Anyone else think Boris is still ill?

Many people who have suffered Covid-19 badly are going on to suffer ME/CFS. I am an ME sufferer myself, and mine developed from a nasty virus 30 years ago. My husband and I both caught it - he got better and I never did.

Anyway ..... looking at Boris slumped next to Rishi Sunak yesterday - well, I thought Boris looked shattered, haggard and unwell, whereas Rishi looked full of vigour. Boris has returned to work because he has had to, but it's my opinion he is still far from well.

Anyone agree (whether you approve of him or not?)

Iam that is exactly what we were told by Raab. They lied to us and even when he went into IC they said he was ‘sitting up’. There’s no wonder some people were therefore cynical. They played us for fools and then expect us to swallow everything. I’m
quite astonished at the short memories some people have- no wonder he’ll get away with everything.

vegans rock, I am convinced that Mr Johnson was seriously ill. He started with mild symptoms. I don't remember anyone saying he was in hospital as a precaution. Have I wiped that from my mind or missed it? That's entirely possible.
Whatever - no one is admitted into intensive care "as a precaution".

He did one press up whilst wearing a suit and tie.
We were told he had mild symptoms. He was in hospital as a precaution and was in great spirits and running the country from his hospital bed. So was he seriously ill or not? Someone is telling porkies somewhere.

He’s better off than the 50,000 who have died thanks to his bungling of everything.

Ilovecheese Thu 09-Jul-20 20:35:50

Isn't he doing press ups?

FarNorth Thu 09-Jul-20 20:18:35

I think he claimed he is doing something about his overweight.
It doesn't happen instantly.

MayBee70 Thu 09-Jul-20 20:16:07

But isn’t he the one who was only talking the other week about the need to combat obesity in this country? I don’t understand why he doesn’t do something about his own weight: especially as it is the co morbidity that almost killed him.

Dorsetcupcake61 Thu 09-Jul-20 20:03:33

I know people in such positions seem to age quickly and current situation would affect anyone. That said he looks dreadful somehow managing to look overweight and haggard at the same time.

Evoha16 Thu 09-Jul-20 19:56:30

Maddyone - I’m certain no camera would have been slowed in the IC Ward -

FarNorth Thu 09-Jul-20 19:56:19

Surely his party shouldn't be letting him blunder on.
If they put in a deputy, temporarily, that would avoid the difficulties of selecting a new leader.
That's got to be better than someone who is not well struggling along, even if they were brilliant to start with. Which Johnson wasn't.

I suspect that to BJ nothing is more important than his hugely inflated ego.

LadyBella Thu 09-Jul-20 19:14:36

I don't think he looks well. What is it with male pride? Why doesn't he admit and hand the reins to someone else. His health is more important than his ego.

Blinko Thu 09-Jul-20 18:57:13

I remarked some time ago on another thread featuring the competence of BoJo that he was still unwell.

I am not a fan, but was willing to give the believers the benefit of the doubt, I was waiting to see his reported acuity, energy and leadership skills in action.

So far, not so good. I think he's a rubbish PM but I don't think he's well either.

I think it is spread across all parties, Dinahmo

Jabberwok

FGS, somebody remarked that previous PM's + J.Corbyn must be heaving a sigh of relief that they are not the PM now! I agreed, and, in brackets, asked the question, even though these people criticise, could they have done better? Easy really!!!
I don't think anyones private life is anyone else's business. There is usually more to it than meets the eye and nothing to do with on lookers who often only know half a tale!

I beg to differ. A politician's life can be our business. Perhaps you've forgotten when he Tory party were telling us one thing and doing the exact opposite. Cecil Parkinson in particular springs to mind.

Eloethan Thu 09-Jul-20 18:15:09

If he is ill - and it could be argued that he took unnecessary risks which might have contributed to his illness - he should say so and stand down.

This country needs a prime minister who is fit and capable of working at full capacity with his colleagues to deal with the very difficult challenges that now face us. Not somebody who appears to have become reliant on unaccountable special advisors to oversee governmental departments and formulate policies.

? thanks for that jabberwok

Still not quite clear, but I can live with your reply as you sound as if you are about to explode.

Looking at Johnson that does make sense welbeck

welbeck Thu 09-Jul-20 17:46:56

this was from UCL, Inst of Neurology, so its kosher, not akin to trumpian science.

welbeck Thu 09-Jul-20 17:44:52

i was reading yesterday about the long-term, often unrecognised neurological problems caused by having had covid-19.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-Jul-20 17:23:04

I never imagined that the U.K. would be lumped with people like that

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-Jul-20 17:22:17

Has anyone seen the speech made by Merkel saying how populist leaders like Trump, Johnson and Bolsonaro have handled C19 so badly?

Barmeyoldbat Thu 09-Jul-20 17:17:03

Blast, I thought I had pressed to view the message first to correct any mistakes, but it seems not. Please could someone find a cure for losing reading glasses.

Fennel Thu 09-Jul-20 17:16:37

As someone said earlier, I expect Theresa May, Tony Blair etc (and Corbyn) are thanking their lucky stars that they weren't PM when these multple catastrophes happened.
Perhaps poetic justice for BJ.
As well as Trump and other similar world leaders.
