.

Some Americans don't seem to be able to differentiate between socialism and communism. I think it's because both sides are more to the right of politics than we are here.

RE Brexit, YouGov has asked the same question for the last 4 years:-
"Was Britain right or wrong to vote to leave the EU?"

The most recent vote, on 7th September, was Wrong 47%, Right 41%, Don't know 13%. Since 31st August 2017, the answer "Wrong" has consistently had the higher percentage vote. So for over 3 years the government has been bumbling down a road, it seems, Britain has decided it doesn't want to travel.

Trump may be voted out with any luck. We're stuck with the madness that is Brexit. What a crazy world we live in!

Biden is Irish American.

If he gets in the Irish border issue will not play well with him and our trade agreement will be at stake.

I don't disagree with you vegansrock. But I've recently connected on Facebook with a former colleague in the US. Educated person, in his eighties, used to have a senior position in industry.

He will hear no criticism of Trump, thinks he's done a great job and that Biden is a communist who is trying to undermine the USA. He's also been calling for BLM protestors to be shot shock

I just don't understand it, but its not just the unintelligent who are taken in.

Let’s face it, the less well educated, ill informed segment and more easily persuadable part of the population is in the majority. Trump appeals to them because he talks in simple terms and thus appears to be more like them.

Curlywhirly Wed 09-Sept-20 22:13:44

Sadly, I think she may be right in that he may serve another term, God help the free world if he does ?

Curlywhirly Wed 09-Sept-20 22:12:01

Of course Urmstongran must be joking about Trump, none of the lovely people here on GN could possibly support him ..... could they? ?

I think Urmstongran is winding everyone up and succeeding.
I seem to remember she lives a long way from the U.K. and can laugh at us all fighting like rats in a sack.
I may be wrong though

She is correct though, Trump may win despite everything, that is very bad all round.

She has a holiday home on one of the Spanish islands, David. Which is where she's been posting from for some time.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Sept-20 19:00:41

Sorry, back to Brexit re-booted ...

Urmstongran Wed 09-Sept-20 18:59:52

Ah no Davidhs I live in Greater Manchester. Urmston actually! And I’m not winding anyone up.

Trump will win. You’ll see.

Davidhs Wed 09-Sept-20 09:24:54

No deal on the border across the Irish Sea is going to cause a lot of problems with smuggling of all sorts, not least meat.
There are large tariffs on Beef and Sheepmeat, so there will be a large illegal cross border trade within Ireland, big money to be made.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 09-Sept-20 09:18:03

This weak, mainly incompetent government has instigated the complexity of Brexit with an ignorance of outcomes and an inability to handle it. Therefore, expect the blame game. The EU, Corona, the civil service but never ever the gatherings around the cabinet table selected by Johnson not for competence and experience but their ability to be yes men.

Urmstongran

Yes Lucca I am.
Where have you been the last couple of years! ??

Just polishing my Stepford wife image ...

Good heavens what do you like about him? His extensive vocabulary ?his statesmanlike behaviour ?

Imagine what Farage and his fans would say if the EU reneged on the WA it has already agreed to and signed and decided to change bits of it to suit themselves.

Ah but we're British, we're special, don't you know?

A minister says in Parliament we'll be breaking international law, and thinks that's ok. Shameful.

“ 5 weeks to Brexit (all bar the shouting).
3 months to the USA elections.”

Do I understand you to be a Trump supporter Urmstongran?

Lucca Wed 09-Sept-20 06:58:20

GrannyGravy13

There are lots of pro-Brexit members on GN.......the reason they have stopped posting on political threads is purely down to the vitriol they receive from pro-EU posters.

Oh really.....you mean disagreement?

vegansrock Wed 09-Sept-20 02:30:12

what planet does she live on?

growstuff Tue 08-Sept-20 22:09:38

... and doesn't live on the same planet as the rest of us

vegansrock Tue 08-Sept-20 21:24:59

Deborah Meaden says it all

Alegrias Tue 08-Sept-20 20:13:21

Are you winding us up Urmstongran? Because I find it hard to believe anyone could write what you just have and mean it seriously.

Urmstongran Tue 08-Sept-20 20:07:40

This is all heating up nicely with only five weeks to go!

MP Bill Cash (ex lawyer) put Clause 38 into the WA. Boris told him it was the pinnacle of his career.

It will focus minds at the 11th hour. A deal will be reached, I’m sure of it.

Trump will win again. I’m sure of that too.

5 weeks to Brexit (all bar the shouting).
3 months to the USA elections.

An unelected Spad who spent three years in Russia and no one seems to know what he was doing there and no one seems to question it either.
